A new phase in the Ag−O−S system

The investigations of reaction between Ag₂SO₄ and Ag₂S in air atmosphere have been carried. Results of DTA and X-ray phase powder diffraction of a reaction mixture have confirmed that in the Ag?O?S system exists a new phase. A formula of the phase is Ag₂SO₂.     

Study of isotope exchange reactions by double labelling

This paper presents the method of double labelling in the study of the kinetics of homogeneous isotope exchange reactions. This method was tested by the determination of the Sn(II)−Sn(IV) exchange rate in hydrochloric acid medium. The system was labelled by the tracer^119mSn [initially in the Sn(IV) state]; when the isotope equilibrium was established, Sn(IV) was again labelled by tracer¹¹³Sn. The separation of Sn(II) and Sn(IV) in the given time of exchange was performed by the extraction of Sn(IV)-hydroxyquinolate into chloroform. The specific activities of the separated components were determined from the ratio of¹¹³Sn and^119mSn activities. The exchange rate was calculated from the time dependence of specific activities. The advantage and possibilities of the method of double labelling in the study of isotope exchange are discussed.     

On distribution of molecular weight in anionic polymerizates of caprolactam

Measurement has been made of the dependence of the molecular weight distribution on the ratio of the catalytic system components and on the polymerization time for polycaprolactam obtained by anionic polymerization. A bimodal character of the curves was observed for products made using molar ratios of activator (N-benzoylcaprolactam) to initiator (sodium dihydro-bis(methoxyethoxy)aluminate) of 1:1 and 1:3, when the polymerization times were less than 1 hr. This course is explained by the influence of fast side-reactions, mainly condensations. For a ratio of 3:1 of the components of the catalytic system, smooth integral distribution curves are obtained, accounting for a very fast decrease in the strong base concentration in the initial stages of the polymerization.     

Application of High Pressure-DTA for High Pressure-liquid Phase Epitaxy of Doped Mercury and Thallium HTS Formations

The fabrication method of superconducting thin films of compositions HgBa₂Ca₂Cu₃O_8+δ (Hg-1223) and Tl₂Ba₂CuO_y (2201) on single-crystalline SrTiO₃ and LaAlO₃ substrates is reported. The highest obtained T _c was 134 K and J _c over 10⁶ A cm^–2 at 77 K. High pressure DTA(HP-DTA) was applied to grow mercury- and thallium-based high-temperature superconducting crystals and thin films, to identify melting points of particular phases within these oxide systems and determine suitable processing conditions. The DTA system operates at the: maximum temperature of 1200°C, volume up to 5 cm³, working pressure up to 1.5 GPa and at a working atmosphere — inert gas with up to 25% oxygen. One-phase supported titanium-based catalysts for polymerization of ethylene. III. ESR spectra of the ternary system Sio2—R3Al—TiCl4

The ternary catalyst systems based on activated silica, aluminum alkyl, and titanium tetrachloride were polymerized in an ethylene gas-phase polymerization process, and further studied using ESR spectroscopy. Two types of titanium (III) ESR-active centers were observed and a linear dependence between the concentration of that characterized by a rhombic anisotropic signal with g₁ = 1.962, g₂ = 1.945, and g₃ = 1.913 values and catalyst productivity was found. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

Thin-Layer Chromatography with an Isolated Support and Forced Flow of the Mobile Phase

X-ray structure and multinuclear NMR studies of platinum(II) and palladium(II) complexes with 5,7-ditertbutyl-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine

Pt(II) and Pd(II) dichloride complexes with 5,7-ditertbutyl-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (dbtp) have been synthesized and characterized by infrared and ¹H, ¹³C NMR, ¹³C CPMAS spectroscopy. The structures of the cis-PtCl₂(dbtp)₂ · EtOH (1) and cis-PdCl₂(dbtp)(dmso) (2) has been determined by signal-crystal X-ray diffraction. In both complexes the X-ray crystal structures shows that heterocycle ligand (dbtp) binds the central atom monodentate via nitrogen atom N(3). In addition, compound (2) is interesting for its structural features, because it is the first report of mixed dichloride Pd(II) complexes with N-donor (triazolopyrimidine) and S-donor (dimethylsulfoxide) ligands. In this structure the Pd–Cl distances are: 2.302(1) and 2.281(1) Å, Pd–N 2.041(3) Å and Pd–S 2.245(1) Å. The ¹H, ¹³C NMR studies show clearly that these structures are retained in solution.

Titanium - catalyzed dimerization of cycloheptatriene affords pentacyclo[7.5.0.0^2,8.0^5,14.0^7,11]tetradeca-3,12-diene, $\text{3}$, and pentacyclo[8.4.0.0^3,7.0^4,14.0^6,11]tetradeca-8,12-diene, $\text{4}$. By heating, $\text{3}$ is converted quantitatively into $\text{4}$.     

Determination of Mn,Fe, Cu,Zn, and Pb in particulate matter,raw and final materials of a brick factory by radionuclide X-ray fluorescence analysis

Radionuclide X-ray fluorescence method with a Si/Li semiconductor detector and²³⁸Pn exciting source was used in the study of Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, and Pb content of solid emissions, raw and final materials of a brick factory. From the point of view of metal content, the working environment of the brick factory is safe for workers.     

Theoretical methods in thermodynamics of condensed phases

Theoretical possibilities of determining energetic and thermodynamic characteristics of chemical entities in gaseous and condensed (solid and liquid) phases are briefly reviewed. The considerations include quantum chemistry methods which enable evaluation of energetic quantities and statistical thermodynamics dependencies necessary for determining other thermodynamic characteristics. The possible applications of these methods are also discussed in brief.
