A simulation methodology for the synthesis of polycrystalline, ionic thin films is developed. The method involves the preparation of a polycrystalline substrate onto which a thin film is subsequently grown by crystallization from the melt. A detailed structural analysis of a textured sixteen-grain FeO film, with a grain size of approximately 4.7 nm, shows that the interiors of the grains are almost perfect single crystals with only a very few vacancies and no interstitials. The grains are delineated by 001 tilt grain boundaries; as expected, the low-angle grain boundaries in the film consist of arrays of dislocations, while the high-angle grain boundaries are relatively narrow and well ordered.  相似文献

Classical molecular dynamics simulations are used to examine the growth of SrO and TiO2 thin films on SrTiO3 (STO). In particular, the simulations consider the deposition of SrO and TiO2 molecules at incident energies of 0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 eV/atom onto the (0 0 1) surface of STO. The role of surface termination layer (SrO vs. TiO2) is analyzed. In the case of SrO deposition, smooth, ordered films are produced for all incident energies considered and for both surface terminations. By contrast, in the case of TiO2 deposition, three-dimensional islands are formed under all conditions. These predictions are in good agreement with experimental data. Importantly, the simulations explain why these differing morphologies are produced for SrO and TiO2 deposition.  相似文献

In this paper, we report our measurements of back-angle oxygen and carbon particle yields from 16O+89Y, 12C+93Nb reactions forming the same compound nucleus 105Ag at the same excitation energy and spin distribution. We find anomalously large oxygen yield and entrance channel dependence at high excitation energies from 16O+89Y reaction implying formation of a dinuclear orbiting complex. Possible connection between nuclear orbiting and fast fission is also discussed.  相似文献

Recent investigations of grain growth in nanocrystalline materials have revealed a new growth mechanism: grain-rotation-induced grain coalescence. Based on a simple model employing a stochastic theory and using computer simulations, here we investigate the coarsening of a polycrystalline microstructure due solely to the grain-rotation coalescence mechanism. Our study demonstrates that this mechanism exhibits power-law growth with a universal scaling exponent. The value of this universal growth exponent is shown to depend on the assumed mechanism by which the grain rotations are accommodated.  相似文献
