Determination of the atomic-state population in A Kr-Br2 mixture

The atomic-state populations of the 5s[1$\text{1}\text{2}$]° metastable level of Kr and of the 5s²P_{$\text{3}\text{2}$} resonant level of Br in a Kr-Br₂ mixture have been determined as functions of current strength. Occurrence of energy transfer from the Kr-level to the Br-level has been verified.     

When does a non-linear point transformation generate an extra O(ℏ2) potential in the effective Lagrangian?

It is known that when a non-linear point transformation is made in the path integral describing a quantum mechanical system, the effective Lagrangian picks up an extra potential which is not obtained by a naive change of integration variables. In field theory on the contrary it is known that such a term is not needed to keep dimensionally regularized complete Green functions invariant. We explain the difference as due to the different regularization procedures used in the two cases. This observation is then used to derive the expression for the extra potential for both the Lagrangian and the Hamiltonian version of the path integral.     

Detailed investigation of the β-decay of the 9/2+ ground state of 99Nb to levels in 99Mo

The decay of ⁹⁹Nb to ⁹⁹Mo has been investigated. The use of the ion-guide technique for on-line mass separation and of a Ge-array for γ-ray detection have allowed the observation of decay branchings lower than 10^?3. Mediumspin levels, some already known from reaction studies and new ones at high energy, are populated. The β-feeding patterns of the decays of the 9/2⁺ states in ⁹⁹Nb and in its isotones ⁹⁷Y, and ¹⁰¹Tc are qualitatively reproduced by QRPA calculations.

It is pointed out that a paper by Flessas on the eigenvalues of the rotating harmonic oscillator recently published in Physics Letters, contains wrong conclusions.

Dynamically modified silica — the use of bare silica in reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography

A new approach to reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography has been developed and investigated in some detail. Bare silica is used as the column packing material with an aqueous eluent containing a buffer, an organic solvent as the modifier and a long-chain quaternary ammonium ion. The eluent exhibits a high affinity to the silica surface at pH values above 5, thus, dynamically, forming a nonpolar stationary phase.
