The cohesion potential energy of the crystal of one enantiomer of ethyl 3-cyano-3-(3,4-dimethyloxyphenyl)-2,2,4-trimethylpentanoate, −47.7 ± 0.1 kJ mol−1 (0–90°C), was found out from the heat of sublimation (123.2 ± 5.1 kJ mol−1, 78.6°C) and the kinetic energies for the gas phase and the crystal. It was found that the entropy function of Debye’s theory of solids mathematically agreed with the vibrational entropy of the gas (variationally obtained), allowing to disclose the vibrational energy using the Debye energy function (E vib 835.0 kJ mol−1 (78.6°C), E 0 included). E kin for the crystal (771.1 kJ mol−1 (78.6°C)) was obtained by Debye’s theory with the experimental heat capacity. The cohesion energy represented a moderate part of the sublimation energy. The cohesion energy of the racemic crystal, −44.2 kJ mol−1, was obtained by the heat of formation of the crystal in the solid state (3.0 kJ mol−1, 83.3°C) and E kin for the crystal (by Debye’s theory). The decrease in cohesion on formation of the crystal accounted for the energy of formation. The change in potential energy on liquefaction of the racemate from the gas state was disclosed obtaining added-up E vib + rot for the liquid in the way as to E vib for the gas, the Debye entropy function being increasedly suited for the liquid (E vib + rot 763.4 kJ mol−1 (115.4°C)). Positive ΔE pot, 13.0 kJ mol−1, arised from the increase in electronic energy (Δ l νmean − 154.3 cm−1, by the dielectric nature of the liquid), added to the cohesion energy.  相似文献

New families of enantiopure bis(oxazolines) with 4,5-trans (5 a-g) or 4,5-cis (6 c) stereochemistry at the individual rings have been prepared in high yield. Their eta(3)-allyl palladium complexes (8 a-g, 9 c and 10) have been used as catalytic precursors in allylic alkylation reactions with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 96 %) for the trans oxazoline derivatives, while Pd/6 c system was inactive. NMR studies on palladium eta(3)-1,3-diphenylallyl intermediates (11 a, c and e) showed the presence of syn/syn- and syn/anti-allyl isomers in solution; this resembles the first example of eta(3)-eta(1)-eta(3) isomerism in Pd allylic complexes containing bis(oxazolines) derived from malonic acid.  相似文献

We describe the mechanochemical regulation of a reaction that would otherwise be considered to be photochemical, via a simple process that yields nm spatial resolution. An atomic force microscope (AFM) probe is used to remove photocleavable nitrophenyl protecting groups from alkylsilane films at loads too small for mechanical wear, thus enabling nanoscale differentiation of chemical reactivity. Feature sizes of 20–50 nm are achieved repeatably and controllably at writing rates up to 1 mm s−1. Line widths vary monotonically with the load up to 2000 nN. To demonstrate the capacity for sophisticated surface functionalisation provided by this strategy, we show that functionalization of nanolines with nitrilo triacetic acid enables site-specific immobilization of histidine-tagged green fluorescent protein. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the key energetic barrier in the photo-deprotection reaction of the nitrophenyl protecting group is excitation of a π–π* transition (3.1 eV) via an intramolecular charge-transfer mechanism. Under modest loading, compression of the adsorbate layer causes a decrease in the N–N separation, with the effect that this energy barrier can be reduced to as little as 1.2 eV. Thus, deprotection becomes possible via either absorption of visible photons or phononic excitation transfer, facilitating fast nanolithography with a very small feature size.

Photolithography without optics: compression of nitrophenyl protecting groups under an atomic force microscope probe modifies their electronic structure and reduces the energy barrier to deprotection, enabling nanolithography without UV light.  相似文献

Acanthocereus tetragonus (L.) Hummelinck is used as an alternative food source in some Mexican communities. It has been shown that the young stems of A. tetragonus provide crude protein, fiber, and essential minerals for humans. In this work, we analyzed the phytochemical profile, the total phenolic content (TPC), and the antioxidant activity of cooked and crude samples of A. tetragonus to assess its functional metabolite contribution to humans. The phytochemical profile was analyzed using Ultra-High-Performance Liquid Chromatography coupled to High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (UHPLC-PDA-HESI-Orbitrap-MS/MS). Under the proposed conditions, 35 metabolites were separated and tentatively identified. Of the separated metabolites, 16 occurred exclusively in cooked samples, 6 in crude samples, and 9 in both crude and cooked samples. Among the detected compounds, carboxylic acids, such as threonic, citric, and malic acids, phenolic acids, and glycosylated flavonoids (luteolin-O-rutinoside) were detected. The TPC and antioxidant activity were analyzed using the Folin–Ciocalteu method and the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical inhibition method, respectively. The TPC and antioxidant activity were significantly reduced in the cooked samples. We found that some metabolites remained intact after the cooking process, suggesting that A. tetragonus represents a source of functional metabolites for people who consume this plant species.  相似文献

Elimination of atomic hydrogen (H) and molecular hydrogen (H2) are important elementary chemical processes in photochemistry and combustion chemistry. Recently, unique and sensitive detection techniques for atomic and molecular hydrogen detection were developed in our laboratory. Using the advanced molecular beam methods, we have studied the photodissociation of a few typical hydrocarbons at 157 nm excitation, especially their atomic and molecular hydrogen elimination processes. In this report, we will briefly describe the results from photodissociation of propane, ethylene, propyne and methanol at 157 nm excitation. These molecules represent different classes of hydrocarbons such as alkane, alkene, alkyne and alcohol. Through careful studies on differently deuterated compounds, clear pictures of selective atomic and molecular hydrogen elimination processes can be constructed for all of the above compounds. These results will help us to understand the dissociation dynamics of the small hydrocarbon molecules.  相似文献

The branched pentasaccharide chain of ganglioside GM1 is a prominent cell surface ligand, for example, for cholera toxin or tumor growth-regulatory homodimeric galectins. This activity profile via protein recognition prompted us to examine the binding properties of peptides with this specificity. Our study provides insights into the mechanism of molecular interaction of this thus far unexplored size limit of the protein part. We used three pentadecapeptides in a combined approach of mass spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy and molecular modelling to analyze the ligand binding in solution. Availability of charged and hydrophobic functionalities affected the intramolecular flexibility of the peptides differently. Backfolding led to restrictions in two cases; the flexibility was not reduced significantly by association of the ligand in its energetically privileged conformations. Major contributions to the interaction energy arise from the sialic acid moiety contacting Arg/Lys residues and the N-terminal charge. Considerable involvement of stacking between the monovalent ligand and aromatic rings could not be detected. This carbohydrate binding strategy is similar to how an adenoviral fiber knob targets sialylated glycans. Rational manipulation for an affinity enhancement can now be directed to reduce the flexibility, exploit the potential for stacking and acquire the cross-linking capacity of the natural lectins by peptide attachment to a suitable scaffold.  相似文献

The solvent control on the ability of a partially substituted lower rim calix(4)arene derivative 5,11,17,23,tetra-tert-butyl[25,27-bis(hydroxy)-26,28-bis(ethylthioethoxy)]-calix(4)arene, 1 to host soft metal cations (Hg(II) and Ag(I)) is demonstrated through 1H NMR, electrochemical (conductance measurements), and thermodynamic characterization of the complexation process in a wide variety of solvents. Solvent-ligand interactions were assessed from 1H NMR measurements involving 1 and various solvents in CDCl3. Thus, the formation of a 1:1 1-CH3CN adduct is reported. As far as metal cations are concerned, depending on the medium their complexation with 1 was only observed for Hg(II) and Ag(I). Thus, in acetonitrile, 1 is more selective for Hg(II) relative to Ag(I) by a factor of 2.2 x 10(3). In methanol the selectivity is reversed to an extent that the affinity of 1 for Ag(I) is 1.4 x 10(3) higher than that for Hg(II). However, 1 is unable to recognize selectively these cations in N,N-dimethylformamide while in propylene carbonate the ability of 1 to interact with these cations is lost. An outstanding feature of thermodynamics emerges when an assessment is made of the ligand effect on the complexation of these cations and analogues calix(4)arene derivatives. Thus, in acetonitrile the thermodynamics of cation complexation by the hydrophilic cavity of a calix(4)arene containing mixed pendant groups is built up from thermodynamic data for the same process involving derivatives with common functionalities at the narrow rim. This is a unique example of the additive contribution of pendant arms in the field of thermodynamics of calixarene chemistry.  相似文献
