Photoluminescence and atomic force microscopy studies on pre- and post-irradiated ruby with Fe3+ ion
Photoluminescence spectra measured for pristine ruby and its two irradiated samples with Fe3+ ion show R1, R2, N lines and a broad band. Decrease in intensities of these features is observed with irradiation of Fe3+ ion in ruby. Progressive structural changes and modifications on surface of irradiated rubies with Fe3+ ion have been observed by atomic force microscopy. Decrease in intensities is discussed in terms of pair formation. 相似文献

Abstract In this study, the molecular weights of the polymer from vinyl benzoate has been reported for different dose rates and different temperatures. The mol.wt. remains around 4000. With increasing dose, the molecular weight increases to about 14,000. The degrees of polymerization and the kinetic chain lengths calculated from the experimentally determined G R values have been compared which show that the kinetic chain length is larger than the D ? Pn. From a plot of the (D ? Pn)?1 vs. R p , an intercept is obtained which is equal to 3.25 × 10?2 which is higher than obtained in conventional polymerization. By examining the effect of temperature on mol.wt., the dependence of R p on dose rate and the absence of induction period it has been concluded that chain transfer occurs to impurities that are generated during radiolysis. 相似文献

A systematic study regarding the role of participant matter and spectator matter in nuclear stopping using isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model is presented. The simulations have been carried out with soft equation of state along with the reduced isospin-dependent cross section to study the effect of different types and sizes of rapidity distributions on nuclear stopping for the whole colliding geometry with density-dependent symmetry energy. In addition to that, we attempt to investigate the role of isospin in heavy-ion collisions by calculating the individual contribution of neutrons and protons in nuclear stopping for different systems having different isotopic content. 相似文献

In this study, parallel computation of unsteady incompressible flow in an asymmetrically constricted 3D vessel has been presented. A time accurate cell centered finite volume method (FVM) in conjunction with pseudo-compressibility technique and Roe's flux difference splitting of nonlinear terms has been employed for solving the Navier-Stokes (NS) equations on the multiple instruction multiple data (MIMD) machine VPP700. The influence of Reynolds' number ( Re ) and the Strouhal number ( St ) on flow dynamic factors like wall pressure (WP), wall shear stress (WSS), central axis velocity (CAV), etc., have been analyzed. Oxide films, 7–10 µm thick, were produced on commercially pure titanium by plasma electrolytic oxidation in a sodium orthophosphate electrolyte using a pulsed unipolar current with frequency (f) and duty cycle (δ) varying within f = 0.1–10 kHz and δ = 0.8–0.2, respectively. The coatings comprised a mixture of an amorphous phase with nanocrystalline anatase and rutile phases, where the relative rutile content range was 17–25 wt%. Incorporation of phosphorus from the electrolyte into the coating in the form of PO2 –, PO3 2– and PO4 3–, as demonstrated by EDX and FT-IR analyses, contributed to the formation of the amorphous phase. Residual stresses associated with the crystalline coating phase constituents were evaluated using the X-ray diffraction sin2 ψ method. It was found that, depending on the treatment parameters, internal direct and shear stresses in anatase ranged from–205 (±17) to–431 (±27) MPa and from–98 (±6) to–145 (±10) MPa, respectively, whereas the rutile structure is comparatively stress-free. 相似文献

We report the inverse Meyer–Neldel (MN) rule in the thermally activated crystallization of a hybrid composite of phenol formaldehyde using two experimental approaches. In the first experiment, the annealing time dependence of the pre-exponential factor K 0 and the activation energy of crystallization E c were studied. In the second experiment, the annealing temperature dependence of the same parameters was investigated. Abstract Reaction of the 4-C-lithiomethyl intermediates, obtained from 4-deoxy-4-C-iodomethylglucopyranosides 5a,b, with open-chain glucose derivative 8 afforded 4-deoxy-4-C-heptitylglucopyranosides 9a,b. Mesylation of the newly generated hydroxy group and then desilylation gave 11a,b which were subjected to ring closure under basic conditions. Surprisingly, no C-bridged cellobiosides 12a,b (or, alternatively the corresponding maltosides) were obtained as major products; with loss of one benzyl alcohol residue the furanosides 13a,b were preferentially formed. CaFe2O4 nanocrystalline powders were synthesized through sol–gel treatment in which the stoichiometric mixing of various nitrates involving calcium and iron in presence of citric acid was performed. Subsequently, the as prepared sample was annealed at various temperatures in order to obtain the fine distribution of size including the bulk counterpart. The samples were then characterized using powder X-ray diffraction followed by 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy, SQUID as well as vibrating sample magnetometry. The results of spectroanalyses revealed that the samples were formed in single phase cubic spinel structure and exhibits room temperature superparamagnetism, except the bulk one, which crystallizes in characteristic orthorhombic structure of CaFe2O4 and displays trivial coercivity and remanent magnetization at room temperature. 相似文献
