As part of the Shallow Water Acoustics in a Random Medium (SWARM) experiment, a 16 element WHOI vertical line array (WVLA) was moored in 70 m of water off the New Jersey coast. A 400-Hz acoustic tomography source was moored some 32-km shoreward of this array, such that an acoustic path was created that was anti-parallel to the primary propagation direction for shelf-generated internal wave solitons. The presence of these soliton internal waves in the acoustic waveguide causes significant coupling of energy between propagating acoustic modes, creating fluctuations in modal intensities and modal peak arrival times, as well as time spreading of the pulses. Two methods by which acoustic propagation and scattering in soliton-filled waveguides can be modeled are presented here in order to understand and explain the scattering observed in the SWARM field data. The first method utilizes the Preisig and Duda [IEEE J. Ocean. Eng. 22, 256-269 (1997)] Sudden Interface Approximation (SIA) to represent the solitons. The second method, which is computationally slower, uses a finely meshed, "propagated" thermistor record to simulate the solitons in the SWARM experiment waveguide. The Λ multiplicity and Λ/p ratio are studied by hadron transportation-string fragmentation model in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Firstly, the dependence of Λ multiplicity and Λ/p ratio on the system size and the collision centrality is studied. It shows that the Λ and p multiplicities go up as the increase of system size and the increase of collision centrality. However, their ratio keeps almost a constant. The effect of Λ annihilation cross section to Λ multiplicity and Λ/p ratio is also studied. It is found that this effect is weak: Λ multiplicity and Λ/p ratio have a little amount of increase by the decrease of Λ annihilation cross section. Even the cross section is down to zero, Λ/p ratio is only 1.2 in 200A GeV AuAu head on collision. The Λ/p ratio is obtained to be 0.28 in pp collision, lying in the range of experimental data:0.2—0.3. It is also obtained that the ratio in AA collisions is 3—5 times of that in pp collision. 相似文献

The 18F, produced during nova explosions, is the main responsible
for the 511 keV γ-ray emitted during the outburst that could be detected
with satellite missions or future γ-ray telescopes. In spite of many
experimental efforts, the amount of 18F synthesized still suffers from large
uncertainties concerning mainly the 18F(p,α)15O reaction. We report here on a new
direct measurement of the 18F(p,α)15O cross section recently carried out at the RIB
facility at Louvain-la-Neuve. Cross section data down to a center-of-mass
energy of 400 keV have been obtained using an isobarically pure 18F beam
(averaged intensity of the order of 106 pps) and a thin polyethylene
target. The reaction products were detected using the multi-strip detector
array LEDA. The cross section data are analysed in the framework of the
R-matrix model. Our main aim is to determine the interference sign between
three 3/2+ resonances above threshold that can significantly affect the
extrapolation of the 18F(p,α)15O cross section to the energies relevant for novae,
and thus, the modeling of nova explosions. 相似文献

The adsorption of methylsilane (MeSiH3) on Au(1 1 1) was investigated using density functional theory (DFT) within a generalized gradient approximation (GGA). Two preferred chemisorption sites are identified: the hollow site and an atop site with an ejected gold substrate atom. Both of these configurations result in a tetracoordinate Si with a distorted tetrahedral geometry. The energy of adsorption is calculated allowing an analysis of the preferred binding geometry as a function of coverage. The relation of the supermolecular length scale pattern that emerges from a spinodal decomposition of the two phases arising from the two binding geometries is discussed. The pattern observed in the STM images is shown to be consistent with the local density of states calculated for the two different binding geometries. 相似文献

Near space and time coincident 200-kHz acoustic backscatter and CTD measurements were taken during an interdisciplinary study of the internal wave packets that propagate through Massachusetts Bay.
