Quantitative accuracy is of great importance in the analysis of bulk mixtures of solvents, particularly when the analysis is related to quality control of very large product volumes like in solvent recovery plants. Serious errors can be made if the effects of density differences between the pure solvents and volume contractions are not properly addressed. In earlier work, the use of an iterative process for correcting such errors has been suggested. However, in the case of volume contractions and mixtures of several solvents, this procedure is difficult to apply. In the present paper, we describe a simple procedure where calibration curves based on mass concentration are utilized. The densities of calibration mixtures of known compositions are determined with a density meter, in order to provide for correction factors caused by volume contractions. Model experiments with mixtures of water, ethanol, acetone and methanol showed a significant improvement in quantitative accuracy. when the suggested calibration strategy was applied. 相似文献

A method for the extraction, transfer and desorption of anions and cations under controlled potential conditions employing a new integrated three-electrode device is described. The device, containing working, reference and counter electrodes, was prepared from tubes that could be moved vertically with respect to each other. In this way, a small amount of solvent, held by capillary force, remained between the electrodes when the device was lifted out of a solution after an extraction. This design allowed the potential control to be maintained at all times. With the new integrated device, it was possible to perform potential controlled desorption into vials containing as little as 200 microl of solution. The required ion exchange capacity was obtained by electrodeposition of a polypyrrole coating on the surface of the glassy carbon working electrode. Solid-phase microextractions of several cations or anions were performed simultaneously under potentiostatic control by doping the polypyrrole coating with different anions such as perchlorate and p-toluenesulfonate. The efficiency of the extractions, which could be altered by varying the potential of the working electrode, could be increased by 150 to 200% compared to extractions using normal solid-phase microextraction conditions under open circuit conditions. A constant potential of +1.0 V and -0.5 V with respect to the silver pseudo reference electrode, was found to be well-suited for the extraction of samples containing ppm concentrations of anions (chloride, nitrite, bromide, nitrate, sulfate and phosphate) and cations (cadmium, cobalt and zinc), respectively. 相似文献

The calculated result obtained with MM2(87) for the rotation of the isopropyl group in 3-methyl-1-butene is not in agreement with experimental data. In order to reparametrize the Csp2-Csp3-Csp-Csp3 torsional angle, 3-methyl-1-butene and 1-butene have been studied by molecular mechanics (MM2(87)) and ab initio (MP2/6-31G* and MP3/6-31G*) calculations. The reparametrization of the torsional angle gives calculated results from MM2(87) in agreement with experimental data and ab initio calculations for both 3-methyl-1-butene and 1-butene. The frequencies and intensities of vibration–rotational transitions of water molecules in an argon matrix were calculated for temperatures of 6 and 30 K. The rigid asymmetric top approximation was used with available literature values of the effective rotational constants in the ground and excited vibrational states. The calculations were carried out by taking into account the existence of a non-equilibrium population distribution between the rotational levels of ortho- and para-water isomers. It was assumed that the temperature relaxation of the population of rotational levels is independent of the ortho- and para-isomers. Comparison of the results of the theoretical calculations with experimental literature data shows good agreement for the majority of the rotational structure lines for symmetric and antisymmetric stretching vibrations both in the frequency values and in the values of the relative intensities. 相似文献

A dynamic programming approach is here used to obtain the total number of perfect matchings in the 7-cube, which is 391 689 748 492 473 664 721 077 609 089. The number of equivalence classes of perfect matchings is further shown to be 336 in the 5-cube, 356 788 059 in the 6-cube and 607 158 046 495 120 886 820 621 in the 7-cube. Several commonly used molecular mechanics force fields have been tested for accuracy in conformational energy calculations. Differences in performance between the force fields are discussed for different classes of structures. MMFF93 and force fields based on the MM2 or MM3 functional form are found to perform significantly better than other force fields in the test, with average conformational energy errors around 0.5 kcal/mol. CFF91 also reaches this accuracy for the subset in which fully determined parameters are used, but it doubles the overall error due to use of estimated parameters. In the literature one basic work can be found that describes an attempt to verify the applicability of the orthotropic plate wave theory to paper. In the present study we have repeated the key experiment and also modified the original experimental set-up to be able to make new complementary measurements. The performed verification attempt is based on a key experiment in which an ultrasonic resonance method is used. When it is applied to paper, a second resonance can be observed in addition to the one that originates from the asymmetric A0 mode. The result of the verification experiment is conclusive only if the source of this second resonance is the symmetric S0 mode. Our results show that the second resonance is not generated by the S0 mode. Instead, they indicate that the source is a longitudinal wave propagating in the thickness direction of the paper. We therefore conclude that the applicability of the orthotropic plate wave theory to paper cannot be verified by performing the key experiment that is described in the literature. 相似文献
