Morin applied in speciation of aluminium in natural waters and biological samples by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection

A reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic method with fluorescence detection for the determination of labile monomeric aluminium has been developed through pre-column complexation using morin as the analytical reagent. The highly fluorescent aluminium-morin complex (excitation wavelength 418 nm, emission wavelength 490 nm) was separated on a Spherisorb ODS 2 column with an eluent consisting of 30% methanol and 70% water (pH 1.0 with perchloric acid). The most remarkable point of this protocol was that only the most toxic aluminium species, that is, free aqua-aluminium ion and its monomeric hydroxo complex ions, selectively respond among various aluminium complexes. This strategy has been successfully applied to direct fractionation of the toxic aluminium in natural waters and biological samples without any pretreatment.     

Synthesis of a novel bridged nucleoside bearing a fused-azetidine ring, 3′-amino-3′,4′-BNA monomer

A novel bridged nucleic acid monomer, 3′-amino-3′-deoxy-5-methyl-3′-N,4′-C-methyleneuridine, was successfully synthesized via a useful and convenient azetidine ring formation under Staudinger's conditions. A ¹H NMR experiment and a PM3 calculation revealed that the sugar moiety of the novel bridged nucleic acid monomer, 3′-amino-3′,4′-BNA, was restricted to S-type conformation.     

Prins-Reaktionen mit Arylaldehyden, 2. Mitt. Diene

By 1,4-addition of arylaldehydes to 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene in the presence of sulfuric acid 2-aryl-4,5-dimethyl-3,6-dihydro-2H-pyrans are obtained. From 1,3-butadiene and isoprene beside the corresponding 3,6-dihydro-2H-pyrans by reaction with two more molecules aldehydetrans-2,4,7-triphenyl-4a,7,8,8a-tetrahydro-4H,5H-pyrano[4,3-d-1,3-dioxines are formed. With 1,3-cyclohexadiene, however, 1,2-addition of benzaldehyde is observed to givecis-r-2,c-4-diphenyl-4a,5,6,8a-tetrahydro-1,3-benzodioxane.

Registrierende Messung des mechanischen Verlustes von Kunststoffproben

Zusammenfassung Ein neues Verfahren, das eine unmittelbare und kontinuierliche Registrierung des mechanischen Verlustwinkels über einen weiten Temperaturbereich erm?glicht, wird beschrieben. Die Probe wird einer periodischen Biegung (f=2,5 Hz) unterworfen; die Zeit des Kraftnulldurchgangs relativ zur Bewegung ist dem Verlustwinkel proportional und wird elektronisch ermittelt. Das Me\ergebnis ist weitgehend von der Probenform und deren ?nderung w?hrend der Messung (Krümmung der Probe, thermische Ausdehnung usw). unabh?ngig. Der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft sei für die Unterstützung dieser Arbeit verbindlichst gedankt.     

Quasiregular points and time changes

For a one-parameter flow without stationary points it is proved that the notion of quasiregular point depends solely on the orbit structure (i. e. not on the parametrization of time). This leads naturally to an affine isomorphism between the cones of invariant measures before and after a continuous time change, a fact which is due toB. For such curves we know a moving frame and a complete system of invariants (affine curvatures) with respect to the group of volume-conserving transformations (unimodular group) of the order 2n?1 respectively 2n (see [1], p. 171). In this paper we study for a curvec a moving frame and a system of invariants of the minimal ordern+1, respectivelyn+2, by means of a curve with vanishing affine curvatures that has contact of maximal order withc. Forn=3 this is a result ofA. Winternitz ([1], p. 171 or [3], p. 86).     

On the speed of convergence in the ergodic theorem

Given any ergodic invertible measure preserving transformation τ of [0,1] and any null-sequence (α _N ) of positive reals, there exists a continuousf such that $$\lim \sup \alpha _{\rm N}^{ - 1} \left| {N^{ - 1} \sum\limits_{k = 0}^{N - 1} {f \circ \tau ^k - \smallint f} } \right| = \infty a. e.,$$ i.e. there is no “speed of convergence” in the ergodic theorem for any τ. The analogous result holds also for norm-convergence.
