Signature of non-Fickian solute transport in complex heterogeneous porous media

We simulate transport of a solute through three-dimensional images of different rock samples, with resolutions of a few microns, representing geological media of increasing pore-scale complexity: a sandpack, a Berea sandstone, and a Portland limestone. We predict the propagators (concentration as a function of distance) measured on similar cores in nuclear magnetic resonance experiments and the dispersion coefficient as a function of Péclet number and time. The behavior is explained using continuous time random walks with a truncated power-law distribution of travel times: transport is qualitatively different for the complex limestone compared to the sandstone or sandpack, with long tailing, an almost immobile peak concentration, and a very slow approach to asymptotic dispersion.     

One-pot synthesis of 1,2,3-triazole linked dihydropyrimidinones via Huisgen 1,3-dipolar/Biginelli cycloaddition

The combination of the Biginelli reaction with click chemistry has been used for the one-pot synthesis of 1,2,3-triazole linked dihydropyrimidinones from azides, aromatic aldehydes containing a propargyl ether group, urea, and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds using Cu(OAc)₂/sodium ascorbate as catalyst in acetic acid under mild reaction conditions.     

FIXED POINT RESULTS ON METRIC-TYPE SPACES

In this paper we obtain fixed point and common fixed point theorems for self- mappings defined on a metric-type space, an ordered metric-type space or a normal cone metric space. Moreover, some examples and an application to integral equations are given to illustrate the usability of the obtained results.     

Rapid and Efficient Synthesis of Imidazolines and Bisimidazolines Under Microwave and Ultrasonic Irradiation

Small assemblies of 2-imidazolines and bisimidazolines from appropriate nitriles and ethylenediamine with catalytic amounts of P₂S₅ employing a microwave assisted protocol were prepared. Sonication of this system also led to successful synthesis of 2-imidazolines and bisimidazolines. Another advantage of these systems is the ability to carry out large scale reactions.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Acidity Constants of 4‐(2‐Pyridylazo) Resorcinol in Various Micellar Media Solutions

Dissociation equilibria of 4‐(2‐pyridylazo) resorcinol (PAR) in aqueous micellar solutions were determined spectrophotometrically at 25 °C and at the constant ionic strength I = 0.1 M KNO₃. For this purpose, the effect of nonionic (Brij‐35, Triton X‐100, Triton X‐114, Triton X‐405), and anionic (SDS) surfactants on the absorption spectra of PAR at different pH values was studied. Results show that the pK_a values and pure spectra of each species of PAR are influenced by percentages of a neutral and an anionic surfactant such as Brij‐35, Triton X‐100, Triton X‐114, Triton X‐405 and SDS, respectively, added to the solution of this reagent.     

Determination of acidic drugs in biological and environmental matrices by membrane‐based dual emulsification liquid‐phase microextraction followed by high‐performance liquid chromatography

A simple method is introduced providing a highly clean microextraction for the determination of some anti‐inflammatory drugs as the model analytes in human urine and environmental matrices. This method is based upon the implementation of two consecutive emulsification liquid‐phase microextractions, which are separated by a syringe filtration step. In this method, the organic extraction solvent (dihexyl ether) is dispersed into the aqueous sample solution (20 mL), and the resulting cloudy mixture is passed through a hydrophilic polytetrafluoroethylene syringe filter. By this action, the extraction phase containing the analytes and many interfering species that could be transferred into the organic phase is retained behind the hydrophilic membrane. The filter is then detached from the syringe and attached to another syringe containing an aqueous solution (pH 12.0, 150 μL), and by the in‐syringe dispersion of the organic phase into the aqueous phase, the analytes are selectively back‐extracted into the aqueous phase. The developed method is centrifuge‐free and very simple, and provides a high sample clean‐up in a few minutes. Under the optimized experimental conditions, the developed method provided a linearity in the range of 2.0–2000 ng/mL, a low limit of detection (0.5 ng/mL), and enrichment factors of 47–53.     

Iodine‐Catalyzed Friedlander Quinoline Synthesis under Solvent‐Free Conditions

Polyfunctional quinolines were synthesized using Friedlander method catalyzed by molecular iodine in high yields at 60 °C under solvent‐free conditions.     

A minimal model for two-component FIMP dark matter:A basic search

In the multi-component configurations of dark matter phenomenology,we propose a minimal twocomponent configuration which is an extension of the Standard Model with only three new fields;one scalar and one fermion interact with the thermal soup through Higgs portal,mediated by the other scalar in such a way that the stabilities of dark matter candidates are made simultaneously by an explicit Z2 symmetry.Against the most common freeze-out framework,we look for dark matter particle signatures in the freeze-in scenario by evaluating the relic density and detection signals.A simple distinguishing feature of the model is the lack of dark matter conversion,so the dark matter components act individually and the model can be adapted entirely to both singlet scalar and singlet fermionic models,separately.We find dark matter self-interaction as the most promising approach to probe such feeble models.Although the scalar component satisfies this constraint,the fermionic one refuses it even in the resonant region.     

Efficient synthesis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical acyclic imides catalyzed by reusable 12-tungstophosphoric acid under thermal conditions and microwave irradiation

An efficient and environmentally friendly procedure has been developed for the synthesis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical acyclic imides by the reaction of nitriles with acyclic anhydrides in the presence of catalytic amounts of 12-tungstophosphoric acid (H₃PW₁₂O₄₀) under thermal conditions and microwave irradiation. It was found that microwave improves the yields and significantly reduces the reaction times. Furthermore, the catalyst could be recovered and reused several times without decrease in its activity.
