Investigation of the loading capacity of multicapillary chromatographic columns

It was shown by the comparison of multicapillary and single-capillary columns for gas-liquid chromatography that an approximately 100-fold larger sample could be injected into multicapillary columns without substantial loss in efficiency, because the injected sample volume, causing no significant loss in efficiency, is two orders of magnitude higher for gas-liquid multicapillary columns than for gas-adsorption multicapillary columns.     

Formation of a given distribution of anisotropy axes in ferromagnets with regular inhomogeneities

The possibility for forming a given direction distribution of effective anisotropy axes of magnetic blocks is studied in one-dimensional nanogranular structures with alternating directions of local anisotropy axes of crystallites. Analytical expressions are derived for the direction distribution density of effective axes. It is shown that the direction of the anisotropy axes of magnetic blocks is very sensitive to the size of ferromagnetic grains and the degree of misorientation of local axes. Computer simulation is used to verify the derived direction distributions of effective axes of blocks.     

A multicapillary gas chromatographic column with a Sol-Gel sorbent based on aluminum oxide

A multicapillary gas chromatographic column with an adsorption layer based on alumina was prepared. The column allowed the high-speed separation of C₁-C₄ light hydrocarbons to be performed in 8–12 s. The possibility of creating columns with various selectivities was demonstrated.     

Monolithic rod columns for HPLC based on divinylbenzene-styrene copolymer with 1-vinylimidazole and 4-vinylpyridine

Monolithic chromatographic columns for HPLC based on divinylbenzene-styrene both with 1-vinylimidazole and with 4-vinylpyridine are prepared. The monoliths were synthesized in glass tubes with the inner diameter of 2?mm. Texture, hydrodynamic and chromatographic properties of the prepared columns were studied. Linear solvation energy relationships model was applied for the characterization of columns selectivity It is shown that changing the on 1-vinylimidazole or 4-vinylpyridine content in the initial solution allows to change the selectivity of the columns. An examples of small molecules and some proteins separations are presented.

Deposition of gold from chloride solutions on microporous iron-carbon sorbents

The process of deposition of gold from an aqueous solution of hydrogen tetrachloroaurate(III) on microporous composites synthesized from a blend of sawdust, iron and zinc chlorides was examined. Their high sorption capacity for gold was shown, one reason of which is the interaction chloroaurate ions with iron oxide.     

A capillary gas chromatographic column with a porous layer based on a mesoporous material

A procedure for synthesizing an MSM-41-type mesoporous mesophase material (MMM) layer, that is, a layer of a solid porous material with a regular arrangement of nanoscale calibrated pores and a unified geometry, on the inner wall of a capillary column was developed. Because of the high specific surface area of silica, capillary columns with a porous MMM layer on the basis of silica allow the amount of samples introduced to be increased by an order of magnitude compared with the known capillary porous-layer columns. An example of the separation of light hydrocarbons is described. The properties of columns with MMM porous layers are discussed.     

Correlation properties of the stochastic magnetic structure of ultradispersed ferromagnetic materials

The properties of the stochastic magnetic structure of ultradispersed ferromagnetic materials are studied. The correlation coefficients of the magnetization of a magnetic material are calculated for various types of chaos in the anisotropy field. The effects of different types of disorder on the parameters of a stochastic magnetic structure are compared. Numerical simulations by various methods confirm the theoretical results. Fiz. Tverd.
