The thermal stability of a nanosized Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2 solid solution on a silica surface and the dispersion behavior of V2O5 over Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 have been investigated using XRD, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, HREM, and BET surface area techniques. Oxidative dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene was performed as a test reaction to assess the usefulness of the VOx/Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 catalyst. Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 (1:1:2 mol ratio based on oxides) was synthesized through a soft-chemical route from ultrahigh dilute solutions by adopting a deposition coprecipitation technique. A theoretical monolayer equivalent to 10 wt % V2O5 was impregnated over the calcined Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 sample (773 K) by an aqueous wet impregnation technique. The prepared V2O5/Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 sample was subjected to thermal treatments from 773 to 1073 K. The XRD measurements indicate the presence of cubic Ce0.75Zr0.25O2 in the case of Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2, while cubic Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 and tetragonal Ce0.16Zr0.84O2 in the case of V2O5/Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 when calcined at various temperatures. Dispersed vanadium oxide induces more incorporation of zirconium into the ceria lattice, thereby decreasing its lattice size and also accelerating the crystallization of Ce-Zr-O solid solutions at higher calcination temperatures. Further, it interacts selectively with the ceria portion of the composite oxide to form CeVO4. The RS measurements provide good evidence about the dispersed form of vanadium oxide and the CeVO4 compound. The HREM studies show the presence of small Ce-Zr-oxide particles of approximately 5 nm size over the surface of amorphous silica and corroborate with the results obtained from other techniques. The catalytic activity studies reveal the ability of vanadium oxide supported on Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 to efficiently catalyze the ODH of ethylbenzene at normal atmospheric pressure. The remarkable ability of Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2 to prevent the deactivation of supported vanadium oxide leading to stable activity in the time-on-stream experiments and high selectivity to styrene are other important observations.  相似文献

Recently, the biosynthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) from crude extracts and phytochemicals has attracted much attention. Green synthesis of NPs is cost-effective, eco-friendly, and is a promising alternative for chemical synthesis. This study involves ZnO NPs synthesis using Rubus fairholmianus root extract (RE) as an efficient reducing agent. The UV spectrum of RE-ZnO NPs exhibited a peak at 357 nm due to intrinsic bandgap absorption and an XRD pattern that matches the ZnO crystal structure (JCPDS card no: 36-1451). The average particle size calculated from the Debye–Scherrer equation is 11.34 nm. SEM analysis showed that the RE-ZnO NPs spherical in shape with clusters (1–100 nm). The antibacterial activity of the NPs was tested against Staphylococcus aureus using agar well diffusion, minimum inhibitory concentration, and bacterial growth assay. The R. fairholmianus phytochemicals facilitate the synthesis of stable ZnO NPs and showed antibacterial activity.  相似文献

Treatment of montmorillonite and vermiculite with hydrochloric acid results in an overall increase in acidity and acidic sites. IR and DSC studies of base adsorbed catalysts have revealed the heterogeneity of surface acidity on the activated catalysts. Clay catalysts have been found to dehydrate 1-butanol to 1-butene, which directly isomerizes tocis- andtrans-2-butenes, confirming the presence of Lewis and Brönsted acid sites. Cumene cracking studies using the clay catalyst also confirm the presence of Brönsted acid sites. The temperature and concentration of acid have been found to have a significant influence on the catalytic activity.  相似文献

RNA interference-mediated silencing is an effective way of controlling white spot syndrome virus (WSSV). However, the effect of RNAi on the innate immune mechanism is not well understood. Prophenoloxidase (proPO) is an important component of the shrimp innate immunity. In the present study, nonspecific effect of two double-stranded (ds)RNA-expressing constructs, one targeting vp28 gene of WSSV (pCMV-VP28-LH) and another targeting green fluorescent protein (GFP) (pCMV-GFP-LH) on proPO2 gene expression, is investigated. mRNA expression levels of proPO2 in hemocytes of DNA construct-injected shrimp were estimated using real-time PCR with elongation factor 1-α as internal control. Empty vector (pcDNA)-injected shrimp were used as experimental control. In pCMV-VP28-LH-injected shrimp, proPO2 showed significant upregulation until 48 h post-injection (p.i.). Similarly, pCMV-GFP-LH-injected animals showed high levels of expression until 72 h p.i. WSSV-challenged animals, compared to pcDNA-injected control group, showed no significant change in expression of the gene until 24 h. However, an increased expression was noticed at 48 h p.i. Our results suggest that neither the plasmids nor the long hairpin RNA expressed by the constructs has any nonspecific silencing effect on the proPO2 expression. On the contrary, the consistent upregulation of proPO2 observed in shrimp injected with dsRNA at early time-points indicates the possibility of nonspecific protection against WSSV infection.  相似文献

A mathematical model corresponding to homogeneous chemical reactions under transient chronoamperometry conditions at hemispherical microelectrodes has been developed. The analytical solutions for the concentration of species and current were obtained using Duhamel's theorem. This closed-form theoretical expression pertains to the transient concentration profiles and fluxes of chemical species involved in chemical and electrochemical reactions at hemispherical microelectrodes. As t → ∞, the analytical expressions corresponding to the concentration and current approach steady-state values. The solutions obtained are explicit only under limiting current conditions. The approximate expressions for concentrations and current as functions of time corresponding to the EC' and CE mechanisms at hemispherical microelectrodes are also reported.  相似文献

We have developed a rapid and sensitive method for immunomagnetic separation (IMS) of Salmonella along with their real time detection via PCR. Silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles were functionalized with carboxy groups to which anti-Salmonella antibody raised against heat-inactivated whole cells of Salmonella were covalently attached. The immuno-captured target cells were detected in beverages like milk and lemon juice by multiplex PCR and real time PCR with a detection limit of 104 cfu.mL?1 and 103 cfu.mL?1, respectively. We demonstrate that IMS can be used for selective concentration of target bacteria from beverages for subsequent use in PCR detection. PCR also enables differentiation of Salmonella typhi and Salmonella paratyphi A using a set of four specific primers. In addition, IMS—PCR can be used as a screening tool in the food and beverage industry for the detection of Salmonella within 3–4 h which compares favorably to the time of several days that is needed in case of conventional detection based on culture and biochemical methods.
The method uses silica coated magnetic nanoparticles immobilized with anti-Salmonella antibody for immunomagnetic separation of Salmonella from beverages followed by detection by multiplex PCR (mPCR) and real time PCR (qPCR). This methodology contributes to rapid screening and accurate detection of Salmonella contaminations in beverages.  相似文献

Bacillus badius isolated from soil has been identified as potential producer of penicillin G acylase (PGA). In the present study, batch experiments performed at optimized inoculum size, temperature, pH, and agitation yielded a maximum PGA of 9.5 U/ml in shake flask. The experiments conducted in bioreactor with different oxygen flow rates revealed that 0.66 vvm oxygen flow rate could be sufficient for the maximum PGA activity of 12.7 U/ml. From a detailed investigation on the strategies of the addition of phenyl acetic acid (PAA) for increasing the production of PGA, it was found that the controlled addition of 10 ml of 0.1 % (w/v) PAA once in every 2 h from 6th hour of growth showed the maximum PGA activity of 32 U/ml. Thus, our studies for the first time showed that at concentration above 0.1 % (w/v) PAA, the PGA production decreased. This selective condition paves the way for less costly bioprocess for the production of PGA.  相似文献

The non-steady-state concentration for an EC reaction at planar electrode is derived. The analytical expression for the concentration for EC reaction is reported for small and large value of reaction rate. The asymptotic expression for the non-steady-state current for EC reaction is also derived. The analytical solutions for normalized current response were formulated using the method of Laplace transformation. The concentration and current are compared with available limiting case results, and are found to be in good agreement.  相似文献

The compound 2,2-bis[4-(4-maleimidophenoxy phenyl)]propane was prepared by the imidization of bisamic acid of 2,2-bis(4-aminophenoxy phenyl)propane. Various nanoclays were blended with this bismaleimide and thermally cured. The structural characterization of the synthesized materials and the thermal properties of the bismaleimide and their blends were investigated through FTIR, 1H and 13C NMR, differential scanning calorimetry and thermo gravimetric analysis. Among the various clays investigated, Cloisite 15A shows strong influence on the cure exotherm of bismaleimide. Introduction of clay mineral into bismaleimide shifts the onset of curing exotherm to higher temperature and is nearly 40 °C. The thermal stability of the clay loaded cured bismaleimide increases and the presence of clay particles in the cured bismaleimide matrix enhances the char formation.  相似文献
