An excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) from the phenol OH to the 7'-carbon on the naphthyl ring in o-(1-naphthyl)phenol (3) and 1-(1'-naphthyl)-2-naphthol (4) leads to efficient (Phi = 0.1-0.2) formation of the corresponding dihydrobenzoxanthenes (5 and 7) via quinone methide intermediates. This new reaction represents a clean, efficient, and high-yielding route to benzoxanthenes and dihydrobenzoxanthenes. A related ESIPT of similar efficiency has been detected at the 2'-aromatic position in these systems, by deuterium labeling studies.  相似文献

Cr(III) complexes of tridentate SNS ligands have been prepared and evaluated as catalysts for ethylene trimerization, with several giving very high activity and excellent selectivity toward 1-hexene when activated with methylaluminoxane. Fractionation of a steam distilled residue of Commiphora confusa resin has yielded four novel dammarane triterpenes characterised as (20S)-3beta-acetoxy-12beta,16beta-trihydroxydammar-24-ene, (20S)-12beta,16beta-trihydroxydammar-24-ene-3beta-O-beta-glucopyranoside, (20S)-3beta-acetoxy-12beta,16beta,25-tetrahydroxydammar-23-ene, and (20S)-3beta,12beta,16beta,25-pentahydroxydammar-23-ene. The known compounds beta-amyrin, 3beta-amyrinacetate, 2-methoxyfuranodienone, 2-acetoxyfuranodienone, (20R)-3beta-acetoxy-16beta-dihydroxydammar-24-ene, (20R)-3beta,16beta-trihydroxydammar-24-ene, 3beta-acetoxy-16beta-hydroxydammar-24-ene, 3beta-hydroxydammar-24-ene, 3beta-acetoxydammar-24-ene, and beta-sistosterol were also isolated from the same extract. The structures of the compounds were determined using spectroscopic, physical, and chemical methods.  相似文献

Asphaltenes from four crude oils were fractionated by precipitation in mixtures of heptane and toluene. Solubility profiles generated in the presence of resins (1:1 mass ratio) indicated the onset of asphaltene precipitation occurred at lower toluene volume fractions (0.1–0.2) than without resins. Small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) was performed on solutions of asphaltene fractions in mixtures of heptane and toluene with added resins to determine aggregate sizes. Water-in-oil emulsions of asphaltene–resin solutions were prepared and separated by a centrifuge method to determine the vol.% water resolved. In general, the addition of resins to asphaltenes reduced the aggregate size by disrupting the π–π and polar bonding interactions between asphaltene monomers. Interaction of resins with asphaltenic aggregates rendered the aggregates less interfacially active and thus reduced emulsion stability. The smallest aggregate sizes observed and the weakest emulsion stability at high resin to asphaltene (R/A) ratios presumably corresponded to asphaltenic monomers or small oligomers strongly interacting with resin molecules. It was often observed that, in the absence of resins, the more polar or higher molecular weight asphaltenes were insoluble in solutions of heptane and toluene. The addition of resins dissolved these insolubles and aggregate size by SANS increased until the solubility limit was reached. This corresponded approximately to the point of maximum emulsion stability. Asphaltene chemistry plays a vital role in dictating emulsion stability. The most polar species typically required significantly higher resin concentrations to disrupt asphaltene interactions and completely destabilize emulsions. Aggregation and film formation are likely driven by polar heteroatom interactions, such as hydrogen bonding, which allow asphaltenes to absorb, consolidate, and form cohesive films at the oil–water interface.  相似文献

A review is presented detailing the development and use of suppression devices for the conductimetric detection of inorganic ions by ion chromatography (IC). An overview of the general response equation for conductivity detection is also given. Topics of discussion include the role and function of suppressors, the development of early suppressors including packed column and membrane devices from 1975 to 1990 and the subsequent progression towards present day commercially available suppressors and recent innovations. This research aimed to reduce the variability on the data obtained from differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) analysis of the isothermal crystallization kinetics of cocoa butter.

To enable transformation of the DSC crystallization peak to a sigmoid crystallization curve, the DSC peak area has to be integrated. Usually, the start and end points of the crystallization peak are determined visually. The result of this visual determination appeared to be very much dependent on the operator, but also differed considerably when the same operator performed the integration several times. By proposing an objective calculation algorithm to determine the start and end points of integration, the variability caused by the operator during the integration procedure could be eliminated. Furthermore, sample preparation and the DSC heating protocol to melt the sample prior to crystallization were studied. Three heating protocols (65 °C for 15 min, 65 °C for 30 min and 80 °C for 15 min) were compared and it was shown that holding at 65 °C for 15 min was sufficient to eliminate any influence of sample history. Two different sample preparation procedures were compared and it appeared that a change in sample preparation procedure had a significant influence on the measured crystallization process. It is thus important to keep this method constant to eliminate the variability caused by it.  相似文献

 Two-electron distribution functions and intracules are functions of electronic coordinates and occupy an important, and frequently overlooked, middle ground between the beguiling simplicity of electron densities and the bewildering complexity of wavefunctions. We survey the functions that have been considered by earlier workers and introduce two new ones, the Wigner intracule and the action intracule, that have not previously been discussed. To illustrate their usefulness, we consider the intracules of jellium, a few small atoms and the dissociating hydrogen molecule. For any B n * n , let m(B n ) and i(B n ) be the numbers of matchings (=the Hosoya index) and the number of independent sets (=the Merrifield–Simmons index) of B n , respectively. In this paper, we give a characterization of the k *-cycle resonant hexagonal chains, and show that for any B n * n , m(H n )m(B n ) and i(H n )i(B n ), where H n is the helicene chain.
