We calculate the spin fluctuation spectra of VN and NbN in the relevant frequency- and wave vector regime. Significant quantitative differences between the dynamical spin susceptibilities of both substances are found. While in the case of VN their amplitudes are large, especially towards the Brillouin zone boundary and for frequencies below 1 eV, enhancement effects in NbN are of minor importance.  相似文献

The optical absorption of silver and gold nanoparticles dispersed within the pores of monolithic mesoporous silica upon annealing at elevated temperatures has been investigated. With decreasing particle size, the surface plasmon resonance position of the particles blue-shifts first and then red-shifts for silver/silica samples, but only red-shifts for gold/silica samples. This size evolution of the resonance position is completely different from that previously reported for fully embedded particles. We assume a local porosity at the particle/matrix interface, such that free surface of particles within the pores may be in contact with ambient air, and present a two-layer core/shell model to calculate the optical properties. These calculations also consider deviations from the optical constants of bulk matter to account for corresponding effects below about 10 nm particle size. From the good agreement between experimental results and model calculations, we conclude a peculiar particle/ambience interaction dominating the size evolution of the resonance. Because of the difference of core electron structure, the relative importance of the effects of local porosity and free surface, respectively, are different for silver and gold. For silver, the effect of the local porosity is stronger, but for gold the opposite is found.  相似文献

The coherence for diffraction effects during grazing scattering of fast hydrogen and helium atoms from a LiF(001) surface with energies up to some keV is investigated via the coincident detection of two-dimensional angular distributions for scattered projectiles with their energy loss. For keV H atoms, we identify electronic excitations of the target surface as the dominant mechanism for decoherence, whereas for He atoms this contribution is small. The suppression of electronic excitations owing to the band gap of insulators plays an essential role for preserving quantum coherence and thus for the application of fast atom diffraction as a surface analytical tool.  相似文献

We devise a protocol in which general nonclassical multipartite correlations produce a physically relevant effect, leading to the creation of bipartite entanglement. In particular, we show that the relative entropy of quantumness, which measures all nonclassical correlations among subsystems of a quantum system, is equivalent to and can be operationally interpreted as the minimum distillable entanglement generated between the system and local ancillae in our protocol. We emphasize the key role of state mixedness in maximizing nonclassicality: Mixed entangled states can be arbitrarily more nonclassical than separable and pure entangled states.  相似文献

The self-assembly of ω-ferrocenylalkanethiols (FcCnSH) with different alkyl-spacer lengths on Au(1 1 1) substrates has been studied by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Upon deposition at room temperature FcCnSH molecules tend to form multilayers, while by thermal treatment monolayer formation, a rearrangement of the molecules and the formation of ordered domains is achieved. The surface structure of the resulting full coverage self-assembled monolayers is resolved with molecular resolution by STM. The ordered monolayer structure of ω-ferrocenylpropanethiol is discussed in comparison with its bulk crystal structure, derived from single crystal X-ray analysis. Based on these results a monolayer structure of ω-ferrocenylalkanethiols with longer alkyl chains closely related to the bulk crystal structure of the shorter alkyl-spacer derivates is suggested. Our results provide detailed insight into the self-assembly of FcCnSH on gold substrates.  相似文献
