Solid sampling graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy (SS-GFAAS) has been used for the determination of traces of heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Cu, Cr, Ni, V and As) in barytes over a wide concentration range, e.g. Cd from 0.023 to 27.0 μg/g and Pb from 1.54 to 3509 μg/g.The necessity of determining heavy metals in commercial barytes (naturally occurring barium sulfate), a mineral important to the oil industry because of its use in drilling muds, is discussed. The problems presented by the analysis of this difficult matrix are elegantly solved by using SS-GFAAS for the direct determination of heavy metals. A high-performance graphite furnace AAS with D2-background correction system and a transversely heated graphite atomizer was used for the investigations. The spectrometer was combined with a mechanical sampling module and an ultramicrobalance. The transfer of solid samples (sample weights 0.031–0.686 mg) into the atomizer was carried out by using an optimized graphite platform as the sample carrier. Calibration curve techniques and standard addition methods were employed using external standards (CRMs). Problems associated with signal deformations like multiple peaks, tailing or shoulders are also discussed and possibilities to solve the problems are given. The influence of the homogeneity of solid samples on the precision and accuracy are shown in a real example. The results obtained by SS-GFAAS were compared with results by other methods like X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) and flame AAS after aqua regia microwave extraction. This study has demonstrated that SS-GFAAS is a very powerful and easy-to-use method for quick and accurate analysis of barytes. Relative permittivity measurements were made on binary mixtures of (1,2-butanediol + 2-ethyl-1-hexanol) and (1,2-butanediol + 1,4-dioxane) for various concentrations at T = (298.2, 308.2, and 318.2) K. The molecular dipole moments were determined using Guggenheim–Debye method in the temperature range of (298.2 to 318.2) K. The variations of effective dipole moment and correlation factor, g, with the mole fraction in these materials were investigated using Kirkwood–Frohlich equation. The pure compounds showed a negative and small temperature coefficient of effective dipole moment. In order to obtain valuable information about heterogeneous interaction (interactions between the unlike molecules), the Kirkwood correlation factor, the Bruggeman dielectric factor and the excess permittivity were calculated. In addition, in order to predict the permittivity data of polar-apolar binary mixtures, five mixing rules were applied.  相似文献

Nowadays, the eye-catching characteristics of boron nitride nanotubes, in particular, the capability of sensing nano-objects, have opened up new prospects to develop the bio-/nano-sensing technologies. This research deals with physically affected single-walled boron nitride nanotubes (SWBNNT) as nano-sensors for sensing attached nanoscale objects. Three different boundary conditions including simply supported at both ends, clamped-free and clamped-clamped are considered to illustrate the vibrational behaviour of SWBNNTs as nano-sensor. The Rayleigh and Timoshenko beam theories are employed to model the SWBNNT. Also, the nonlocal strain gradient model is utilized to capture the size-dependent effects. One of the major factors in the scrutiny of mass nano-sensors is pertinent to the variation in frequency shift magnitudes against the number and mass weight values of attached nanoparticles. Herein, the effects of the nonlocal and material length scale parameters, the number and location of nano-objects, the rotary inertia and mass weight magnitudes of attached nanoparticles, the aspect ratio of SWBNNT, electrical potential and different boundary conditions on the variation in frequency shift and resonant frequency are analysed.  相似文献

Influence of radiation on unsteady hydromagnetic natural convection transient flow near an impulsively moving vertical flat plate with ramped wall temperature in a porous medium is studied. Exact solution of momentum and energy equations, under Boussinesq approximation, is obtained in closed form by Laplace transform technique. In this paper, a size-dependent first-order shear deformable shell model is developed based upon the modified strain gradient theory (MSGT) for the axial buckling analysis of functionally graded (FG) circular cylindrical microshells. It is assumed that the material properties of FG materials, which obey a simple power-law distribution, vary through the thickness direction. The principle of virtual work is utilized to formulate the governing equations and corresponding boundary conditions. Numerical results are presented for the axial buckling of FG circular cylindrical microshells subject to simply-supported end conditions and the effects of material length scale parameter, material property gradient index, length-to-radius ratio and circumferential mode number on the size-dependent critical buckling load are extensively studied. For comparison purpose, the critical buckling loads predicted by modified couple stress theory (MCST) and classical theory (CT) are also presented. Results show that the size effect plays an important role for lower values of dimensionless length scale parameter. Moreover, it is observed that the critical buckling loads obtained based on MSGT are greater than those obtained based on MCST and CT.  相似文献
