Effect of the synthesis temperature of porous carbon-metal oxide composites on the gold particle morphology

The state of gold deposited from a chloride solution on the surface of the porous magnetite-carbon composite obtained from modified birch saw dust at 400 and 800°C was studied by electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and XRD analysis. The shape and size of the deposited gold crystallites depend on the synthesis temperature of the composite. The deposited gold crystallites were mainly ray-shaped at the synthesis temperature of 400°C and spheroid at 800°C.     

Investigation of the loading capacity of multicapillary chromatographic columns

It was shown by the comparison of multicapillary and single-capillary columns for gas-liquid chromatography that an approximately 100-fold larger sample could be injected into multicapillary columns without substantial loss in efficiency, because the injected sample volume, causing no significant loss in efficiency, is two orders of magnitude higher for gas-liquid multicapillary columns than for gas-adsorption multicapillary columns.     

Mechanochemical Treatment of Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide

The influence exerted by mechanical activation of electrolytic manganese dioxide under conditions ensuring insulation of the system from a reducing agent on parameters of chemical batteries based on the Zn-MnO₂ electrochemical system was studied.     

A multicapillary gas chromatographic column with a Sol-Gel sorbent based on aluminum oxide

A multicapillary gas chromatographic column with an adsorption layer based on alumina was prepared. The column allowed the high-speed separation of C₁-C₄ light hydrocarbons to be performed in 8–12 s. The possibility of creating columns with various selectivities was demonstrated.     

Monolithic rod columns for HPLC based on divinylbenzene-styrene copolymer with 1-vinylimidazole and 4-vinylpyridine

Monolithic chromatographic columns for HPLC based on divinylbenzene-styrene both with 1-vinylimidazole and with 4-vinylpyridine are prepared. The monoliths were synthesized in glass tubes with the inner diameter of 2?mm. Texture, hydrodynamic and chromatographic properties of the prepared columns were studied. Linear solvation energy relationships model was applied for the characterization of columns selectivity It is shown that changing the on 1-vinylimidazole or 4-vinylpyridine content in the initial solution allows to change the selectivity of the columns. An examples of small molecules and some proteins separations are presented.

Programming of temperature and flow rate of carrier gas in work with polycapillary columns for gas-liquid chromatography

Methods of programming temperature and flow rate of carrier gas for to reducing the time of analyte separation on polycapillary columns (PCC) are compared. As was shown, the programming of temperature is accompanied by a change of peak shape, associated with the irregular heating of PCC capillaries. The programming of carrier gas flow rate does not distort the shape of chromatography peaks and does not require long time to return the system to the starting conditions.     

Behavior of silver sulfide in the system Ag<Subscript>2</Subscript>S-Fe(NO<Subscript>3</Subscript>)<Subscript>3</Subscript>-HNO<Subscript>3</Subscript>-H<Subscript>2</Subscript>O

Behavior of silver sulfide in the system Ag₂S-Fe(NO₃)₃-HNO₃-H₂O was studied at 25, 55, and 80°C using the method of the simplex-lattice experiment design. The quantitative dependences of Ag₂S oxidation on the concentrations of the acid and Fe³⁺ were determined. The isoconcentration diagrams were obtained.     

Deposition of gold from chloride solutions on microporous iron-carbon sorbents

The process of deposition of gold from an aqueous solution of hydrogen tetrachloroaurate(III) on microporous composites synthesized from a blend of sawdust, iron and zinc chlorides was examined. Their high sorption capacity for gold was shown, one reason of which is the interaction chloroaurate ions with iron oxide.
