Flow in a circular pipe is investigated experimentally at Reynolds numbers higher than that at which the resistance coefficients calculated from the Blasius formula for laminar flow and from the Prandtl formula for turbulent flow are equal. The corresponding Reynolds number based on the mean-flow velocity and the pipe diameter is about 1000. The experiments were performed at a high level of inlet pulsations produced by feeding gas into the pipe through a hole with a diameter several times smaller than the pipe diameter. In our experiments the critical Reynolds number was determined as the value, independent of the distance from the inlet, at which the ratio of the axial to the mean-flow velocity as a function of the Reynolds number deviated from 2. At the maximum ratio of the pipe cross-sectional area to the area of the hole through which the gas entered the pipe, equal to 26, the critical Reynolds number was about 2300. After a fivefold increase in the hole area the critical Reynolds number increased by approximately 4%.At Reynolds numbers below 2000, after at a high level of the inlet pulsations an almost laminar flow had developed in the pipe, a perturbation was introduced by inserting a diametrically oriented cylindrical rod with a diameter 10–20 times smaller than the pipe diameter. In these experiments, at Reynolds numbers higher than 1000, at a distance from the rod equal to 50 pipe diameters the axial to mean-flow velocity ratio was less than 2, approaching this value again at large distances from the rod. The insertion of the rod led to a decrease in the critical Reynolds number by approximately 12%.  相似文献

An efficient synthesis of novel 6-substituted derivatives of pyridoxine was achieved. The reactions of various thiols with mono-, bis-, and tris(сhlorine) derivatives of 6-methyl-2,3,4-tris(hydroxymethyl)pyridin-5-ol (6-hydroxymethylpyridoxine) gave sulfur-containing derivatives of pyridoxine.  相似文献

We propose a method for localization of layered structures in the ionosphere, which is based on simultaneous observations of time variations in the intensity and phase of radio waves along transionospheric paths. The method determines the position of the turning point, where the gradient of the refraction index is perpendicular to the ray trajectory and the influence of the layered structure on the parameters of radio waves is maximal. The layer position is estimated by analyzing the variations in the phase and intensity of radio waves in combination. The method was used to analyze the experimental data obtained by the radio occulation mission CHAMP. The position for inclined plasma layers was determined and the electron density distribution was found for the considered radio occultation sessions. A new method is investigated for phase-only hologram synthesis. The method combines iterative calculation of the hologram phase function with the coding of the amplitude-phase characteristics of the complex transmission function into phase characteristics. A 140-GHz, 1.5-MW, TE28,16-coaxial cavity gyrotron with a dual RF beam output has been designed, built, and tested. For the first time, the generated RF power has been split into two parts and coupled out through two RF output windows in order to reduce the power loading in the windows. The quasioptical output system is based on a two-step mode conversion scheme. First, the cavity mode TE-28,16 is converted into its degenerate whispering gallery mode TE+76,2 using a rippled-wall mode converter. Then, this mode is transformed into two TEM00 output wave beams. A maximum rf output power of about 950 kW with an output efficiency of 20% has been measured. According to numerical calculations, an rf power above 1.5 MW is expected to be generated in the cavity. Even if all losses are taken into account, a discrepancy between experiment and calculations remains. The power deficit seems to be partly caused by the influence of the stray radiation captured inside the tube. However, the two main reasons are probably an incomplete mode conversion from TE-28,16 to TE+76,2 and a large energy spread of the electron beam due to trapped electrons. An increased amount of captured stray radiation resulted in a reduced stability of operation. A single-stage depressed collector was used successfully, increasing the RF output efficiency from 20% to 29%  相似文献

Calculated and experimental data on turbulent transition in a circular pipe are analyzed. The calculations were performed using the three-parameter turbulence model. The dependence of the distance from the inlet to the point of minimum friction during transition on the Reynolds number for fixed inlet conditions and the distribution of the turbulence parameters over the pipe length and radius are obtained. The dependence of the maximum (critical) Reynolds number, Re*, for which there is no transition in the pipe, on the inlet intensity and scale of turbulence is found. It is suggested that Re* depends on the inlet perturbation parameters up to Re* = 1000, where the friction coefficients for laminar and turbulent flows coincide.  相似文献

The design of a 1.5-MW, 140-GHz, TE-28,16-coaxial cavity gyrotron is presented and results of experimental operation are given. A cavity with a cylindrical outer wall and a radially tapered inner rod with longitudinal corrugations was used. A maximum output power of 1.17 MW has been measured in the design mode with an efficiency of 27.2%. Single-mode operation has been found over a wide range of operating parameters. The experimental values agree well with the results of multimode calculations. Frequency-step tuning has been performed between 115.6 and 164.2 GHz. In particular, an output power of 0.9 MW has ben measured in the TE25,14 mode at 123.0 GHz and 1.16 MW in the TE32,18 mode at 158.9 GHz. At frequencies its with strong window reflections the parameter range for which stable operation is possible is reduced significantly. In order to obtain results relevant for a technical realization of a continuously operated gyrotron, a tube with a radial radio frequency (RF)-beam output through two output windows and a single-stage depressed collector has been designed and is under fabrication. A two-step mode conversion scheme-TE- 28,16 to Te+76.2 to TEM00-which generates two narrowly directed (60° at the launcher) output wavebeams has been chosen for a quasioptical (q,o) mode converter system.
