Optical spectra of an intracavity two-photon medium with sequeezed inputs

We consider an ensemble of three-level configuration atoms in an optical cavity, interacting through two-photon transitions with a cavity mode, driven by a broad-band squeezed input of finite amplitude. The atom-cavity system is coupled to reservoirs to describe the losses of the atoms and the cavity. Optical spectra in the transmitted and the reflected field are calculated and analysed in the good cavity limit, for the purely absorptive resonant case and the general case, respectively.     

Influence of a background gas on expanding plasma clots

An expansion of finite plasma clots into the background neutral gas is studied numerically. The presented model includes the quasineutrality violation as well as the interpenetration of plasma and neutral gas at the boundary of the plasma. We estimate the region of plasma parameters where the model is correct. Space distributions of main plasma parameters, cooling of electrons and the process of inter-penetration of the plasma and the neutral gas are analysed as well as an empiric formula for electron temperature is found. Finally, it is shown that the most intensive plasma-gas inter-penetration occurs in the case where the initial plasma and gas densities are the same.     

Labelings of two classes of plane graphs

The paper describes magic labelings of type (1,1,1) for two classes of graphs, which are obtained by a combination of vertex, edge and face labelings.     

Spectrophotometric study of bismuth with N-(2-acetamido)iminodiacetic acid (ADA): Determination of bismuth in pharmaceutical formulations

A new method for the Spectrophotometric determination of bismuth using N-(2-acetamido)iminodiacetic acid as complexometric agent is proposed. The complex is formed in a wide pH range, 5.5–7.5, and has a maximum absorption at 265 nm. Beer's law is obeyed in the interval 3.8–17.9 μg of bismuth(III)/ml, with a minimum photometric error of 2.3. The molar absorptivity is 9.1 × 10³ liters/cm mol. The stoichiometry of the reaction takes place in the metal-to-ligand ratio 1:2. The interferences produced by the more common ions are studied. The method has been successfully applied to the determination of bismuth in pharmaceutical formulations.     

Titanosilicates as Supports for an Enzymatic Alcoholysis Reaction

Novel [Cr^III(amp)(bipy)(Cl)] (1) (H₂amp = N-(hydroxyphenyl)salicyldimine; bipy = 2,2-bipyridyl) and [Cr^III(app)(bipy)(Cl)]⁺ (2) (H₂app = N-(hydroxyphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxaldimine; bipy = 2,2-bipyridyl) complexes have been synthesized and characterized by physico-chemical methods. Complexes 1 and 2 have been employed as catalysts in the oxidation of both saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons using tert-butylhydroperoxide (t-BuOOH). The significance of the results with respect to oxo-functionalization of C-H bonds both in unsaturated and saturated hydrocarbons is noted.     

STUDIES ON CHARGE TRANSFER POLYMERIZATION——POLYMERIZATION OF ACRYLONITRILE INITIATED WITH PHENYL HYDRAZINE AND ITS DERIVATIVES

The photopolymerization of acrylonitrile (AN) initiated with phenyl hydrazine (PHZ) and its derivatives has been studied. The initiator exponent and monomer exponent were determined from the kinetic investigation to be 0.66th and 2.1th respectively and the overall activation energy was 33.4KJ/mol for the PHZ-AN system. Spectral analysis and other data indicate that a charge transfer complex between PHZ as a donor and AN as an aceeptor is formed. The initiation mechanism was proposed.     

A kinetic approach to homogeneous Ziegler type polymerization. Steady state

In this paper we present a kinetic approach to the analysis of steady-state homogeneous Ziegler-Natta polymerization activity data. The influence of the number of monomeric species that are coordinated to the active site on the apparent rate law is discussed and the equations are fitted to the experimental results.     

1,4-dioxane as a solvent in spectroscopy and photochemistry

Commercially available 1,4-dioxane, even of spectroscopic grade, contains various impurities that arise mostly from reaction of the solvent with oxygen. Aspects relevant to the spectroscopy and photochemistry of the dioxane/oxygen system are discussed. Methods of purification and storage of the solvent are presented.     

Concentration effects in gel permeation chromatography : IV. Contribution of viscosity phenomena and macromolecular expansion

The changes in elution volumes with the changes in the concentration of an injected polymer solution are caused by several contributing effects. Under model conditions, it is possible to assume only the effect of a viscosity gradient in a zone moving along the column and the effect of the concentration dependence of the hydrodynamic volume of a macromolecular coil. The non-Gaussian shape of the zone and the dependence of the width of the elution curve on concentration are factors that complicate the theoretical treatment of concentration effects. The described physico-chemical model allows to evaluate the ratio of mentioned two contributions in the concentration dependence of elution volumes. According to this model, the contribution of the concentration dependence of the hydrodynamic volume does not exceed about 20% of the total change in elution volume with the varying concentration under real experimental conditions. The efficiency of the columns used and the total injected volume of the polymer solution affect this ratio only negligibly. It is obvious from a comparison with earlier results that these conclusions are not fundamentally changed even by the revised model of the concentration dependence of the swelling factor.
