Solid-Phase Synthesis of a Monofunctional trans-a(2)Pt(II) Complex Tethered to a Single-Stranded Oligonucleotide

Cross-linking ability is possible with the oligonucleotide-tethered, monofunctional trans-Pt(II) complex shown. It was synthesized by a novel solid-phase approach comprising conjugation of immobilized tetrathymidylic acid with a trans-a(2)Pt(II) building unit, ammonolysis, and transformation of the resulting complex (R=1-N-cyclohexylmethylthyminate) into the chloro derivative (R=Cl). a=NH(2)CH(3), T=thymine.     

Investigation of the combustion of fumes of organochlorine wastes in oxygen environment

An experimental study of the kinetic stage of combustion fumes of organochlorine wastes. We obtained the data on the normal speed of propagation of the flame, and other parameters of the flame front. Also we found an effective constant of the reaction rate and determined requirements for reactors of a high-temperature oxidation of organochlorine waste.     

Synthesis of hybrid photochromes containing fulgimide and salicylidenaniline fragments and study of their properties

Fulgimide salicylidenaniline derivatives were synthesized and studied in solutions and solid-phase films. It was found that the compounds obtained exhibit photochromic properties in different aggregate states. Comparative studies showed that the nature of substituents in the aldehyde moiety of the fulgimide azomethine fragments has little effect on the photochromic properties of the compounds obtained.     

Developing a generalized diffraction model for elastic pd scattering at intermediate energies

A generalization of the Glauber-Sitenko diffraction model that includes the spin dependence of NN amplitudes, the D-wave of the deuteron, and the charge exchange effects is constructed for elastic pd scattering at intermediate energies. The developed model was used to analyze differential cross sections and some spin observables (analyzing powers) at the incident proton energies T _p = 1 GeV, 440 and 250 MeV. It was shown that predictions of the generalized diffraction model agree both with the experimental data and with the exact Faddeev calculations at low transfer momenta.     

New Interpretation of the ABC Effect in Two-Pion Production in NN Collisions

We investigate the basic 2π-fusion reaction pn → d + (ππ)₀ in the energy region T _p = 1–1.4GeV within the framework of a model based on a D ₀₃-dibaryon production and its subsequent decay via two interfering routes: through an intermediate σ meson and through an isovector dibaryon D ₁₂. We demonstrate that the constructive interference of the above two mechanisms gives a strong near-threshold enhancement in the ππ invariant-mass spectrum, i.e., the so-called ABC effect. It is shown that the σ-meson emission from the D ₀₃ dibaryon plays a crucial role in reproducing the shape and position of the ABC enhancement and is tightly related to the idea of chiral symmetry restoration in dense and excited hadronic systems, such as the D ₀₃ state.     

Stability of a microwave heated fluid Layer

When a time harmonic electromagnetic wave impinges on a slaba certain portion of the wave creates heat within the slab throughdipolar and ohmic heating. The electrical and thermal propertiesof the material dictate the dynamical nature of the heatingprocess, as well as the steady-state temperature profile. Thematerial considered here is a slab of fluid. We consider thecase where the fluid is bounded by thin rigid layers of transparentmaterial. The steady-state heating profile governs the typesof convective motions that can occur and also affects the stabilitycharacteristics of temperature, pressure and velocity perturbationsintroduced in the slab. The main objective here is to examinesuch stability characteristics, initially in the linear regime.Both rigid-rigid and rigid-free configurations are considered.     

Synthesis and Structure of Tetraphenylstibonium and Tetraphenylphosphonium Hydrogen Sulfates

Reactions of pentaphenylantimony and pentaphenylphosphorane with sulfuric acid yielded tetraphenylstibonium and tetraphenylphosphonium hydrogen sulfates, respectively; their crystal and molecular structure was determined.     

Synthesis and Structure of Triarylantimony Bis(arenesulfonates)

Triarylantimony bis(arenesulfonates) were prepared by reaction of triarylantimonies with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of arenesulfonic acids. The steric structure of the products was assessed. Triarylantimony bis(arenesulfonates) were reacted with sodium salts to obtain sodium arenesulfonates and the corresponding triarylantimony derivatives.
