Solution and dispersion copolymerizations of N‐phenylmaleimide (PMI) with either styrenics or alkyl vinyl ethers (AVEs), systems with a tendency to give alternating polymers, were investigated with the goal of producing high glass transition particles. Equimolar solution copolymerization of PMI with styrenics gave alternating copolymers, whereas AVEs gave PMI‐rich copolymers (~65:35) except for t‐butyl vinyl ether, which gave copolymers with only a slight excess of PMI. These copolymers had glass transition temperatures (Tgs) ranging from 115 to 225 °C depending on comonomer(s). Dispersion copolymerization in ethanol‐based solvents in the presence of poly(vinylpyrrolidone) as steric stabilizer led to narrow‐disperse microspheres for many copolymers studied. Dispersion copolymeriations of PMI with styrenics required good cosolvents such as acetonitrile or methyl ethyl ketone as plasticizers during particle initiation and growth. Dispersion copolymerizations generally resulted in copolymer particles with compositions and Tgs very similar to those of the corresponding copolymers formed by solution polymerization, with the exception of t‐butyl vinyl ether (tBVE), which now behaved like the other AVEs. Dispersion terpolymerizations of PMI (50 mol %) with different ratios of either n‐butylstyrene and t‐butylstyrene or n‐butyl vinyl ether and tBVE led to polymer particles with Tgs that depended on the ratio of the two butyl monomers. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fast, compact, and power-efficient silicon microcavity electro-optic modulators are expected to be critical components for chip-level optical interconnects. It is highly desirable that these modulators can be driven by voltage swings of 1 V or less to reduce power dissipation and make them compatible with voltage supply levels associated with current and future complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology nodes. Here, we present a silicon racetrack resonator modulator that achieves over 8 dB modulation depth at 12.5 Gbps with a 1 V swing. In addition, the use of a racetrack resonator geometry relaxes the tight lithography resolution requirements typically associated with microring resonators and enhances the ability to use common lithographic optical techniques for their fabrication.  相似文献

Block copolymer inverse micelles from polystyrene-block-poly-2-vinylpyridine (PS-b-P2VP) deposited as monolayer films onto surfaces show responsive behavior and are reversibly switchable between two states of different topography and surface chemistry. The as-coated films are in the form of arrays of nanoscale bumps, which can be transformed into arrays of nanoscale holes by switching through exposure to methanol. The use of these micellar films to act as switchable etch masks for the structuring of the underlying material to form either pillars or holes depending on the switching state is demonstrated.  相似文献

This paper deals with a generalized M/G/1 feedback queue in which customers are either “positive" or “negative". We assume that the service time distribution of a positive customer who initiates a busy period is G e (x) and all subsequent positive customers in the same busy period have service time drawn independently from the distribution G b (x). The server is idle until a random number N of positive customers accumulate in the queue. Following the arrival of the N-th positive customer, the server serves exhaustively the positive customers in the queue and then a new idle period commences. This queueing system is a generalization of the conventional N-policy queue with N a constant number. Explicit expressions for the probability generating function and mean of the system size of positive customers are obtained under steady-state condition. Various vacation models are discussed as special cases. The effects of various parameters on the mean system size and the probability that the system is empty are also analysed numerically. Based on density functional theory, we perform first-principles investigations to study the optical properties of the O-, F- and H-terminated SiC nanoribbons with armchair edges (ASiCNRs). By irradiating with an external electromagnetic field, we calculate the dielectric function, reflection spectra, energy loss coefficient and the real part of the conductance. It is demonstrated that the optical constants are sensitive to the low-energy range, different terminal atoms do not make much difference in the shape of the curves of the optical constants for the same-width ASiCNR, and the optical constants of wider nanoribbons usually have higher peaks than that of the narrower ones in low energy range. We hope that our study helps in experimental technology of fabricating high-quality SiC-based nanoscale photoelectric device.  相似文献

The inclusion complexation behavior and its characterization of Desipramine (DP) with β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) in solution phase are analyzed by UV and fluorescence spectroscopy. The solid inclusion complex is characterized by FT-IR, SEM, Powder XRD and TG/DTA. The stoichiometric ratio of the complexation is found to be 1:1. The orientation and structure of the complex are proposed based on the analysis of Patch-Dock server. The formation of inclusion complex has been confirmed on the base of the changes of spectroscopic properties will be encapsulated in partly either by any aromatic ring or by the aliphatic side chain. But our results showed that the aliphatic group of DP is in the cavity of β-CD.β-CD encapsulation and enhances the in-vitro cytotoxicityeffect of DP compound by forming inclusion complex in the solid state.  相似文献

The recent focus and development of nanotechnology in medicine is countless, which involves diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive systems for various diseases. Nanoparticles have received much attention due to their uses in cancer therapy. The current study focused on the synthesis of baicalein loaded iron oxide nanoparticles and their efficacy against triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) MDA-MB-231. The electron microscopic analysis reveals that the particles were internalized with the various sub cellular regions of selected cancer cells. Further flow cytometric analysis of mitochondrial membrane potential using JC-1 staining showed that significant aggregates were found in the cells treated with baicalein loaded iron oxide nanoparticles, which, in turn, implies momentous mitochondrial membrane potential loss that occurs. Similarly apoptotic and anti-apoptotic gene expression pattern showed that baicalein loaded iron oxide nanoparticles were upregulates the apoptotic genes like Bad, Bax, GADD45 and PARP cleavage in a dose dependant manner. Detailed kit based flowcytometric analysis also reveals that the above findings were significant in the focused field, it is apparent that nano conjugates have the ability to induce apoptosis, DNA damage and cell cycle arrest and decrease the rate of cell proliferation in TNBC cells.  相似文献
