To fight against cancer, smarter drugs and drug delivery systems are required both to boost the efficiency of current treatments while reducing deleterious side effects, and combine diagnosis/monitoring with therapy (theranosis) in the search for the final goal of personalized medicine. This work presents the design, preparation, and proof-of-principle validation of a novel hybrid organic–inorganic nanocomposite joining together non-invasive imaging capabilities through magnetic resonance imaging and externally actuated therapeutic properties through a combination of chemo- and thermotherapy. The lipidic matrix of the nanocomposite was composed of carnauba wax, which was simultaneously dual loaded with magnetite nanoparticles and the anticancer drug Oncocalyxone A. Obtained formulations were fully characterized and showed outstanding performances as T2-contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging (r2>800 mm −1 s−1), heat generating sources in magnetic hyperthermia (specific absorption rate, SAR>200 W g−1Fe), and magnetically responsive drug delivery vehicles. The potential of the designed formulations as theranostic agents was validated in vitro and results indicated a synergistic thermo/chemotherapeutic effect derived from heat generation and controlled drug delivery to cancer growth. Thereby, this external control over the drug delivery profile and the integrated imaging capability open the door to personalized cancer medicine and real-time monitoring of tumor progression.  相似文献

This paper presents an exact algorithm for the identical parallel machine scheduling problem over a formulation where each variable is indexed by a pair of jobs and a completion time. We show that such a formulation can be handled, in spite of its huge number of variables, through a branch cut and price algorithm enhanced by a number of practical techniques, including a dynamic programming procedure to fix variables by Lagrangean bounds and dual stabilization. The resulting method permits the solution of many instances of the P||∑w j T j problem with up to 100 jobs, and having 2 or 4 machines. This is the first time that medium-sized instances of the P||∑w j T j have been solved to optimality.  相似文献

The grid-assisted magnetron sputtering is a variation of the magnetron sputtering commonly used for thin film deposition. In this work, Langmuir probe measurements were performed in such a system by using the grid under two basic and practical electrical conditions, i.e., floating and grounded. The results show that grounding the grid leads to an enhancement of the plasma confinement and to increases in both floating and plasma potential, as inferred from the probe characteristics. The grounded grid drains electrons from the plasma, acting as an auxiliary anode and reducing the plasma diffusion toward the chamber walls. For the same discharge current, the improved confinement results in a lower electron temperature when compared to floating condition, although the electron densities are comparable in both cases.  相似文献

We investigate the influence of anharmonic effects on the zero-point vacancy concentration in a boson system model in the solid phase at T=0 K. We apply the reversible-work method to compute the vacancy formation free energy and the vacancy concentration in the system. A comparison of our results with those obtained using the harmonic approximation show that anharmonic effects reduce the formation free energy by ∼25%, leading to an increase of the zero-point vacancy concentration by more than an order of magnitude.  相似文献

Hubs are facilities used to treat and dispatch resources in a transportation network. The objective of Hub Location Problems (HLP) is to locate a set of hubs in a network and route resources from origins to destinations such that the total cost of attending all demands is minimized. In this paper, we investigate a particular HLP, called the Tree of Hubs Location Problem in which hubs are connected by means of a tree and the overall network infrastructure relies on a spanning tree. This problem is particularly interesting when the total cost of building the hub backbone is high. We propose a biased random key genetic algorithm for solving the tree of hubs location problem. Computational results show that the proposed heuristic is robust and effective to this problem. The method was able to improve best known solutions of two benchmark instances used in the experiments.  相似文献

The C *-algebra generated by the n poly-Bergman and m antipoly-Bergman projections and by the operators of multiplication by piecewise continuous functions on the Lebesgue space L 2(Π) over the upper half-plane is studied. Making use of a local principle, limit operators techniques, and the Plamenevsky results on two-dimensional convolution operators with symbols admitting homogeneous discontinuities we reduce the study to simpler C *-algebras associated with points and pairs . Applying a symbol calculus for the abstract unital C *-algebras generated by N orthogonal projections sum of which equals the unit and by M = n + m one-dimensional orthogonal projections and using relations for the Gauss hypergeometric function, we study local algebras at points being the discontinuity points of coefficients. A symbol calculus for the C *-algebra is constructed and a Fredholm criterion for the operators is obtained.  相似文献

The production of edible film from onion (Allium cepa L.) to be applied as packaging is attractive, due to its chemical properties and biodegradable characteristics. Thus, we tested the hypothesis that edible onion film can positively influence the sensory properties, quality and increasing shelf life of beef burgers patties. The experiment was designed in a 4 × 2 factorial scheme, with two treatments (beef burgers patties with or without edible onion film) at an interval of four storage times (0, 3, 6 and 9 days) at 4 °C. The uncoated burger patties (control) suffered the most intense color modifications during the storage (p < 0.05). The luminosity index was higher (p < 0.05) in the control at all storage times, except at day 6, and redness, yellowness and chrome were higher (p < 0.05) in the edible onion film patties at all storage times. The pH of the beef burger patties was lower (p < 0.05) at all storage times when the edible onion film was applied. For the texture profile, only the chewiness was affected, as the inclusion of the edible onion film improved the chewing of the beef burgers patties over the storage time (p < 0.05). Additionally, there was an inhibition of the microbial growth of mesophiles and psychrophiles with the application of the edible onion film in beef burgers patties. The use of edible onion film improved the perception of panelists for the variables texture, color, flavor, odor and overall appearance, and increased the preference of panelists. The edible onion film is recommended for preserving beef burgers patties, as it delays the proliferation of unwanted microorganisms, stabilizes and improves the color parameters and sensory attributes, and increases the overall acceptance of the consumer.  相似文献

Androstenedione (AD) is a key intermediate in the body’s steroid metabolism, used as a precursor for several steroid substances, such as testosterone, estradiol, ethinyl estradiol, testolactone, progesterone, cortisone, cortisol, prednisone, and prednisolone. The world market for AD and ADD (androstadienedione) exceeds 1000 tons per year, which stimulates the pharmaceutical industry’s search for newer and cheaper raw materials to produce steroidal compounds. In light of this interest, we aimed to investigate the progress of AD biosynthesis from phytosterols by prospecting scientific articles (Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases) and patents (USPTO database). A wide variety of articles and patents involving AD and phytosterol were found in the last few decades, resulting in 108 relevant articles (from January 2000 to December 2021) and 23 patents of interest (from January 1976 to December 2021). The separation of these documents into macro, meso, and micro categories revealed that most studies (articles) are performed in China (54.8%) and in universities (76%), while patents are mostly granted to United States companies. It also highlights the fact that AD production studies are focused on “process improvement” techniques and on possible modifications of the “microorganism” involved in biosynthesis (64 and 62 documents, respectively). The most-reported “process improvement” technique is “chemical addition” (40%), which means that the addition of solvents, surfactants, cofactors, inducers, ionic liquids, etc., can significantly increase AD production. Microbial genetic modifications stand out in the “microorganism” category because this strategy improves AD yield considerably. These documents also revealed the main aspects of AD and ADD biosynthesis: Mycolicibacterium sp. (basonym: Mycobacterium sp.) (40%) and Mycolicibacterium neoaurum (known previously as Mycobacterium neoaurum) (32%) are the most recurrent species studied. Microbial incubation temperatures can vary from 29 °C to 37 °C; incubation can last from 72 h to 14 days; the mixture is agitated at 140 to 220 rpm; vegetable oils, mainly soybean, can be used as the source of a mixture of phytosterols. In general, the results obtained in the present technological prospecting study are fundamental to mapping the possibilities of AD biosynthesis process optimization, as well as to identifying emerging technologies and methodologies in this scenario.  相似文献
