This work demonstrates that the most stable structures of even small gas-phase aggregates of cerium oxide with 2-5 cerium atoms show structural motifs reminiscent of the bulk ceria. This is different from main group and transition metal oxide clusters, which often display structural features that are distinctly different from the bulk structure. The structures of Ce(2)O(2)(+), Ce(3)O(4)(+), and (CeO(2))(m)CeO(+) clusters (m = 0-4) are unambiguously determined by a combination of global structure optimizations at the density functional theory level and infrared vibrational predissociation spectroscopy of the cluster-rare gas atom complexes. The structures of Ce(2)O(2)(+) and Ce(2)O(3)(+) exhibit a Ce-O-Ce-O four-membered ring with characteristic absorptions between 430 and 680 cm(-1). Larger clusters have common structural features containing fused Ce-O-Ce-O four-membered rings which lead to intense absorption bands at around 500 and 650 cm(-1). Clusters containing a terminal Ce=O bond show a characteristic absorption band between 800 and 840 cm(-1). For some cluster sizes multiple isomers are observed. Their individual infrared signatures are identified by tuning their relative population through the choice of He, Ne or Ar messenger atoms. The present results allow us to benchmark different density functionals which yield different degrees of localization of unpaired electrons in Ce 4f states.  相似文献

Multicenter (bi-, tri-, and tetranuclear) tetraazamacrocyclic complexes were self-assembled from Ni and Cu tetraazamacrocyclic mononuclear units and α,ω-diamines as building blocks. The structures of all compounds studied were proved by spectroscopic methods (ESI MS and NMR spectroscopy). Electrochemical experiments revealed reversible one-electron electrode processes at each of the Ni(2+) and Cu(2+) centers with formation of metal cations in oxidation state +3. Long linkers allow bi- and trinuclear complexes with noninteracting metal centers to be obtained. In the case of the short linkers (e.g. ethylenediamine) higher, trinuclear species are formed as major product. The structures of the bis- and tris-macrocyclic systems were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The tris-macrocyclic systems form cations in the shape of triangles partially filled with counterions and solvent molecules. The cations form positively charged layers, which interact in the crystal lattice with the neighboring negatively charged layers of anions. In solution, the trinuclear complexes exhibit strong host-guest interactions with 9,10-dimethyltriptycene due to complementarity of shape and size of this guest molecule. The association constants were determined by NMR spectroscopy and voltammetry, and very good agreement was obtained. The structural flexibility of the tetranuclear complex with long linkers allows for attractive interactions between the metal-complexing macrocycles that result in folding of the molecule. On the contrary, no folding is possible in the case of short linkers consisting of two CH(2) groups.  相似文献

We observed two ultrabroadband near-infrared (NIR) luminescence bands around 1.2 and 1.5 μm in as-grown bismuth-doped CsI halide crystals, without additional aftertreatment. Dependence of the NIR emission properties on the excitation wavelength and measurement temperature was studied. Two kinds of NIR active centers of subvalent bismuth and color centers were demonstrated to coexist in Bi:CsI crystal. The eye-safe 1.5 μm emission band with an FWHM of 140 nm and lifetime of 213 μs at room temperature makes Bi:CsI crystal promising in the applications of the ultrafast laser and ultrabroadband amplifier.  相似文献

Formation of complexes between crown ethers and cyclodextrins has been studied using diffusion measurements. The structures of the complexes have been proposed on the basis of the theoretical calculations and the results obtained. The influence of acid-base polar modifiers (σ-μ complex): amine-alkoxide, amine-ether-alkoxide, and ether-alkoxide complexes on microstructure of polybutadiene obtained by anionic polymerization was studied. The content of butadiene isomeric structures was determined based on FT-IR-ATR, 1H, and 13C NMR data analyses. The results obtained indicated a very similar influence of all types of polar modifiers forming σ-μ complex on polymer microstructure leading to high vinyl polybutadiene with nearly equal ratios of cis-1,4 and trans-1,4 butadiene isomeric structures.  相似文献
