The averaged velocity of a test particle and the averaged velocity of a plasma in an electro-magnetic wave packet with varying frequency (e.g., a radiation pulse from pulsar) is derived. The total momentum left by the wave packet in regions of plasma inhomogeneity is found. If the plasma concentration is changing due to ionization, the plasma may be accelerated parallelly or antiparallelly to the direction of the wave packet propagation, which is relevant for a laser induced breakdown in gas.The author thanks R.Klíma for numerous discussions. 相似文献

We consider the interaction of a polarized electromagnetic wave in a magnetically ordered crystal plate surrounded by an isotropic ambient at the normal incidence. The crystalline medium of the plate is specified by the general non-symmetric permittivity tensor. The results are expressed in terms of the transmission and reflection matrices which relate the electric fields of the incident wave to those of transmitted and reflected waves. Their applications are illustrated by examples of an isotropic plate magnetized normal to the interface, a cubic crystal magnetized parallel to the interface and an orthorhombic crystal magnetized along the axis normal to the interface. The effect of the reflection from the interfaces and the interference effect are included. The paper treats the reflection at an interface between an isotropic ambient and an absorbing magnetic crystal at small non-zero angles of incidence. The general reflection matrix is applied to the determination of the magneto-optical effects quadratic in magnetization. 相似文献

We have studied ultra-fast carrier dynamics of photo-excited carriers in hydrogenated microcrystalline silicon prepared by
a very high frequency glow-discharge technique. We report on direct observation of two types of dynamics using selective photo-excitation
in picosecond pump and probe measurements. One type of the observed dynamics has been found to be independent of the sample
preparation, while the other reflects the relative weights of crystalline and amorphous fractions. We propose a simple rate-equation
model that describes the carrier dynamics in microcrystalline silicon in terms of the composition of those in Si microcrystallites
and in the a-Si:H tissue which surrounds the microcrystallites. The model without any fitting parameters reproduces the experimental
data very well when the dynamics are scaled with relative volume fractions as obtained from Raman spectra.

The purpose of this study is to estimate, for planned experiments at the H-1NF heliac, nonlinear variations of the stationary radial electric field, and poloidal and toroidal plasma rotation, that result from ponderomotive forces exerted by large amplitude RF waves in the H-1NF. Similarly as in the previous studies of nonlinear transport effects induced by RF waves, the nonlinear ponderomotive force effects on the radial electric field, toroidal and poloidal plasma rotation become important for dissipated powers of the order of 1 MWm–3 for RF waves with frequency of about 10 MHz. At these high RF powers, the nonlinear ponderomotive force effects might therefore result in important changes in plasma confinement and RF wave coupling in H-1NF.This work has been partially supported by the Australian National University, by the DIST Department of the Australian Government, by the Czech Grant Agency grants No. 202/96/1355 and 1350, and by the Queen Elisabeth II grant administered by G.G.
