By using ab initio molecular dynamics calculations, we show that even where the graphene lattice constant contracts, as previously reported for freestanding graphene below room temperature, the average carbon-carbon distance increases with temperature, in both free and supported graphene. This results in a larger corrugation at higher temperature, which can affect the interaction between graphene and the supporting substrate. For a weakly interacting system as graphene/Ir(111), we confirm the results using an experimental approach which gives direct access to interatomic distances. 相似文献

We study experimentally and numerically the second-harmonic ?erenkov emission with two different characteristic azimuthal intensity distributions in strontium barium niobate with a random structure of χ2 nonlinearity. Tunable narrowband extreme ultraviolet radiation in the range 91–95 nm is produced by sum-frequency mixing of the outputs of a visible pulsed dye amplifier (seeded by a ring dye laser) and of a seeded second-harmonic Nd:YAG laser and subsequent frequency tripling in a gas jet of xenon. The capability of this scheme to provide tunable narrowband extreme ultraviolet radiation is demonstrated in several spectroscopic studies. The bandwidth of this system (0.01 cm-1) is deduced from a recording of absorption spectra of the 4p5(2P1/2)6d, J=1 line in krypton. The applicability of the system for gas-phase molecular spectroscopic studies is demonstrated in recordings of the Werner bands (4,0) in H2 and (5,0) in D2 at unprecedented absolute accuracy. Line-broadening studies are performed on the b1u+,v=5 valence state in N2, yielding a lifetime of 210±25 ps. A singlet–triplet perturbation, giving rise to an accidental predissociation in an excited 1 Rydberg state in carbon monoxide at an excitation energy of 107680 cm-1, is analyzed in high resolution. The aim of this study was to establish whether enhancement of the liver by the MRI contrast agent ferumoxides could be effectively achieved at a reduced dose of 7.5 micromol/kg in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis. Forty-two liver transplant candidates with end-stage cirrhosis underwent SPIO-enhanced MRI at 1.5T, using either 15 micromol/kg or 7.5 micromol/kg ferumoxides. The lower dose of ferumoxides was also used in 21 non-cirrhotic patients with colorectal liver metastases who acted as a control group. The percentage signal intensity loss (PSIL) after SPIO was measured in all patients, and in those patients with tumors the post-SPIO contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) was measured. The median PSIL after SPIO in the high dose cirrhotic (HDLC), low dose non-cirrhotic (LDNC) and low dose cirrhotic (LDLC) patients was 86.3%, 74.6%, and 64.2% respectively. These differences were significant using the Mann-Whitney U test. Tumors were found in 8 patients in the high dose cirrhotic group, 9 in the low dose cirrhotic group, and all 21 of the control group. No significant differences were found between the CNR values after SPIO in the 3 groups (median values HDLC 15.1, LDNC 23.7, LDLC 19.5). In patients with late-stage cirrhosis the PSIL after SPIO was significantly less at 7.5 micromol/kg than at 15 micromol/kg, but both doses produced a substantial loss of signal. Lesion to liver CNR was not adversely affected by using the lower dose, so when imaging at 1.5T the authors would recommend using 7.5 micromol/kg in patients with liver cirrhosis. 相似文献

Achieving phase only modulation from a spatial light modulator (SLM) is useful for many optical processing tasks. In this paper, we demonstrate a simple method of decoupling phase and amplitude modulation in a twisted nematic liquid crystal (TNLC) SLM using a double pass technique. We investigate electronic transport in lithographically patterned graphene ribbon structures where the lateral confinement of charge carriers creates an energy gap near the charge neutrality point. Individual graphene layers are contacted with metal electrodes and patterned into ribbons of varying widths and different crystallographic orientations. The temperature dependent conductance measurements show larger energy gaps opening for narrower ribbons. The sizes of these energy gaps are investigated by measuring the conductance in the nonlinear response regime at low temperatures. We find that the energy gap scales inversely with the ribbon width, thus demonstrating the ability to engineer the band gap of graphene nanostructures by lithographic processes. 相似文献

IR, Raman and surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of 3,5‐dinitrosalicylic acid (DNSA) were recorded and analysed. The vibrational wavenumbers were computed by the ab initio method using RHF/6–21G* basis and they were found to be in good agreement with the experimental values. The effect of the concentration dependence on the SERS intensity of the molecule was studied. The molecular plane assumes a tilted orientation with respect to the silver surface. Rotor-assisted population transfer (RAPT) was developed as a method for enhancing MAS NMR sensitivity of quadrupolar nuclei by transferring polarization associated with satellite transitions to the central m=12-->-12 transition. After a single RAPT transfer, there still remains polarization in the satellite transitions that can be transferred to the central transition. This polarization is available without having to wait for the spin system to return to thermal equilibrium. We describe a new RAPT scheme that uses the remaining polarization of the satellites to obtain a further enhancement of the central transition by performing RAPT-enhanced experiments multiple times before waiting for re-equilibration of the spin system. For 27Al (I=5/2) in albite we obtain a multiple RAPT enhancement of 3.02, a 48% increase over single RAPT. For 93Nb (I=9/2) in NaNbO(3) we obtain a multiple RAPT enhancement of 5.76, an 89% increase over single RAPT.
