A series of stable complexes, (PMe(3))(3)Ru(SiR(3))(2)(H)(2) ((SiR(3))(2) = (SiH(2)Ph)(2), 3a; (SiHPh(2))(2), 3b; (SiMe(2)CH(2)CH(2)SiMe(2)), 3c), has been synthesized by the reaction of hydridosilanes with (PMe(3))(3)Ru(SiMe(3))H(3) or (PMe(3))(4)Ru(SiMe(3))H. Compounds 3a and 3c adopt overall pentagonal bipyramidal geometries in solution and the solid state, with phosphine and silyl ligands defining trigonal bipyramids and ruthenium hydrides arranged in the equatorial plane. Compound 3a exhibits meridional phosphines, with both silyl ligands equatorial, whereas the constraints of the chelate in 3c result in both axial and equatorial silyl environments and facial phosphines. Although there is no evidence for agostic Si-H interactions in 3a and 3b, the equatorial silyl group in 3c is in close contact with one hydride (1.81(4) A) and is moderately close to the other hydride (2.15(3) A) in the solid state and solution (nu(Ru.H.Si) = 1740 cm(-)(1) and nu(RuH) = 1940 cm(-)(1)). The analogous bis(silyl) dihydride, (PMe(3))(3)Ru(SiMe(3))(2)(H)(2) (3d), is not stable at room temperature, but can be generated in situ at low temperature from the 16e(-) complex (PMe(3))(3)Ru(SiMe(3))H (1) and HSiMe(3). Complexes 3b and 3d have been characterized by multinuclear, variable temperature NMR and appear to be isostructural with 3a. All four complexes exhibit dynamic NMR spectra, but the slow exchange limit could not be observed for 3c. Treatment of 1 with HSiMe(3) at room temperature leads to formation of (PMe(3))(3)Ru(SiMe(2)CH(2)SiMe(3))H(3) (4b) via a CH functionalization process critical to catalytic dehydrocoupling of HSiMe(3) at higher temperatures. Closer inspection of this reaction between -110 and -10 degrees C by NMR reveals a plethora of silyl hydride phosphine complexes formed by ligand redistribution prior to CH activation. Above ca. 0 degrees C this mixture converts cleanly via silane dehydrogenation to the very stable tris(phosphine) trihydride carbosilyl complex 4b. The structure of 4b was determined crystallographically and exhibits a tetrahedral P(3)Si environment around the metal with the three hydrides adjacent to silicon and capping the P(2)Si faces. Although strong Si.HRu interactions are not indicated in the structure or by IR, the HSi distances (2.00(4) - 2.09(4) A) and average coupling constant (J(SiH) = 25 Hz) suggest some degree of nonclassical SiH bonding in the RuH(3)Si moiety. The least hindered complex, 3a, reacts with carbon monoxide principally via an H(2) elimination pathway to yield mer-(PMe(3))(3)(CO)Ru(SiH(2)Ph)(2), with SiH elimination as a minor process. However, only SiH elimination and formation of (PMe(3))(3)(CO)Ru(SiR(3))H is observed for 3b-d. The most hindered bis(silyl) complex, 3d, is extremely labile and even in the absence of CO undergoes SiH reductive elimination to generate the 16e(-) species 1 (DeltaH(SiH)(-)(elim) = 11.0 +/- 0.6 kcal x mol(-)(1) and DeltaS(SiH)(-)(elim) = 40 +/- 2 cal x mol(-)(1) x K(-)(1); Delta = 9.2 +/- 0.8 kcal x mol(-)(1) and Delta = 9 +/- 3 cal x mol(-)(1).K(-)(1)). The minimum barrier for the H(2) reductive elimination can be estimated, and is higher than that for silane elimination at temperatures above ca. -50 degrees C. The thermodynamic preferences for oxidative additions to 1 are dominated by entropy contributions and steric effects. Addition of H(2) is by far most favorable, whereas the relative aptitudes for intramolecular silyl CH activation and intermolecular SiH addition are strongly dependent on temperature (DeltaH(SiH)(-)(add) = -11.0 +/- 0.6 kcal x mol(-)(1) and DeltaS(SiH)(-)(add) = -40 +/- 2 cal.mol(-)(1) x K(-)(1); DeltaH(beta)(-CH)(-)(add) = -2.7 +/- 0.3 kcal x mol(-)(1) and DeltaS(beta)(-CH)(-)(add) = -6 +/- 1 cal x mol(-)(1) x K(-)(1)). Kinetic preferences for oxidative additions to 1 - intermolecular SiH and intramolecular CH - have been also quantified: Delta = -1.8 +/- 0.8 kcal x mol(-)(1) and Delta = -31 +/- 3 cal x mol(-)(1).K(-)(1); Delta = 16.4 +/- 0.6 kcal x mol(-)(1) and Delta = -13 +/- 6 cal x mol(-)(1).K(-)(1). The relative enthalpies of activation (-)(1) x K(-)(1)). Kinetic preferences for oxidative additions to 1 - intermolecular SiH and intramolecular CH - have been also quantified: Delta (H)SiH(add) = 1.8 +/- 0.8 kcal x mol(-)(1) and Delta S((SiH-add) =31+/- 3 cal x mol(-)(1) x K(-)(1); Delta S (SiH -add) = 16.4 +/- 0.6 kcal x mol(-)(1) and =Delta S (SiH -CH -add) =13+/- 6 cal x mol(-)(1) x K(-)(1). The relative enthalpies of activation are interpreted in terms of strong SiH sigma-complex formation - and much weaker CH coordination - in the transition state for oxidative addition.  相似文献

The scaled-particle theory has been applied to the calculation of the thermodynamic changes associated with the formation of a cavity in several isotopic varieties of liquid water and methanol. From these results, the thermodynamic functions for the transfer of a cavity (or a hard-sphere solute) have been computed for the following solvent pairs: H2OD2O, H2OH2 18O, H2 18OD2 18O, D2OD2 18O, CH3OHCH3OD. For the last two of these solvents, density measurements required for the calculations were carried out as a function of temperature. The calculated deuterium solvent isotope effect on the heats and entropies of hard-sphere solutes in water is much greater than the18O isotope effect; the former also exhibits a more pronounced temperature dependence. The transfer functions computed for hard-sphere solutes are compared to experimental data on the transfer of various solutes from H2O to D2O and from CH3OH to CH3OD. In most of the cases examined, the cavity effect accounts for a large part of the transfer quantities measured for rare gases, hydrocarbons, and solutes containing a significant hydrocarbon substituent.  相似文献

2’-(4-Pyridyl)- and 2’-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-TCIBPs (TCIBP = 3,3’,5,5’-tetrachloro-2-iodo-4,4’-bipyridyl) are chiral compounds that showed interesting inhibition activity against transthyretin fibrillation in vitro. We became interested in their enantioseparation since we noticed that the M-stereoisomer is more effective than the P-enantiomer. Based thereon, we recently reported the enantioseparation of 2’-substituted TCIBP derivatives with amylose-based chiral columns. Following this study, herein we describe the comparative enantioseparation of both 2’-(4-pyridyl)- and 2’-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-TCIBPs on four cellulose phenylcarbamate-based chiral columns aiming to explore the effect of the polymer backbone, as well as the nature and position of substituents on the side groups on the enantioseparability of these compounds. In the frame of this project, the impact of subtle variations of analyte and polysaccharide structures, and mobile phase (MP) polarity on retention and selectivity was evaluated. The effect of temperature on retention and selectivity was also considered, and overall thermodynamic parameters associated with the analyte adsorption onto the CSP surface were derived from van ’t Hoff plots. Interesting cases of enantiomer elution order (EEO) reversal were observed. In particular, the EEO was shown to be dependent on polysaccharide backbone, the elution sequence of the two analytes being P-M and M-P on cellulose and amylose tris(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate), respectively. In this regard, a theoretical investigation based on molecular dynamics (MD) simulations was performed by using amylose and cellulose tris(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate) nonamers as virtual models of the polysaccharide-based selectors. This exploration at the molecular level shed light on the origin of the enantiodiscrimination processes.  相似文献

A variety of protein isolation and purification techniques for ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complexes were investigated for their compatibility with downstream analysis by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). Ribosomal proteins from Escherichia coli 70S ribosomes were obtained using methods such as phenol extraction and precipitation by organic solvents or acids. Under optimal conditions, more than 90% of the expected ribosomal proteins were detected in a single MALDI-MS experiment. The most effective approach combined ribosome denaturation by buffer exchange with acid precipitation of the ribosomal ribonucleic acids. An improved acid precipitation approach, involving the sequential additions of acetic and trifluoroacetic acid, yielded more complete protein coverage while minimizing loss of ion signal from lower molecular weight proteins. With phenol extraction, substantial gains in ion abundance of higher molecular weight proteins are noted, although some of the lower molecular weight proteins were not efficiently extracted. These results illustrate several effective approaches for protein isolation from protein complexes such as RNPs that are MALDI-MS compatible, and these approaches should extend the use of MALDI-MS for proteomics-based analyses of other protein-nucleic acid complexes.  相似文献

The use of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) networks as templates for the electrodeposition of metal (Ag and Pt) nanostructures is described. Pristine SWNTs, grown on insulating SiO2 surfaces using catalyzed chemical vapor deposition, served as the working electrode. In the simplest case, electrical contact was made by depositing a gold strip on the SWNT substrate (device 1). Deposition of Ag and Pt over extensive periods (30 s) resulted in a high density of particles on the SWNTs, with almost contiguous nanowire formation from the Au/SWNT boundary moving to isolated nanoparticles at further distances from the contact. For direct electrochemical studies of Ag and Pt nucleation, the assembly was coated in a resist layer and a small window opened up to expose only the electrically connected SWNTs to solution (device 2). In this case, the electrochemical signature in voltammetric and amperometric studies of metal deposition was due solely to processes at the SWNTs. Coupled with high-resolution microscopy measurements (atomic force microscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy), this approach provided detail on the nucleation and growth mechanisms of Ag and Pt on SWNTs under electrochemical control. In particular, Ag growth was found to be rapid and progressive with an increasing nanoparticle density with time, whereas Pt deposition was characterized by lower nucleation densities and slower growth rates with a tendency for larger particles to be produced over long times.  相似文献

Experimental and computational studies were performed to understand the electronic structure of ternary perovskites (ASnO(3), A = Ca, Sr, Ba, Cd), pyrochlores (RE(2)Sn(2)O(7), RE = Y, La, Lu; Cd(2)Sb(2)O(7)), and defect pyrochlore oxides (Ag(2)Sb(2)O(6)) containing the main group ions Sn(4+) and Sb(5+). In all compounds, the lowest energy states in the conduction band arise primarily from the antibonding Sn/Sb 5s-O 2p interaction. In the alkaline-earth stannate perovskites (BaSnO(3), SrSnO(3), and CaSnO(3)) the conduction bandwidth decreases strongly in response to the octahedral tilting distortion triggered by the decreasing size of the alkaline-earth cation. This in turn leads to a corresponding increase in the band gap from 3.1 eV in BaSnO(3) to 4.4 eV in CaSnO(3). The band gap of CdSnO(3) is relatively small (3.0 eV) considering the large octahedral tilting distortion. The origin of this apparent anomaly is the mixing between the empty Cd 5s orbitals and the antibonding Sn 5s-O 2p states. This mixing leads to a widening of the conduction band and a corresponding decrease in the band gap. The participation of the normally inert A-site cation in the electronic structure near the Fermi level can be considered an inductive effect, as it utilizes substitution on the A-site to directly modify the electronic structure of the SnO(3)(2)(-) framework. While the pyrochlore structure is more complicated, the energy level and width of the lowest energy conduction band can be analyzed in a manner similar to that utilized on the perovskite structure. The Sn-O-Sn and Sb-O-Sb bonds are highly distorted from linear geometry in pyrochlore, leading to a relatively narrow conduction band and a wide band gap. In Cd(2)Sb(2)O(7) and Ag(2)Sb(2)O(6) the Cd(2+) and Ag(+) ions exhibit a strong inductive effect that widens the conduction band and lowers the band gap significantly, very similar to the effect observed in the perovskite form of CdSnO(3).  相似文献

The slow addition of NO to a CCl(4) solution of VCl(4) reproducibly forms the known polymer [V(NO)(3)Cl(2)](n)() as a dark brown powder. Treatment of a CH(2)Cl(2) suspension of [V(NO)(3)Cl(2)](n)() with excess THF generates mer-(THF)(3)V(NO)Cl(2) (1) which can be isolated as an orange crystalline material in 55% yield. The reaction of 1 with excess MeCN or 1 equiv of trimpsi (trimpsi = (t)BuSi(CH(2)PMe(2))(3)) provides yellow-orange (MeCN)(3)V(NO)Cl(2)xMeCN (2xMeCN) and yellow (trimpsi)V(NO)Cl(2) (3), respectively. A black, crystalline complex formulated as [NO][VCl(5)] (4) is formed by the slow addition of NO to neat VCl(4) or by the reaction of excess ClNO with neat VCl(4). Complex 4 is extremely air- and moisture-sensitive, and IR spectroscopy suggests that in solutions and in the gas phase it dissociates back into VCl(4) and ClNO. Reaction of 4 with excess [NEt(3)(CH(2)Ph)]Cl generates [NEt(3)(CH(2)Ph)](2)[VCl(6)]x2CH(2)Cl(2) (5x2CH(2)Cl(2)), which can be isolated as deep-red crystals in 51% yield. All new complexes have been characterized by conventional spectroscopic methods, and the solid-state molecular structures of 1, 2xMeCN, and 5x2CH(2)Cl(2) have been established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses.  相似文献

Reaction of the side-on end-on dinitrogen complex [{(NPN)Ta}(2)(mu-H)(2)(mu-eta(1):eta(2)-N(2))] (1; in which NPN=(PhNSiMe(2)CH(2))(2)PPh), with the Lewis acids XR(3) results in the adducts [{(NPN)Ta}(2)(mu-H)(2)(mu-eta(1):eta(2)-NNXR(3))], XR(3)=GaMe(3) (2), AlMe(3) (3), and B(C(6)F(5))(3) (4). The solid-state molecular structures of 2, 3, and 4 demonstrate that the N-N bond length increases relative to those found in 1 by 0.036, 0.043, and 0.073 A, respectively. In solution complexes 2-4 are fluxional as evidenced by variable-temperature (1)H NMR spectroscopy. The (15)N{(1)H} NMR spectra of 2-4 are reported; furthermore, their vibrational properties and electronic structures are evaluated. The vibrational structures are found to be closely related to that of the parent complex 1. Detailed spectroscopic analysis on 2-4 leads to the identification of the theoretically expected six normal modes of the Ta(2)N(2) core. On the basis of experimental frequencies and the QCB-NCA procedure, the force constants are determined. Importantly, the N-N force constant decreases from 2.430 mdyn A(-1) in 1 to 1.876 (2), 1.729 (3), and 1.515 mdyn A(-1) (4), in line with the sequence of N-N bond lengths determined crystallographically. DFT calculations on a generic model of the Lewis acid adducts 2-4 reveal that the major donor interaction between the terminal nitrogen atom and the Lewis acid is mediated by a sigma/pi hybrid molecular orbital of N(2), corresponding to a sigma bond. Charge analysis performed for the adducts indicates that the negative charge on the terminal nitrogen atom of the dinitrogen ligand increases with respect to 1. The lengthening of the N-N bond observed for the Lewis adducts is therefore explained by the fact that charge donation from the complex fragment into the pi* orbitals of dinitrogen is increased, while electron density from the N-N bonding orbitals p(sigma) and pi(h) is withdrawn due to the sigma interaction with the Lewis acid.  相似文献
