A possible explanation is given of the chemical shifts of x-ray K-absorption edges of metals when they undergo a chemical
combination and form compounds. It is proposed that when a metal forms a compound its Fermi edge changes. It explains the
numerical order as well as the nature of the chemical shifts. A fairly good agreement between the calculated and observed

Bohm and Pines' Hamiltonian and their dispersion relation have been extended up to second order to account for double plasmon oscillations in the X-ray emission spectra of solids. The effect of interaction between electrons and plasmons has also been taken into account in the dispersion relation. An expression for the relative intensity of low-energy double plasmon satellites has been derived. Fairly good agreement is obtained between values of the relative intensity calculated using this expression and values observed experimentally by Jenkins and Chung. 相似文献

The reaction of metal complexes of the type [M(HL)Cl] or [M(HL)2] [where M = Cu(II), Ni(II), Mn(II), Co(II) and Zn(II) and H2L = N-benzoyldithiocarbazate] with an excess of ethylenediamine (en) in CHCl3–MeOH medium leads to ring closure by desulfurisation to yield unique mixed-ligand complexes 1–4, [Cu(en)2](pot)2(pot = 5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol), [M(en)2(pot)2] [M = Ni(II), Mn(II)] and [Zn(en)(pot)2]. The metal complexes have been characterized by various physicochemical methods. The molecular structure of [Cu(en)2](pot)2 has been determined by a single crystal X-ray diffraction study. In the centrosymmetric unit of [Cu(en)2](pot)2, the metal ion has a square planar arrangement of four symmetry related N-atoms of two en groups and is ionically bonded to two pot anions. Weak interaction studies on the complex reveal the presence of a hydrogen-bonded network in the molecule involving non-coordinating donor atoms of the pot anion with en resulting in the formation of an extended three-dimensional network. The arrangement of the [Cu(en)2]2+ units, at a dihedral angle of 49.43° to pot−, provides a network of intermingled chains leading to a π–π stacked 3-dimensional framework. 相似文献

Densities, viscosities, speed of sound, and IR spectroscopy of binary mixtures of tert-butyl acetate (TBA) with benzene, methylbenzene, and ethylbenzene have been measured over the entire range of composition, at (298.15 and 308.15) K and at atmospheric pressure. From the experimental values of density, viscosity, speed of sound, and IR spectroscopy; excess molar volumes VE, deviations in viscosity Δη, deviations in isentropic compressibility Δκs and stretching frequency ν have been calculated. The excess molar volumes and deviations in isentropic compressibility are positive for the binaries studied over the whole composition, while deviations in viscosities are negative for the binary mixtures. The excess molar volumes, deviations in viscosity, and deviations in isentropic compressibility have been fitted to the Redlich–Kister polynomial equation. The Jouyban–Acree model is used to correlate the experimental values of density, viscosity, and speed of sound. 相似文献

A class of well behaved charged analogues of Schwarzchild’s interior solution has been obtained using a particular electric intensity. The solutions of this class are utilized to depict a superdense star model with surface density 2×1014 g cm−3. The solution obtained is new and the pressure (p), density (c 2 ρ), velocity of sound and (p/(c 2 ρ)) are monotonically decreasing towards the pressure free interface. Moreover the adiabatic constant is found to be more than (4/3) which is necessary for stability under radial perturbation. Also the electric intensity increases monotonically towards the surface. The well behaved model has the maximum mass M=1.740793M Θ , Radius 12.130308 km. The redshift at the center and on the surface is given by z 0=0.384261 and z a =0.292489. Out of the models of superdense star obtained couple of models represent Vela Pulsar for (i) α 2=1.03, b=0.33, , Radius=10.8566 km, M=1.18331M Θ , I=0.642601×1045, (ii) α 2=1.1, b=0.3, , Radius=11.197533 km, M=1.311438M Θ , I=0.774508×1045. All the solutions mentioned above are reducible to Schwarzchild interior solution in the absence of charge. 相似文献

We report the effect of dispersion of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (NPs) on the conductivity, birefringence and fluorescence properties of commercially available room temperature nematic liquid crystal (LC) with the variation of dopant concentration. Significant changes have been observed in transition enthalpy, DC conductivity, photoluminescence and birefringence values of the LC material by the addition of ZnO NPs. While the inclusion of NPs enhances the electrical conductivity of the composite system, it results in a reduction in the birefringence value, which can be attributed to a decrease in the order parameter of the system due to the perturbed geometry of the LC. This also results in the increase in threshold voltage value, which has been speculated as due to the piezoelectric nature of the ZnO NPs. The analysis of the fluorescence spectrum indicates that ZnO NPs enhance the intensity in the LC phase along with a small blue shift. 相似文献

Summary Sea level muon energy spectra at large zenith angles have been derived from the latest JACEE primary spectrum using the Fermilab
Single-Arm Spectrometer data on charged-meson production. The role of increasing total cross-section on the final result for
the energy spectra has been investigated here with special emphasis. The inclusion of the rising total cross-section at cosmic
range of energies, it is seen, has come into much use in explaining the observed data at very high energies.
