Codiameters of 3‐connected 3‐domination critical graphs

A graph G is 3‐domination critical if its domination number γ is 3 and the addition of any edge decreases γ by 1. Let G be a 3‐connected 3‐domination critical graph of order n. In this paper, we show that there is a path of length at least n?2 between any two distinct vertices in G and the lower bound is sharp. © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Strength of cylinder joint adhesively bonded by coupling

Summary A method of joining two metal cylindrical shafts with adhesive coupling is proposed. Two cylindrical shafts with the same diameter are connected by bonding through a cylindrical coupling with epoxy resin. The strength of the shaft joint under tensile loading and torsional loading is investigated analytically and experimentally. The stress and strain distributions of the shaft joint is analyzed by the finite element method. The analyzed strain distributions in the joint are compared with experimental values. The joint strength is predicted by applying the strength laws of shafts, coupling, adhesive layer and adhesive interface between shaft and adhesive coupling. The effects of the coupling dimension on the joint strength are examined. It is shown that the adhesive shaft joint can transfer the load by which the cylindrical shafts are plastically deformed.This paper was refined by the author, K. 矩孔金属光栅矢量模式理论的数值计算

根据矩孔金属光栅的矢量模式理论，计算了不同入射方向，波长及偏振态情况下衍射场的分布，研究了不同光栅结构对衍射效率，偏振态变化的影响；同时，根据实际需要，加工制作了一批不同深度的矩孔光栅样品，进行了实验测量，并将计算值与实验值进行了比较，两者基本相符。     

Preparing polymer brushes on polytetrafluoroethylene films by free radical polymerization

Films of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) were exposed to sodium naphthalenide (Na/naphtha) etchant so as to defluorinate the surface for obtaining hydroxyl functionality. Surface-initiators were immobilized on the PTFE films by esterification of 4,4′-azobis(4-cyanopentanoic acid) (ACP) and the hydroxyl groups covalently linked to the surface. Grafting of polymer brushes on the PTFE films was carried out by the surface-initiated free radical polymerization. Homopolymers brushes of methyl methacrylate (MMA) were prepared by free radical polymerization from the azo-functionalized PTFE surface. The chemical composition and topography of the graft-functionalized PTFE surfaces were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), attenuated total reflectance (ATR) FT-IR spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Water contact angles on PTFE films were reduced by surface grafting of MMA.     

Strategies for the development of a voltammetric sensor for the determination of hydrogen peroxide at high concentrations

Different strategies are presented for the development of a voltammetric sensor for in-line measurement and monitoring of H₂O₂ in high concentrations (up to 30 g/l) as used in textile bleaching systems. When using macroelectrodes, signal saturation is observed even at medium concentrations. Some improvement can be achieved by hydrodynamic electrodes like ring-disk electrodes. Satisfactory results up to the desired level in practical solutions (possessing only limited conductivity) are obtained with Pt-microelectrodes.

Use of a long-spacer-side-chain liquid crystalline polysiloxane containing a crown ether as a stationary phase for capillary gas chromatography

A new kind of side chain liquid crystalline polysiloxane containing a crown ether with a longer spacer (PSC-11) has been prepared and coated on a fused silica capillary column. The main chroma-tographic characteristics including efficiency, polarity, and selectivity have been examined. The phase exhibits the retention properties of both liquid crystal and crown ether stationary phases and possesses higher efficiency and better selectivity than PSC-3, which has a shorter spacer between the main polysiloxane chain and liquid crystalline side chain.     

Patterned uniformly orientated silicon nanocrystallite films and efficient field emission characteristics

Patterned uniformly (100)-orientated silicon nanocrystallite (SiNC) films were fabricated based on hydrogen ion implantation technique and typical electrochemical anodic etching method. The surface morphology and microstructure characteristics of the films were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and atomic force microscopy. The efficient field emission with low turn-on field of about 3.2 V/μm at current density of 0.1 μA/cm² was obtained. The emission current density from the SiNC films reached 1 mA/cm² under a bias field of about 11 V/μm. The experimental results demonstrate that the SiNC films have great potential applications for flat panel displays.     

Palladium-Catalyzed Buchwald-Hartwig Type Amination of Fluorous Arylsulfonates

Palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of aryl perfluorooctanesulfonates with amines are introduced. Application of the fluorous tag in multistep synthesis of triaryl-substituted pyrimidine is also described.
