The obtained heats of combustion were 46.65 ± 0.20; 38.09 ± 0.31; 39.67 ± 0.22; 41.88 ± 0.31; 37.86 ± 0.46; 39.89 ± 0.09; 41.28 ± 0.31 MJ/kg for diesel, transesterified soybean oil, pyrolysed soybean oil and crude soybean oil, transesterified palm tree oil (Elaeis sp.), pyrolysed palm tree oil, crude palm tree oil, respectively. The results show the heats of combustion of biofuels are approximately 17% smaller than traditional diesel. The data also show the heats of combustion depend on the methodology used for the biofuel production. Addition of biofuels to traditional diesel fuel results in a linear decrease of the heat of combustion with the amount of the alternative fuel added to the diesel. However, for blends with 5% biofuels, which is the limit demanded by Brazilian legislation, no significant decrease of the heat of combustion of the commercial diesel was observed.  相似文献

TiO2 nanotubes have been synthesized in a hydrothermal system. The nanotubes were characterized by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), FT-Raman spectroscopy and surface charge density by surface area analyzer. These nanocatalysts were applied to photocatalyse indigo carmine dye degradation. Photodegradation ability of TiO2 nanotubes was compared to TiO2 anatase photoactivity. Indigo carmine dye was completely degraded at 60 and 110 min of reaction catalysed by TiO2 nanotubes and TiO2 anatase, respectively. TiO2 nanotubes presented high photodegradation activity at pH 2 and TiO2 anatase at pH 4. TiO2 nanotubes were easily recycled whereas the reuse of TiO2 anatase was not effective. Nanotubes maintained 90% of activity after 10 catalytic cycles and TiO2 anatase presented only 10% of its activity after 10 cycles.  相似文献

Double‐walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were modified using melamine to attach ? NH2 to the surface of these fillers, without previous oxidation of their graphene layers. FT‐Raman, elemental (chemical) and thermogravimetric analysis, confirmed the modification, which was more extensive for DWCNTs. The potential of this modification was evaluated by adding the melamin‐modified nanotubes to thermosets based on diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (resin) and polycyclic amine (hardener). Broadening of the glass transition interval and an increase between 7 and 8 °C of the glass transition temperatures show better filler/matrix interaction for the nanocomposites based on melamine‐modified nanotubes. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract

The antiviral potential of natural polysaccharide compounds has been demonstrated, especially against enveloped viruses and members of the Herpesviridae family. Two polysaccharide fractions obtained from Stevia rebaudiana (Bertoni) leaves, that were active against Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) were studied to investigate their mode of action. Both polysaccharides - SFW (crude faction) and SSFK (homogeneous alkaline fraction) - exerted antiviral effects on the initial stages of HSV-1 infection by inhibiting viral adsorption and penetration. When added after virus internalization, both fractions decreased plaque size. The effect of the fractions was confirmed by investigating viral glycoprotein expression. Based on the mode of action of the polysaccharides demonstrated in the present work and on their selectivity index, the polysaccharides obtained from S. rebaudiana could be an alternative treatment of infections caused by HSV-1.  相似文献

We report on the synthesis, characterization and applications of a Printex L6 carbon-silver hybrid nanomaterial (PC-Ag), which was obtained using a polyol method. In addition, we also highlight the use of Printex L6 nano-carbon as a much cheaper alternative to the use of carbon nanotubes and graphene. The silver nanoparticles (AgNP) were prepared directly on the surface of the Printex 6L carbon “nanocarbon” material using ethylene glycol as the reducing agent. The hybrid nanomaterial was characterized by High-angle annular dark-field transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-TEM), energy–dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), Raman spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Optimized electrocatalytic activity on glassy carbon electrode was reached for the architecture GC/PC-Ag, the silver nanoparticles with size ranging between 1 and 2 nm were well–distributed throughout the hybrid material. The synergy between PC nano-carbons and AgNPs was verified by detection of gallic acid (GA) at a low applied potential (0.091 V vs. Ag/AgCl). GA detection was performed in a concentration range between 5.0 × 10−7 and 8.5 × 10−6 mol L−1, with a detection limit of 6.63 × 10−8 mol L−1 (66.3 nmol L−1), which is considerably lower than similar devices. The approach for fabricating the reproducible GC/PC-Ag electrodes is entirely generic and may be explored for other types of (bio)sensors and devices.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to apply photoacoustic spectroscopy for the ex vivo determination of the penetration rate of a phytotherapic formulation for vitiligo therapeutic, with or without salicylic acid as the promoter agent. In addition, the compound toxicity and morphophysiology effects were evaluated for different concentrations of salicylic acid. The experiments were performed as a function of the period of time of treatment in a well-controlled group of rabbits. Toxic effects were not observed with any of the tested products. All formulations containing salicylic acid induced cutaneous reaction which was dose dependent. The histological analysis showed that the use of the medication was associated with an increased comedogenic effect in relation to the control group, regardless of salicylic acid concentration. Inflammatory reactions and acanthosis were observed only in the animals treated with formulations containing higher concentrations of salicylic acid, while none of these effects were detected with the use of the formulation containing 2.5% (wt/vol) of salicylic acid. Photoacoustic depth monitoring showed that both formulations, with or without salicylic acid, propagated through the skin up to the melanocytes region, suggesting that the transport of the active agent may occur through the epithelial structure without the need of using queratinolitic substances, which are known to induce side effects in the animals.  相似文献

Glass–ceramics for sealing solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) were developed by sintering and crystallization of the powdered glass seal. The non-isothermal sintering kinetics and crystallization kinetics were studied for four glasses in the system 50SiO2·(45−x)BaO·xRO·5Al2O3 (R=Ca, Mg, Zn and x=0, 15) (mol%). Hot-stage microscopy (HSM) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) measurements demonstrated that it is possible to first sinter and then crystallize these glasses obtaining glass–ceramic seals with thermal expansion coefficients in the range 9–12×10−6 K−1.

The non-isothermal sintering kinetics was analyzed by computer simulations using a previously reported model of sintering for polydispersed glass powders which takes into account the particle size distribution, surface energy and viscosity. Good agreement was found between the measured kinetics with HSM and the calculated kinetics for all glasses.  相似文献

Herein, a discussion of the effect of deposition temperature on the magnetic behavior of Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 thin films. The thin films were grown by r.f. sputtering technique on (1 0 0) MgO single-crystal substrates at deposition temperatures ranging between 400 and 800 °C. The grain boundary microstructure was analyzed via atomic force microscopy (AFM). AFM images show that grain size (φ∼70-112 nm) increases with increasing deposition temperature, according to a diffusion growth model. From magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) measurements at room temperature, coercive fields, Hc, between 37and 131 Oe were measured. The coercive field, Hc, as a function of grain size, reaches a maximum value of 131 Oe for φ ∼93 nm, while the relative saturation magnetization exhibits a minimum value at this grain size. The behaviors observed were interpreted as the existence of a critical size for the transition from single- to multi-domain regime. The saturation magnetization (21 emu/g<Ms<60 emu/g) was employed to quantify the critical magnetic intergranular correlation length (Lc≈166 nm), where a single-grain to coupled-grain behavior transition occurs. Experimental hysteresis loops were fitted by the Jiles-Atherton model (JAM). The value of the k-parameter of the JAM fitted by means of this model (k/μo∼50 A m2) was correlated to the domain size from the behavior of k, we observed a maximum in the density of defects for the sample with φ∼93 nm.  相似文献

Quantum dynamical lower bounds for continuous and discrete one-dimensional Dirac operators are established in terms of transfer matrices. Then such results are applied to various models, including the Bernoulli–Dirac one and, in contrast to the discrete case, critical energies are also found for the continuous Dirac case with positive mass.
