Measurement and analysis of the π+π+ system produced at small momentum transfer in the reaction π+p→π+π+n at 12.5 GeV

From a wire chamber experiment 45 452 events were obtained from the reaction π⁺p→π⁺π⁺n. The I=2 phase shifts were determined in the π⁺π⁺ mass region 0.3–1.5 GeV. An amplitude analysis was performed. The results are compared with some theoretical predictions.

A discrete analogue of a theorem of Katznelson

In this paper we sharpen an earlier result of the author’s concerning entropy of automorphism on discrete groups. We show that the entropy of an automorphism ofZ ^m can be approximated arbitrarily well on a subset on which some power of α acts as a discrete shift.     

Synthesis and structure of 2,4-dibromo-3,7-dicyanosemibullvalene. A substitution pattern retarding the cope rearrangement

The crystal and molecular structure of 2,4-dibromo-3,7-dicyanosemibulvalene(3b) synthesized from the bicyclo [3.3.0]octanedione 4 was determined by X-ray analysis; 3b exhibits a higher activation barrier towards degenerate Cope rearrangement than the parent semibullvalene.     

D2-m-carborane siloxanes. V. Structure–property relationships

D₂-m-decacarborane dimethylsiloxane has unusual thermal stability and resistance towards reversion, however, this material exhibits a crystalline phase, T_m at 68°C. To obtain an elastomeric material, this crystallinity is disrupted by replacing 30 to 50% of the m-carborane with p-carborane moieties or by the incorporation of phenyl moieties on the polymer backbone. The latter approach is preferred since improved thermo-oxidative stability accompanies this modification. Correlation of the glass transition temperature and thermo-oxidative stability with the polymer structure are presented.     

Time-resolved photoacoustic spectroscopy in the picosecond regime

Photoacoustic detection has been applied, for the first time, to detect and study excited molecules and reactive intermediates on the picosecond timescale. Dilute and weakly-absorbing transients are readily observed under conditions which render them inaccessible to conventional methods.
