The influence of photodissociated N2O in pulsed-laser deposition of Y-Ba-Cu-O films

Pulsed-laser deposition of YBa₂Cu₃O₇ in N₂O permits lowering of the substrate temperature with respect to deposition in O₂ atmosphere. Hindered motions in a ketonea-urea inclusion compound. An ESR and ENDOR study

We have studied by ESR and ENDOR spectroscopy the free radicals produced in γ-irradiated inclusion compound formed between the ketone 10-nonadecanone and urea. Only one type of long lived radical is formed by the removal of an α-proton from the ketone. The hyperfine (hf) coupling constants of the α- and β-protons of the radicals have been measured by ESR at different temperatures in the range 110–292 K and at different orientations of the crystals. The hf coupling of the γ-protons of the radical and of the urea protons have been studied by ENDOR. The temperature and angular dependences of the coupling constants have been analyzed in terms of the internal and overall motions of the radical inside the hexagonal channels formed by the urea molecules. It has been found that the radical cannot perform complete reorientations around the long molecular axis, but it undergoes restricted rotational diffusion. This process is explained by assuming a coupling between the rotational and translational degrees of freedom of the radical inside the urea channels.

A survey is presented of what has been learned from vibrational spectroscopy and theory about the structure and reorientation kinetics of hydrogen-passivated shallow impurities in Si.     

Calculation of photoionization cross sections of small metal clusters

In this paper we present photoionization cross sections of the Cu and Al dimers and tetramers. The local spin density method is applied to calculate the electronic structure and the ground state potential. The cross sections are calculated using the continuum multiple scattering method, and a basic analysis of the photoionization process is given within the independent particle picture.

Summary Acetals3 and4 of alkylthienylcarbinols1 were prepared using an enantiomerically pure lactol2. In the key step these compounds were desulfurized. After deprotection the target compounds7 andent-7 were obtained.

Nonlinear Filtering for Diffusions in Random Environments

Suppose that the signal X to be estimated is a diffusion process in a random medium W and the signal is correlated with the observation noise. We study the historical filtering problem concerned with estimating the signal path up until the current time based upon the back observations. Using Dirichlet form theory, we introduce a filtering model for general rough signal X ^W and establish a multiple Wiener integrals representation for the unnormalized pathspace filtering process. Then, we construct a precise nonlinear filtering model for the process X itself and give the corresponding Wiener chaos decomposition.
