Trace amounts of antimony(III) may be determined in 6M hydrobromic acid by measurement of the red fluorescence of its bromide complex at -196 degrees , the optimum wavelengths of excitation and emission (360 and 586 nm respectively) being used. Calibration graphs are linear between 0.01 and 0.25 ppm. The effect of the presence of 50-fold molar amounts of 55 foreign ions has been studied. Of the ions studied, only iron(III) and tellurium(IV) interfere, and these may be tolerated at the 50- and 20-fold levels respectively. We present the general method of constructing curved traversable wormholes in (3+1)-d spacetime and proceed to thoroughly discuss the physics of a zero tidal force metric without cross-terms. The (3+1)-d solution is compared with the recently studied lower-dimensional counterpart, where we identify that the much richer physics—involving pressures and shear forces of the mass-energy fluid supporting the former—is attributed to the mixing of all three spatial coordinates. Our (3+1)-d universe is the lowest dimension where such nontrivial terms appear. An explicit example, the static zero tidal force (3+1)-d catenary wormhole is analysed and we show the existence of a geodesic through it supported locally by non-exotic matter, similar to the (2+1)-d version. A key difference is that positive mass-energy is used to support the entire (3+1)-d catenary wormhole, though violation of the null energy condition in certain regions is inevitable. This general approach of first constructing the geometry of the spacetime and then using the field equations to determine the physics to support it has the potential to discover new solutions in general relativity or to generalise existing ones. A search for Z bosons in the μ(+)μ(-) decay channel has been performed in PbPb collisions at √S(NN)=2.76 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC, in a 7.2 μb(-1) data sample. The number of opposite-sign muon pairs observed in the 60-120 GeV/c(2) invariant mass range is 39, corresponding to a yield per unit of rapidity (y) and per minimum bias event of [33.8±5.5(stat)±4.4(syst)]×10(-8), in the |y|<2.0 range. Rapidity, transverse momentum, and centrality dependencies are also measured. The results of the first search for long-lived gluinos produced in 7 TeV pp collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider are presented. The search looks for evidence of long-lived particles that stop in the CMS detector and decay in the quiescent periods between beam crossings. In a dataset with a peak instantaneous luminosity of 1×10(32) cm-2 s-1, an integrated luminosity of 10 pb-1, and a search interval corresponding to 62 hours of LHC operation, no significant excess above background was observed. Limits at the 95% confidence level on gluino pair production over 13 orders of magnitude of gluino lifetime are set. For a mass difference mg - mχ1(0) >100 GeV/c2, and assuming BR(g→gχ1(0))=100%, mg < 370 GeV/c2 are excluded for lifetimes from 10 μs to 1000 s. 相似文献

Electroweak production of the top quark is measured for the first time in pp collisions at √=7 TeV, using a data set collected with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb?1. With an event selection optimized for t-channel production, two complementary analyses are performed. The first one exploits the special angular properties of the signal, together with background estimates from the data. The second approach uses a multivariate analysis technique to probe the compatibility with signal topology expected from electroweak top-quark production. The combined measurement of the cross section is 83.6±29.8(stat+syst)±3.3(lumi) pb, consistent with the standard model expectation. 相似文献

A search for three-jet hadronic resonance production in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV has been conducted by the CMS Collaboration at the LHC, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb(-1). Events with high jet multiplicity and a large scalar sum of jet transverse momenta are analyzed using a signature-based approach. The number of expected standard model background events is found to be in good agreement with the observed events. Limits on the cross section times branching ratio are set in a model of gluino pair production with an R-parity-violating decay to three quarks, and the data rule out such particles within the mass range of 200 to 280 GeV/c2. 相似文献

A search for events with jets and missing transverse energy is performed in a data sample of pp collisions collected at √s=7 TeV by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The analyzed data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.14 fb(-1). In this search, a kinematic variable α(T) is used as the main discriminator between events with genuine and misreconstructed missing transverse energy. No excess of events over the standard model expectation is found. Exclusion limits in the parameter space of the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model are set. In this model, squark masses below 1.1 TeV are excluded at 95% C.L. Gluino masses below 1.1 TeV are also ruled out at 95% C.L. for values of the universal scalar mass parameter below 500 GeV. 相似文献

基于密度泛函理论和赝势平面波方法研究了立方钙钛矿RbZnF3的电子结构和光学性质;利用静水有限应变技术计算研究了RbZnF3弹性常数Cij、体积弹性模量B和剪切模量G随压力的变化关系。基态下,RbZnF3晶格常数a和体积弹性模量B0计算值与实验值以及其他理论值一致。根据能带结构、总态密度以及分波态密度分析可知:基态下立方钙钛矿结构RbZnF3为间接带隙半导体材料,带隙为3.57eV,与其他计算结果比较,本文计算结果偏低,这是由于局域密度近似(LAD)或广义梯度近似(GGA)交换关联函数的局限性所致。基态下RbZnF3的Mulliken电荷分布和集居数说明:RbZnF3属于共价键和离子键所形成的混合键化合物;RbZnF3的电荷总数主要来源于Rb 4s和4p轨道,Zn 3d轨道,以及F 2s和2p轨道。电荷主要从Rb, Zn原子向F原子转移。同时,本文还计算研究了RbZnF3的光学介电函数、吸收系数、复折射率、能量损失谱和反射系数等光学性质。 相似文献
