The class \({\mathcal{CR}}\) of completely regular semigroups equipped with the unary operation of inversion forms a variety whose lattice of subvarieties is denoted by \({\mathcal{L(CR)}}\). The variety \({\mathcal B}\) of all bands induces two relations \({\mathbf{B}^{\land}}\) and \({\mathbf{B}^{\lor} }\) by meet and join with \({\mathcal B}\). Their classes are intervals with lower ends \({\mathcal V_{B^{\land}}}\) and \({\mathcal V_{B^{\lor}}}\), and upper ends \({\mathcal V^{B^{\land}}}\) and \({\mathcal V^{B^{\lor}}}\). Hedrlin and Pultr proved that every small category is isomorphic to a full subcategory of the category Alg (Δ) of all algebras of type Δ whenever the sum ∑Δ of their arities satisfies ∑Δ>2. This article deals with simultaneous representation in categories of algebras, a generalization of the related question: given a subcategory k′ of a small category k, when does there exist an extension Δ′ of a type Δ with ∑Δ?2 such that k′ is a full subcategory of Alg(Δ′) while the Alg (Δ)-redacts of algebras representing k′ determine a category isomorphic to k? We characterize simultaneous representability by algebras and their reducts completely, and show that it is closely related to Isbell's dominion. A consequence of the main result states that algebraically representable pairs (k′, k) of one-object categories k′ k are exactly those for which k′ coincides with its dominion in k, and provides an alternative characterization of the dominion. The continuous surveillance of glucose concentration reduces short-term risks and long-term complications for people with diabetes mellitus, a disorder of glucose metabolism. As a first step towards the continuous monitoring of glucose, reagent-free transmission spectroscopy in the mid-infrared region has been carried out in vitro using a quantum cascade laser and an optical silver halide fiber. A 30 μm gap in the fiber allowed for transmission spectroscopy of aqueous glucose solutions at a wavelength of 9.69 μm, which is specific to a molecular vibration of glucose. A noise-equivalent concentration as low as 4 mg/dL was achieved at an average power of 1.8 mW and an integration time of 50 s. This is among the most precise of glucose measurements using mid-infrared spectroscopy. Even with the very low average laser power of 0.07 mW the sensitivity of previous results (using a fiber optical evanescent field analysis) has been improved upon by almost one order of magnitude. Hydroxy and methoxy perylene quinones are synthesized in an attempt to isolate the essential spectroscopic and biological features of light-induced antiviral agents such as hypericin and hypocrellin. Unlike their naturally occurring counterparts, these synthetic quinones bear the carbonyl, hydroxyl, and methoxy groups in the \"bay region.\" The hydroxy and methoxy compounds have rich absorption spectra with broad features in the visible (approximately 450-800 nm) and relatively more intense and narrow features at wavelengths < or = 350 nm. High-level ab initio quantum mechanical calculations assign the features in the absorption spectra to electronic transitions from S0 to S2 and to higher-lying electronic states. The calculations indicate that in the ground state the trans dihydroxy isomer is 12.5 kcal/mol lower in energy than the cis dihydroxy isomer and is thus the only species present. The lowest-energy trans methoxy ground state isomer and the lowest-energy cis methoxy ground state isomer are found to be degenerate. An additional cis methoxy isomer 6.3 kcal/mol higher in energy than the global minimum is assumed to contribute to the spectrum and is also considered. Finally, the synthetic compounds exhibit similar light-induced antiviral activity to each other, but significantly less than that of hypericin. 相似文献

Using time-resolved infrared spectroscopy, ab initio quantum mechanical calculations and synthetic organic chemistry a region in the infrared spectrum of triplet hypericin has been found between 1400 and 1500 cm-1 corresponding to the translocation of the hydrogen atom between the enol and the keto oxygens, O...H...O. Lipofuscin is a yellow-brown, highly fluorescent pigment that undergoes an age-related progressive accumulation in animal cells, mainly in postmitotic cells. It is a heterogeneous, high-molecular weight material associated with proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. Lipofuscin is implicated in many aspects of human health, including aging, oxidative stress, macular degeneration, lipid peroxidation, atherosclerosis, dementia (Alzheimer's Disease) and diseases associated with prions. Although the fluorescent properties of lipofuscin have long been recognized, neither histologists nor chemists have yet isolated the pigments themselves or characterized their optical properties. We have prepared lipofuscinlike species by reacting malondialdehyde (MDA) with cysteine (Cys). MDA:Cys adducts 3:2 and 2:2 are two of those that have been identified among the many that were present in the reaction. Whereas previous attempts to synthesize lipofuscinlike species resulted in compounds that were either nonfluorescent or emitted principally in the blue, the MDA:Cys adducts reported in this study are not only fluorescent but also emit over a broader range. 相似文献

The cyclohydrocarbonylation is readily accomplished using substrates containing alkyl, aryl, vinyl, and alkoxy groups at the acetylenic terminal, as well as a variety of primary, secondary, and tertiary alkyl, aryl, and heteroaryl groups connected to the ketone functionality. Let 𝒞? denotes the variety of completely regular semigroups considered with the unary operation of inversion. The global study of the lattice of subvarieties of 𝒞? depends heavily on various decompositions. Some of the most fruitful among these are induced by the kernel and the trace relations. In their turn, these relations are induced by the kernel and the trace relations on the lattice of congruences on regular semigroups. These latter admit the concepts of kernel and trace of a congruence. The kernel and the trace relations for congruences were transferred to kernel and trace relations on varieties but the kernel and trace got no analogue for varieties.We supply here the kernel and the trace of a variety which induce the relations of their namesake. For the local and core relations, we also define the local and core of a variety. All the new concepts are certain subclasses of 𝒞?. In this way, we achieve considerable similarity of the new concepts with those for congruences. We also correct errors in two published papers. 相似文献
