We have used a flow calorimeter and a flow densimeter for measurements leading to apparent molar heat capacities and apparent molar volumes of dilute aqueous solutions of NaIO3, KMnO4, and MnCl2 at 25°C. These apparent molar quantities have been extrapolated to infinite dilution to obtain the corresponding standard state apparent and partial molar heat capacities and volumes. which have then been used for the calculation of conventional ionic heat capacities and volumes. 相似文献

A spectrophotometric and a photometric titration method in a two-phase system for the determination of gold with ferroin is reported. Both methods are rapid and reproducible with an accuracy of ±1%. In the spectrophotometric determination Co2+, Cu2+, Ni2+ , Fe3+, Zn2+, Mn2+ and Cr3+ do not interfere with the determination of gold and Pt4+, Pd2+, Hg2+, Ir4+ and Os4+ can be tolerated up to a ratio of 1:1. The titrations can also be carried out in the presence of a number of diverse ions, e.g. Ni2+, Cu2+, Co2+, Fe3+, Zn2+, Cr3+, Mn2+, without interference; the platinum metals and Hg2+ cause interference but, by the use of the spectrophotometric procedure, this can be reduced. 相似文献

[Ru2Mn(O)(O2CtBu)6(py)3] has an S=5/2 ground state with a very large zero‐field splitting (ZFS) of D=2.9 cm?1, as characterized by EPR spectroscopy at 4–330 GHz. This is far too large to be due to the MnII ion (D <0.2 cm?1), as shown from the {Fe2Mn} analogue, but can be modeled by antisymmetric exchange effects. 相似文献

Multiple sources of ascertainment were used to identify families with myotonic dystrophy in Northern Ireland. A total of 59 families with 188 living affected members were identified. The prevalence rate was 119.5 x 10(-6) in a total population of 1.5 million, a rate similar to neighbouring communities. Information about the natural history of the disease in these families enabled analysis of age of onset, fertility, fitness and age at death. 相似文献

Fast ions are observed to be very well confined in the Madison Symmetric Torus reversed field pinch despite the presence of stochastic magnetic field. The fast-ion energy loss is consistent with the classical slowing down rate, and their confinement time is longer than expected by stochastic estimates. Fast-ion confinement is measured from the decay of d-d neutrons following a short pulse of a 20 keV atomic deuterium beam. Ion confinement agrees with computation of particle trajectories in the stochastic magnetic field, and is understood through consideration of ion guiding center islands. 相似文献

A study of the adsorptive stripping voltammetry of nickel, aluminium, selenium and arsenic is reported in which 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (DMTD) has been used as a chelating agent. By a suitable choice of deposition potential, deposition time, reagent reaction time and other operating conditions, the determination of the four elements could be achieved.By the use of benzyltrimethyl ammonium methoxide as a digesting solvent, it was possible to apply the procedure to the direct determination of the four elements in biological samples. 相似文献

A study of chlorophenols using differential pulse cathodic stripping voltammetry (dpcsv) is reported. Of the wide range of chlorophenols investigated, only pentachlorophenol and 2,3,4,6-tetrachlorophenol yield stripping peaks.For pentachlorophenol in water, two peaks are obtained at stripping potentials of –1.2 V and –1.58 V versus SCE. In methanol, pentachlorophenol shows one peak with a stripping potential at –1.6 V versus SCE.In the case of 2,3,4,6-tetrachlorophenol in water, two peaks are observed at –1.06 V and –1.6 V versus SCE, while in methanol only one peak arises at a stripping potential of –1.6 V. Complementary measurements of ion energy distributions in a magnetically confined high-temperature plasma show that magnetic reconnection results in both anisotropic ion heating and the generation of suprathermal ions. The anisotropy, observed in the C(+6) impurity ions, is such that the temperature perpendicular to the magnetic field is larger than the temperature parallel to the magnetic field. The suprathermal tail appears in the majority ion distribution and is well described by a power law to energies 10 times the thermal energy. We report the development of a new optical flow tagging velocimetry technique for hydrodynamic flows. The method utilizes highly water-soluble caged dye Photo-Activated Fluorophores (PAF's) which serve as fluorescent tracers, with essentially indefinite lifetime. Demonstration experiments are presented in a bench-top poiseulle flow and a 5,000 gallon water channel facility. Results of experiments designed to quantify critical optical characteristics of the caged dye PAF's are also presented, as is a comparison with other, similar, optical velocimetry approaches.The authors wish to acknowledge R.
