An extremely rapid green approach that generates bulk quantities of nanocrystals of noble metals such as palladium (Pd) and platinum (Pt) nanoparticles (NPs) with a small sizes of 3.8 ± 0.2 and 2.1 ± 0.4 nm by using Piper betle L. (Piperaceae) leaf extract is described. The highly stable and monodispersed Pd and Pt NPs were obtained at 10 min of continuous sunlight exposure. The bio-reduced Pd and Pt NPs were further characterized by using UV–Visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and cyclic voltammetry measurements. The particles, although discrete, were predominately associated with the P. betle plant proteins, which makes them stable over long time periods. These synthesized biogenic Pd and Pt NPs were evaluated for their acute toxicity studies against aquatic organism, Daphnia magna. 相似文献

The stabilization and growth of nanocrystals in "non-native" structures is explored via density functional calculations. Non-native and "native" bulk structures differ in their discrete translational symmetry. Computations suggest that the lower surface energy of the non-native structures always facilitates their stabilization in the early stages of crystal growth. In the compound semiconductors considered here, the transition pathways between non-native and native structures involve planar or near-planar depolarized layers and the growth conditions have significant effects on the stabilization and growth of non-native structures. The findings of this study help in identifying heuristics for the synthesis of non-native nanocrystals. 相似文献

Two-dimensional gold nanoparticle assemblies with an average nanoparticle size of 6 nm are generated on silicon and indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass surfaces, functionalized with polyethylenimine (PEI) silane monolayer. Contact angle measurements show increased hydrophilic character of the surface due to nanoparticle formation. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) are used to monitor the chemical and structural development of these nanostructures, while UV–vis spectroscopy is used to follow the formation of the nanoparticle assemblies. This paper elucidates a simple route to in situ synthesis of surface immobilized gold nanoparticles under ambient conditions and also extends to the synthesis of other surface bound nanoparticles, like silver and platinum. Gold nanoparticle assemblies generated in this study are also catalytically active towards methanol oxidation reaction (MOR), which is relevant for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). 相似文献

Sensitive and flexible pressure sensors have invoked considerable interest for a broad range of applications in tactile sensing, physiological sensing, and flexible electronics. The barrier between high sensitivity and low fabrication cost needs to be addressed to commercialize such flexible pressure sensors. A low-cost sacrificial template-assisted method for the capacitive sensor has been reported herein, utilizing a porous Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) polymer and a multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) composite-based dielectric layer. The sensor shows high sensitivity of 2.42 kPa−1 along with a low limit of detection of 1.46 Pa. The high sensitivity originates from adding MWCNT to PDMS, increasing the composite polymer’s dielectric constant. Besides this, the pressure sensor shows excellent stability at a cyclic loading of 9000 cycles, proving its reliability for long-lasting application in tactile and physiological sensing. The high sensitivity of the sensor is suitable for the detection of small deformations such as pulse waveforms as well as tactile pressure sensing. In addition, the paper demonstrates a simultaneous contact and non-contact sensing capability suitable for dual sensing (pressure and proximity) with a single data readout system. The dual-mode sensing capability may open opportunities for realizing compact systems in robotics, gesture control, contactless applications, and many more. Abstract The rate constant for BaP decomposition induced by exposure to UV rays and rate constants for BaP1,6; 3,6; 6,12 diones formation were determined. Experiments were conducted by depositing the BaP on clean glass fiber-filter and on airborne paniculate collected by filter. The BaP half-life appears to be positively correlated with filter loading and airborne particulates protect BaP from UV degradation. Our results suggest that BaP1,6dione, BaP3,6dione, BaP6,12dione are not the main by-products of BaP photodegradation induced by UV. 相似文献

Principles of single-element holographic diffractive optics for collimation of diode laser beams with a large divergence, an elliptic cross-section, and astigmatism are presented. Holographic off-axis transformation enables collimation of the beam in two variants: one with a perpendicular input beam and an oblique output beam, and the other with the beams arranged vice-versa. Diffraction due to an elliptic aperture is analyzed. Inspection of experimental samples demonstrates an agreement with theory in the case of diffraction limited focal pattern and shows increase of astigmatism with the departure from diffraction only limitation. 相似文献
