Structure and electronic spectra of 2-phenylbenzimidazoles. Quantum chemical analysis of the intramolecular hydrogen bond

Temperature dependence of the iron hyperfine field distribution in amorphous Fe-rich Fe-Zr alloys

The temperature dependence of the iron hyperfine field distribution is reported in melt-quenched amorphous Fe-Zr alloys. The most remarkable feature is the compositinal change in the shape of the average hyperfine field versus temperature curves. The unusual increase in the average hyperfine field below about 85 K is a characteristic feature of the RSG systems; however, no anomaly is observed in the width of the hyperfine field distribution as a function of temperature. The results cannot be properly explained in the framework of the existing spin glass models.     

Effect of aging of the binder on the creep of polymer concrete

Two polyester concretes with diabase and marble fillers and aggregates are used as examples to illustrate the possibility of using a structural approach to evaluate the creep of the composite in the initial state and after preliminary aging under laboratory conditions for a period of 12–13 yrs. Experimental study of the creep of polymer concrete and its structural components (resin and binder) after preliminary aging at elevated temperatures (60, 90°) established that the change that occurs in viscoelastic compliance with aging conforms to the analogy principle with a reduction function that depends on aging temperature and time.Institute of Polymer Mechanics. Logarithmic corrections for dilute uniaxial ferromagnets at the critical dimension

The leading logarithmic corrections to the critical behavior of a dilute uniaxial (Ising) ferromagnet in the disordered phase are derived using renormalization group methods. The values of the exponents in the logarithmic terms differ from those given by previous authors.     

Sample preparation procedure for the determination of sulphur and trace metals in oil products by the ICP with a minitorch using emulsions

A quick sample preparation method was used for the determination of sulphur and trace metals in oil and oily products by the ICP with a minitorch. Stable aqueous emulsions of oils and oil products were made by using two kinds of emulsifiers (one with low sulphur content, the other sulfonated). Aqueous standard solutions can be used for the preparation of calibration solutions. The contents of S, Al, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mg, Ni and Pb in aqueous emulsions were determined and the results were in good agreement with the composition of oil standard solutions used for control analysis procedure.     

Rescaled mean spherical approximation structure factor for an aqueous suspension of polystyrene spheres

Rescaled mean spherical approximation (RMSA) has been used to calculate the structure factor for the aqueous suspension of polystyrene macroions with the interaction potential taken according to Derjaguin and Landau (1941) and Verwey and Overbeek (1948) (DLVO) model. The effects of charge over the macroion and size on the surface potential and therefore, the structure factor have been studied. The breakdown of the DLVO potential with an excess charge over the macroion (⩾800e) has been reported. The oscillation in the first peak height of structure factor versus wave vector curve with size has been correlated with the Debye length.     

Rb3Y2(BO3)3 with a noncentrosymmetric structure

Trirubidium diyttrium triborate contains zigzag chains of corner‐sharing [Y₂O₁₀] dimers. The chains are reinforced by one independent BO₃ group and crosslinked by the other two types of BO₃ groups to form a three‐dimensional framework. Channels along the [100] direction accommodate the Rb⁺ cations.
