One-dimensional spectroscopic imaging with stimulated echoes: phantom and human leg studies

One-dimensional phase encoding was incorporated in the stimulated echo single voxel localization sequence for in vivo proton spectroscopic studies. Phantom studies were performed to assess the effect of the number of phase encoding steps on the spectral contamination from the adjacent volumes. Both water suppressed and unsuppressed spectra were obtained in reasonable acquisition times from various regions in the human leg with a spatial resolution of around 1.1 cm3.     

On the interlattice displacement of rhombohedral structure

The expressions for the components of the interlattice displacement to the first order in strain and hence the expressions for the SOE constants are obtained for the rhombohedral lattice using the method of homogeneous deformation. Two and three body interactions are considered up to fourth neighbours in the calculations. The special strains that are generally chosen in explaining the temperature variation of thermal expansion of a uniaxial crystal, which make the interlattice displacement zero, are shown to be dependent [$\text{η}{}_{\mathrm{zz}}\text{= ?}\text{3}\text{2p}{}^2\text{C}\text{D}\text{(η}{}_{\mathrm{xx}}\text{+ η}{}_{\mathrm{yy}}\text{)}$]. The internal displacement factors A, B, C and D are calculated for the metals As, Sb and Bi to get an idea on the magnitude of C/D.

The Effect of Double Dispersion on Natural Convection Heat and Mass Transfer in a Non-Newtonian Fluid Saturated Non-Darcy Porous Medium

The effect of power law index parameter of the non-Newtonian fluid on free convection heat and mass transfer from a vertical wall is analyzed by considering double dispersion in a non-Darcy porous medium with constant wall temperature and concentration conditions. The Ostwald–de Waele power law model is used to characterize the non-Newtonian fluid behavior. In this case a similarity solution is possible. The variation of heat and mass transfer coefficients with the governing parameters such as power law index, thermal and solutal dispersion parameters, inertia parameter, buoyancy ratio, and the Lewis number is discussed for a wide range of values of these parameters.

Synthesis of Some New 4-{2-[(Aryl)amino]-1,3-thiazol4-yl}benzene-1,2-diols as Possible Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents

Some new 4-{2-[(aryl) amino]-1,3-thiazol-4-yl}benzene-1,2-diols are prepared and characterized by spectral analysis. The newly prepared compounds are studied for their antibacterial and antifungal activity. Interestingly, almost all the compounds are found to possess promising antibacterial and antifungal activity against all tested microorganisms.
