Bridged bis-pyridinylimino dinickel(II) complexes: Syntheses, characterization, ethylene oligomerization and polymerization

A series of bridged bis(pyridinylimino) ligands were efficiently synthesized through the condensation reaction of 4,4′-methylene-bis(2,6-disubstituted aniline) with 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde or 2-benzoylpyridine. They reacted with (DME)NiBr₂ to form dinuclear Ni(II) complexes. All resultant compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra as well as the single-crystal X-ray diffraction to confirm the structures of ligands and complexes. Activated with methylaluminoxane (MAO), these nickel complexes showed considerably good activities for ethylene oligomerization and polymerization. Their catalytic activities and the properties of PEs obtained were depended on the arched environment of ligand and reaction conditions.

High-efficiency, environment-friendly electroluminescent polymers with stable high work function metal as a cathode: green- and yellow-emitting conjugated polyfluorene polyelectrolytes and their neutral precursors

A series of aminoalkyl-substituted polyfluorene copolymers with benzothiadiazole (BTDZ) of different content were synthesized by Suzuki coupling reaction, and their quaternized ammonium polyelectrolyte derivatives were obtained through a postpolymerization treatment on the terminal amino groups. Copolymers are soluble in environmentally friendlier solvents, such as alcohols. It was found that the efficient energy transfer occurs by exciton trapping on the narrow band gap BTDZ site under UV illumination. Only 1% of BTDZ content is needed to completely quench a fluorene emission for both the neutral and the quaternized copolymers in the neat film. Absolute PL efficiencies of copolymer films were greatly enhanced as a result of the suppression of excimer formation. Light-emitting devices fabricated from these copolymers show high external quantum efficiencies over 3% and 1% for the neutral precursor and the quaternized copolymers, respectively, with high work function metals such as Al as a cathode. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on an electroluminescent polymer which bears the high EL efficiency, the electron-injection ability from high work function metals, and the solubility in environment-friendly solvents at the same time. These features make them a promising candidate for the next generation of light-emitting copolymers in PLED flat panel display application.     

Preparation of Ce-Zr-O solid solution

A single phase solid solution of Ce-Zr-O can be made by using NH₄HCO₃ solution as precipitating agent. The influence of preparation conditions, such as pH, Zr⁴⁺/(CO₃ ^2-+HCO₃ ^-) and Ce³⁺/Zr⁴⁺ ratio on the formation of the solid solution were investigated. The results show that a single phase Ce-Zr-O solid solution can be formed only under a narrow window of preparation conditions, indicating that some compounds are formed in the precipitating process. The compound may contain Ce³⁺, Zr⁴⁺, CO₃ ^2-, HCO^3-, and OH^-. The solid solution so prepared can be described as Ce_0.37Zr_0.63O₂. C9‐Iridoids from Scrophularia buergeriana

Four new iridoids, buergerinins B–E ( 1 – 4 ), along with three known iridoids, were isolated from the roots of Scrophularia buergeriana. Their structures were identified on the basis of spectroscopic analysis.     

Synthesis of Spiropyrimidodiazepines and Spirodiazepinopurines by Tandem Nitroso‐ene/Diels–Alder Reactions

New spirocyclic heterocycles 8, 16, 19/20, 25, 27 , and 30 derived from pyrimido[4,5‐b][1,4]diazepin]‐8′(9′H)‐one were synthesised by a tandem nitroso‐ene/Diels–Alder reaction of 4‐(alkenoylamino)‐5‐nitrosopyrimides. The crystal structure of 16 was established by X‐ray analysis. It is characterised by four pairs of intermolecular H‐bonds linking every two molecules in the unit cell. Sequential imine reduction and intramolecular condensation of the C(4′)‐(acylamino)‐pyrimido[4,5‐b][1,4]diazepines 27 and 30 led to the [1,4]diazepino[1,2,3‐gh]purines 28 / 29 and 31 , respectively.     

Isolation and Structural Characterization of Di‐ and Tetra‐protonated Forms of the Macrocyclic Hexaamine trans‐6,13‐Dimethyl‐1,4,8‐11‐tetraazacyclodecane‐6,13‐diamine

Cations derived by protonation of the ligand title compound (L¹) have been structurally characterized in their di‐ and tetra‐ protonated forms in the salts [H₂L¹][ClO₄]₂·2H₂O and [H₄L¹][ZnCl₄]₂·4H₂O. In both structures, one half of the formula unit comprises the asymmetric unit of the structure, the macrocycle being centrosymmetric, with the two macrocycles adopting similar conformations. In both salts, a pair of diagonally opposed macrocyclic secondary amine groups are protonated; in the [H₄L¹]⁴⁺ salt, the additional pair of protons are accommodated on the exocyclic pendant amine groups. The dispositions of the pendent amines differ between the two structures, being ‘equatorial’ with respect to the macrocyclic ring in the [H₂L¹]²⁺ salt, and ‘axial’ in the [H₄L¹]⁴⁺ salt. In other structurally characterized compounds containing [H₄L¹]⁴⁺ the equatorial disposition was found in the ferricyanide adduct, while in the tetraperchlorate salt the axial disposition was identified. The differences in disposition of the exocyclic groups are ascribed to the extensive H‐bonding in the lattices.     

Determination of acetone, hexanal and heptanal in blood samples by derivatization with pentafluorobenzyl hydroxylamine followed by headspace single-drop microextraction and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry

In the study, we developed a simple, rapid, sensitive, and inexpensive method for determination of the disease biomarkers of acetone, hexanal and heptanal in human blood. For the first time, derivatization of carbonyls with O-2,3,4,5,6-(pentafluorobenzyl)hydroxylamine (PFBHA) was combined with headspace single-drop microextractin (HS-SDME) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and applied to the analysis of acetone, hexanal, and heptanal in human blood. At first, acetone, hexanal and heptanal in blood were derivatized with PFBHA and formed oximes in several seconds. Sequentially, the oximes were headspace extracted and concentrated by a microdrop solvent. Finally, the extracted oximes were analyzed by GC–MS. HS-SDME conditions and method validations were studied. Due to needing of only 2 μl organic solvent, short extraction time of 8 min, and simple operation, derivatization-HS-SDME was shown to be a rapid, simple, and inexpensive technique for analysis of acetone, hexanal, and heptanal in human blood. Moreover, it had low detection limit values from 0.24 to 0.62 nM, and good reproducibility (R.S.D. less than 12%).     

3-(Triethoxysilyl)propionitrile sol-gel coating

3-(Triethoxysilyl)propionitrile (TESPN) sol-gel has been prepared under different conditions. It was employed for coating the surfaces of quartz and aluminum. Infrared (IR) and Raman spectra of TESPN and TESPN sol-gels have been recorded in the study of the sol-gel process. Transmission and reflection absorption IR (RAIR) spectra of TESPN sol-gel coated quartz and aluminum have also been collected for better understanding the film formation on the substrate surfaces. Spectra collected at different temperatures indicated that the silane film on quartz decomposes at 700 degrees C. Results from thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) supported this result. Based on the group frequencies and the spectral behavior in different states, some vibrational modes were assigned to the observed bands. The anticorrosion behavior of the sol-gel coated aluminum in comparison with the uncoated metal was evaluated by measuring the potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS).
