Algebraic domain decomposition solver for linear elasticity

We generalize the overlapping Schwarz domain decomposition method to problems of linear elasticity. The convergence rate independent of the mesh size, coarse-space size, Korn's constant and essential boundary conditions is proved here. Abstract convergence bounds developed here can be used for an analysis of the method applied to singular perturbations of other elliptic problems.     

Surface integral and Gauss-Ostrogradskij theorem from the viewpoint of applications

Making use of a surface integral defined without use of the partition of unity, trace theorems and the Gauss-Ostrogradskij theorem are proved in the case of three-dimensional domains with a Lipschitz-continuous boundary for functions belonging to the Sobolev spaces H ^1,p () (1 p < ). The paper is a generalization of the previous author's paper which is devoted to the line integral.     

Exact asymptotic behavior of singular values of a class of integral operators

We find an exact asymptotic formula for the singular values of the integral operator of the form , a Jordan measurable set) where and L is slowly varying function with some additional properties. The formula is an explicit expression in terms of L and T.     

Oscillatory behavior of critical amplitudes of the Gaussian model on a hierarchical structure

We studied oscillatory behavior of critical amplitudes for the Gaussian model on a hierarchical structure presented by a modified Sierpinski gasket lattice. This model is known to display nonstandard critical behavior on the lattice under study. The leading singular behavior of the correlation length xi near the critical coupling K=K(c) is modulated by a function which is periodic in ln/ln(K(c)-K)/. We have also shown that the common finite-size scaling hypothesis, according to which for a finite system at criticality xi should be of the order of the size of the system, is not applicable in this case. As a consequence of this, the exact form of the leading singular behavior of xi differs from the one described earlier (which was based on the finite-size scaling assumption).     

Influence of the image interaction on ion desorption processes

A classical treatment of the interaction between an ion and a conducting surface during an ion desorption process is presented. Analytical expressions have been obtained for the trajectories of desorbing ions as well as for the trajectories of ions trapped by the image potential. The distortion by the image potential of the energy and angular distribution of desorbing ions is estimated. Our objective has been to provide a guide for experimentalists to the surprisingly large changes in such distributions caused by the image forces.     

Fine-tuning two-particle interferometry I: Effects from temperature gradients in the source

A comprehensive model study of Bose-Einstein correlation radii in heavy ion collisions is presented. The starting point is a longitudinally and transversally expanding fireball, represented at freeze-out by an azimuthally symmetric emission function. The freeze-out temperature is allowed to feature transverse and temporal gradients. Their effects on the correlation radii are studied. In particular, we evaluate numerically their dependence on the transverse mass of the particle pairs and check a recent suggestion, based on analytical approximations, that for certain reasonable source parameters all three correlation radii satisfy simultaneously a scaling.
