Studies on strontium substituted rare earth manganites   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Sintering, electrical conductivity and thermal expansion behaviour of combustion synthesised strontium substituted rare earth manganites with the general formula Ln1−xSrxMnO3 (Ln=Pr, Nd and Sm; x=0, 0.16 and 0.25) have been investigated as solid oxide fuel cell cathode materials. The combustion derived rare earth manganites have surface area in the range of 13–40 m2/g. Strontium substitution increases the electrical conductivity values in all the rare earth manganites. With the decreasing ionic radii of rare earth ions, the conductivity value decreases. Among the rare earth manganites studied, (Pr/Nd)0.75Sr0.25MnO3 show high electrical conductivity (>100 S/cm). The thermal expansion coefficients of Pr0.75Sr0.25MnO3 and Nd0.75Sr0.25MnO3 were found to be 10.2×10−6 and 10.7×10−6 K−1 respectively, which is very close to that of the electrolyte (YSZ) used in solid oxide fuel cells.  相似文献

The present study was aimed to investigate the novel approach for the promotion of leather finishing properties through the incorporation of copper nanoparticles (Cu nanoparticles). Cu nanoparticles were synthesized by chemical reduction method, and particle sizes were in the range of 25–50 nm. X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope, ultra violet-vis spectrometry and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the Cu nanoparticles. The ascorbic acid was used as a protective agent to prevent the oxidation. Polyvinylpyrrolidone used as a stabilizing and dispersing agent, whereas sodium borohydride was used as a reducing agent. Spray coatings were carried out with Cu nanoparticles on both base and top coat formulations to evaluate their performance properties. Interestingly, the Cu nanoparticles coated leather samples showed the improved wet and rub fastness, color fastness to water and adhesion strength.  相似文献

The solasodine isolated from Solanum trilobatum has been examined for possible anti-inflammatory activity in acute and chronic inflammatory animal models. Solasodine (5, 30 and 75?mg?kg?1) exerted statistically significant and dose-dependent anti-inflammatory activity in carrageenan-induced rat paw oedema, which was similar to that of indomethacin (10 mg?kg?1), a known anti-inflammatory agent. At the dose of 75?mg?kg?1, solasodine inhibited the arachidonic acid-elicited rat paw oedema 1 h after arachidonic acid challenge. Topical application of solasodine significantly inhibited the ear inflammation induced by multiple applications of tetradecanoyl-phorbol 13-acetate. It also suppressed the volume of exudates, total leucocytes and amount of neutrophil migration into the rat pleural cavity. Administration of solasodine at a dose of 75 mg?kg?1 significantly inhibited the adjuvant-induced rat paw oedema. These results suggest that solasodine exerts anti-inflammatory activity, at least partly through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase and 5-lipoxygenase pathways.  相似文献

Calcined Mg, Ni, Cu, Co, and Zn hydrotalcites (CHTs) tested for their catalytic performance in the side chain ethylation of toluene with ethanol at 300, 350, 400, and 450°C. The major products were propylbenzene, β-methylstyrene, ortho-, para-, and meta-ethyltoluene. MgAl-CHTs gave side chain alkylated propylbenzene, while over Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn-CHTs, side chain as well as nuclear alkylated products and ethyltoluene were observed.  相似文献

Vibration based non-destructive evaluation shows promise for damage detection in metal-to-metal adhesive joints. This research investigates an experimental technique to diagnose damage in single-lap adhesive joints subject to cyclical tensile loading. Vibration analysis reveals that damage can be correlated with changes in identified modal damping ratios. Constant amplitude forcing functions are employed to eliminate amplitude-dependent nonlinearities in the dynamic response profiles. Damping estimates obtained from time-domain analyses correlate well with damage magnitudes. Finite element modal analysis of the lap joints supports the experimental results.  相似文献

The antifungal activity of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-stabilized quantum-sized silver nanoparticles (SNPs) against the growth of Candida albicans has been demonstrated in the present study. C. albicans is a known opportunistic human pathogen causing superficial and systemic infections. Research data carried out on C. albicans so far have shown unequivocally that it develops resistance against conventional antifungal drugs and that the infections it causes are difficult to cure with conventional antifungal agents. Hence, it is urgent to find newer materials for the treatment of infections caused by C. albicans that must be safe for the host. PVP-capped SNPs were synthesized, and its surface plasmon band was observed at 410 nm. The growth of C. albicans was markedly inhibited when the cells were incubated with SNP. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of SNP was determined as 70 ng/ml, and this value is relatively lower when compared with the conventionally used antifungal drugs such as amphotericin B (0.5 μg/ml), fluconazole (0.5 μg/ml), and ketoconazole (8 μg/ml). The viability of SNP-treated cells was checked by measuring the metabolic activity using XTT assay. Field emission scanning electron microscopic (FE-SEM) and transmission electron microscopic (TEM) analyses of the cells treated with SNP have lost the structural integrity to a greater extent.  相似文献

The present experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of coculturing on myogenic and adipogenic marker gene expressions with the use of C2C12 and 3 T3-L1 preadipocyte cells under the coculture system. C2C12 and 3 T3-L1 cells were cocultured using transwell inserts with a 0.4-μm porous membrane to separate C2C12 and 3 T3-L1 cells. Each cell type was grown independently on the transwell plates. Following cell differentiation, inserts containing 3 T3-L1 cells were transferred to C2C12 plates, and inserts containing C2C12 cells were transferred to 3 T3-L1 plates. After coculture of the C2C12 and 3 T3-L1 cells for 48 and 72 h, the cells in the lower well were harvested for analysis, and this process was carried out for both cells. Myogenic markers such as myogenin, MyoD, Myf5, PAX3, and PAX7 mRNA expressions were analyzed in the cocultured C2C12 cells. Adipogenic markers such as fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4), peroxisome proliferator-activating receptor (PPARγ), CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein (CEBPA), adiponectin, lipoprotein lipase, and fatty acid synthase mRNA expressions were analyzed in the cocultured 3 T3-L1 cells. Myogenic and adipogenic marker gene mRNA expressions were significantly altered in the cocultured C2C12 and 3 T3-L1 cells when compared with the monocultured C2C12 and 3 T3-L1 cells.  相似文献

The present study was carried out to understand the effect of cortisol on calpain system in the C2C12 and 3T3-L1 adipocyte cells under co-culture system. Cells were co-cultured by using transwell inserts with a 0.4 μm porous membrane to separate C2C12 and 3T3-L1 preadipocyte cells. Each cell type was grown independently on the transwell plates. Following cell differentiation, inserts containing 3T3-L1 cells were transferred to C2C12 plates. Ten microgram per milliliter of cortisol was added to the medium. Following treatment for 3 days, the cells in the lower well were harvested for analysis. Calpains such as μ-calpain, m-calpain, and calpastatin were selected for the analysis. RT-PCR results indicated the significant increase in the mRNA expression of μ-calpain, m-calpain, and calpastatin. In addition, the confocal microscopical investigation indicated the cortisol treatment increases calpain expression in the C2C12 and 3T3-L1 cells. Taking all these together, cortisol treatment with co-culture system shows most reliable status of calpains expression in the cells, which is quite distinct from one-dimensional monocultured cells.  相似文献

Liquid phase acylation of phenol with acetic anhydride was studied over the mixed oxides obtained from Mg-Al, Ni-Al, and Cu-Al hydrotalcites (HTs). The mixed oxides were characterized by XRD and SEM. The main acylation products of phenol over these oxide catalysts are phenylacetate and o-hydroxyacetophenone.  相似文献
