The novel ternary reduced molybdenum oxide Mn(approximately)(2.4)Mo(6)O(9) has been synthesized by solid-state reaction at 1400 degrees C for 96 h in sealed molybdenum crucibles. Electron diffraction studies showed that Mn(approximately)(2.4)Mo(6)O(9) presents a complex crystal structure with a 3d incommensurate modulation. The average crystal structure was determined on a single-crystal by X-ray diffraction in the orthorhombic space group Pnma with the following lattice parameters: a = 16.4824(2) A, b = 2.8273(2) A, c = 17.3283(2) A, Z = 4. The Mo network consists of empty twin chains of trans-edge-sharing octahedra that occur for the first time in a solid-state compound. The Mo-Mo distances within the chains range from 2.62 to 2.92 A, and the Mo-O distances from 1.99 to 2.17 A as usually observed in the reduced molybdenum oxides. Single-crystal resistivity measurements show that Mn(approximately)(2.4)Mo(6)O(9) is metallic between 4.2 and 300 K. The magnetic susceptibility data indicate paramagnetic behavior due to the Mn(2+) moment at high temperatures with a weak ferromagnetic behavior below 80 K. 相似文献

A multiplexed microbioreactor system for parallel operation of multiple microbial fermentation is described. The system includes miniature motors for magnetic stirring of the microbioreactors and optics to monitor the fermentation parameters optical density (OD), dissolved oxygen (DO), and pH, in-situ and in real time. The microbioreactors are fabricated out of poly(methylmethacrylate)(PMMA) and poly(dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS), and have a working volume of 150 microl. Oxygenation of the cells occurs through a thin PDMS membrane at the top of the reactor chamber. Stirring is achieved with a magnetic spin bar in the reactor chamber. Parallel microbial fermentations with Escherichia coli are carried out in four stirred microbioreactors and demonstrate the reproducible performance of the multiplexed system. The profiles for OD, DO, and pH compare favourably to fermentations performed in bioreactor systems with multiple bench-scale reactors. Finally, the multiplexed system is used to compare two different reactor designs, demonstrating that the reproducibility of the system permits the quantification of microbioreactor performance. 相似文献

Tagless extraction-retentate chromatography: a new global protein digestion strategy for monitoring differential protein expression 总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
A new global protein digestion and selective peptide extraction strategy for the purpose of monitoring differential protein expression, coined as tagless extraction-retentate chromatography, is introduced. Target protein populations are firstly digested under reduced and alkylated conditions, and resultant peptides selectively extracted via covalent attachment to methionine residues by bromoacetyl reactive groups tethered to the surface of glass beads packed in small reaction vessels. After conjugation, reactive beads are stringently washed to remove nonspecifically bound peptides and then later treated with beta-mercaptoethanol to release captured methionine peptides in their nascent state, without complicating affinity tags. Recovered methionine containing peptides are profiled using the surface-enhanced laser desorption/ionization (SELDI) retentate chromatography mass spectrometry (RCMS) method. Selected peptides are further studied employing ProteinChip tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) analysis to identify their parent proteins. This approach has been applied to an Escherichia coli lysate model system and has demonstrated facility in reducing global digest complexity, sensitivity to low protein expression levels, and significant quantitative capability. It is envisioned that tagless extraction-RCMS will evolve to be a valuable approach for both basic research and clinical proteomics endeavors. 相似文献

Mass spectra of some naturally occurring stictane triterpenoids and their trimethylsilyl derivatives
The mass spectra of ten di- and tri-oxygenated stictane triterpenoids and their trimethylsilyl derivatives have been studied in detail. Gas chromatography mass spectrometry of the TMS derivatives on OV-17 and OV-101 columns provided useful separations and identifications of mixtures of stictanes triterpenoids in lichen extracts. The major fragmentations involve ring C, but specific cleavages in rings A, B and E are also observed which allow the substitution pattern of the skeleton to be readily determined. The formation of an intense [M – C5H11?]+ ion for 22α-OTMS stictanes appears specific to their ring E configuration. 相似文献

The complex linear response function, which can be employed for calculations of second-order molecular properties in regions of strong absorption, is here extended to encompass the mixed electric-dipole-magnetic-dipole polarizability. The mixed electric-dipole-magnetic-dipole polarizability determines the optical rotation and, when absorption is taken into account, the full anomalous optical rotatory dispersion (ORD) spectra of chiral molecules can be calculated using first-principle quantum-chemical methods. Gauge-origin independence of the results is ensured through the use of London atomic orbitals. To illustrate the importance of taking the absorption process properly into account, we here apply this methodology to the study of the anomalous ORD of hydrogen peroxide, 3R-methylcyclohexanone, 4R-1,1-dimethyl-[3]-(1,2)-ferrocenophan-2-on, and the D(2) isomer of the C(84) fullerene. 相似文献

Corn steep liquor (CSL), a byproduct of the corn wet-milling process, was used in an immobilized cell continuous biofilm reactor
to replace the expensive P2 medium ingredients. The use of CSL resulted in the production of 6.29 g/L of total acetone-butanol-ethanol
(ABE) as compared with 6.86 g/L in a control experiment. These studies were performed at a dilution rate of 0.32 h−1. The productivities in the control and CSL experiment were 2.19 and 2.01 g/(L·h), respectively. Although the use of CSL resulted
in a 10% decrease in productivity, it is viewed that its application would be economical compared to P2 medium. Hence, CSL
may be used to replace the P2 medium. It was also demonstrated that inclusion of butyrate into the feed was beneficial to
the butanol fermentation. A control experiment produced 4.77 g/L of total ABE, and the experiment with supplemented sodium
butyrate produced 5.70 g/L of total ABE. The butanol concentration increased from 3.14 to 4.04 g/L. Inclusion of acetate in
the feed medium of the immobilized cell biofilm reactor was not found to be beneficial for the ABE fermentation, as reported
for the batch ABE fermentation.
