In this work, 102 fragments of Marajoara ceramics, belonging to the National Museum collection (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), were analyzed using energy dispersive X‐ray fluorescence (EDXRF) and principal component analysis (PCA) in order to identify possible groups of samples that present similar behaviors or different characteristics. This information will give an important aid to a more accurate classification of these artifacts. The EDXRF measurements were carried out with a portable system developed in the Nuclear Instrumentation Laboratory consisting of an Oxford TF3005 X‐ray tube, with W anode, and an Si‐PIN XR‐100CR detector from Amptek, working at 25 kV and 100 µA, acquisition time of 600 s and a beam collimation of 2 mm. Summary A tool for analyzing spatio-temporal complex physical phenomena was recently proposed by the authors, Aubry et al. [5]. This tool consists in decomposing a spatially and temporally evolving signal into orthogonal temporal modes (temporal “structures”) and orthogonal spatial modes (spatial “structures”) which are coupled. This allows the introduction of a temporal configuration space and a spatial one which are related to each other by an isomorphism. In this paper, we show how such a tool can be used to analyze space-time bifurcations, that is, qualitative changes in both space and time as a parameter varies. The Hopf bifurcation and various spatio-temporal symmetry related bifurcations, such as bifurcations to traveling waves, are studied in detail. In particular, it is shown that symmetry-breaking bifurcations can be detected by analyzing the temporal and spatial eigenspaces of the decomposition which then lose their degeneracy, namely their invariance under the symmetry. Furthermore, we show how an extension of the theory to “quasi-symmetries” permits the treatment of nondegenerate signals and leads to an exponentially decreasing law of the energy spectrum. Examples extracted from numerically obtained solutions of the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation, a coupled map lattice, and fully developed turbulence are given to illustrate the theory.  相似文献

In order to evaluate its relevance, we reconsider critically the recent proposal by Leggett and Garg to test macrorealism against quantum mechanics by resorting to experiments involving noninvasive measurement processes on a SQUID. Our conclusion is that, in spite of the fact that the proposed experiment would neither constitute a test of macrorealism nor a test of macrocontextuality, a simplified form of it represents a (presumably) feasible experiment permitting a direct test of macroscopic quantum coherence. We also analyze the proposal from the point of view of the recent attempts to build up model theories allowing to take, within a purely quantum framework, a macrorealistic position about natural phenomena, i.e., the socalled dynamical reduction models and we stress that the proposed experiment has no relevance for the dynamical reduction program, as developed so far. However consideration of the SQUID system allows one to test other possible dynamical mechanisms leading to the objectification of macroproperties which could, in principle, be operative. We also briefly sketch experimental procedures to be followed to get all relevant information concerning macrocoherence.  相似文献

The asymptotic null distribution of the likelihood ratio test for two cases of ordered hypotheses in a particular genetic model is considered. A simple iterative process is proposed in order to get the restricted estimates. It is shown that both tests have asymptotically a chi-bar squared distribution and the same size. A simulation study is also conducted in order to compare the usual unrestricted test with the corresponding one of ordered hypotheses. We study the set of equilibrium states for quantum lattice states in the presence of a translation symmetry of the model. We derive a characterization of the spontaneous breaking of this symmetry, i.e., the decomposition of an invariant equilibrium state into a mixture of noninvariant equilibrium states, in terms of the separability in mean energy of these states for a class of perturbed dynamics.  相似文献

Let be a nonorientable m-plane bundle over a CW complex X of dimension m or less. Given a 2-plane bundle over X, we wish to know whether can be embedded as a sub-bundle of . The bundle need not be orientable. When is even-dimensional there is the added complication of twisted coefficients. In that case, we use Postnikov decomposition of certain nonsimple fibrations in order to describe the obstructions for the embedding problem. Emery Thomas [11] and [12] treated this problem for and both orientable. The results found here are applied to the tangent bundle of a closed, connected, nonorientable smooth manifold, as a special case.The writing of this paper was partially supported by CNPq grant  相似文献

A new class of expanding cosmological solutions is derived. The matter content of these models is a mixture of two interacting simple fluids: the first one, homogeneous and isotropic with equation of statep = (-1), the dynamics of which is given by the FRW equation and the second one an inhomogenous dust. The limiting case of two dusts corresponds to the Szekeres' universes of class II. A large subclass of the models evolve to a FRW phase for all physically meaningful values of the polytropic index and the curvature parameterk. A gauge condition, under which the metric is invariant, is shown to exist for k0. Recent mass measurements of proton-rich nuclei close to the N=Z line were used for the calculation of the interaction strength δV pn between valence protons and neutrons. When compared with δV pn values calculated from mass values of the AME’95 mass tables, the breaking down of the SU(4) symmetry is verified at Z=32,33,34.  相似文献

In this article, we report a high‐pressure Raman spectroscopy study of palmitic acid (PA, C form) from ambient pressure up to 21 GPa. The effects of hydrostatic pressure on the vibrational spectrum of PA are reported, and the data show that PA experiences a rich sequence of phase transformations. These changes in the crystal structure occur gradually as the pressure increases and they are related to the highly flexible crystalline structure. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
