As a remarkable orientationally ordered soft-condensed matter system, the smectic-C*(alpha) phase exhibits an incommensurate nanoscale helical pitch of more than four smectic layers. Recent theoretical advances predict the existence of a new phase showing a helical pitch of less than four smectic layers (<16 nm). By applying a novel optical technique to the study of freestanding films with increments in thickness of one smectic layer, we have measured the size of this pitch using 633 nm HeNe laser light. Our results confirm the existence of the newly predicted phase in one unique compound. 相似文献

The reactions of the half‐sandwich iron(II) complex [FeCl(Cp*)(tmeda)] ( 1 ; Cp*=η5‐C5Me5, TMEDA=N,N,N′,N′‐tetramethylethylenediamine) with potassium naphthalenide or potassium anthracenide gave the diamagnetic complexes [(Cp*)Fe(μ‐polyarene)Fe(Cp*)] (polyarene=naphthalene ( 2 ), anthracene ( 3a )), which have two {(Cp*)Fe} units bound to opposite faces of the polyarene. One of two {(Cp*)Fe} units in 3a is located over the central ring of anthracene while the other is positioned over an outer ring. The {(Cp*)Fe} unit bound to the central ring of 3a migrates to the outer ring upon heating in the solid state to give the isomer 3b . The electrochemical potential separations between successive one‐electron redox events for complexes 2 and 3b are large. The mixed valence complexes [ [2]+ ]+ and [ [3b]+ ]+ were synthesized by chemical oxidation. The mixed‐valence complex [ [3b]+ ]+ is charge delocalized on the Mössbauer timescale at 78 K, and its absorption spectrum shows an intervalence charge‐transfer band. Complex [ [2]+ ]+ exhibits two absorption bands in the near‐IR region and a slightly broadened doublet in the Mössbauer spectrum. DFT calculations were carried out to examine the electronic structures of these dinuclear iron(I) complexes to elucidate the factors responsible for their diamagnetism and to determine the degree of charge delocalization in the mixed‐valence complexes. 相似文献

Investigation of the constituents of the fruits of Morus alba LINNE (Moraceae) afforded five new nortropane alkaloids (1-5) along with nor-psi-tropine (6) and six new amino acids, morusimic acids A-F (7-12). Electronic effects on the central carbon atom of carbone, generated by the replacement of the SIV ligand of carbodisulfane (CDS) with other chalcogen ligands (Ph2E, E=S or Se), were investigated. The carbones Ph2E→C←SPh2(NMe) [E=S( 1 ) or Se( 2 )] were synthesized from the corresponding salts, and their molecular structures and electronic properties were characterized. The carbone 2 is the first carbone containing selenium as the coordinated atom. DFT calculations revealed the electronic structures of 1 and 2 , which have two lone pairs of electrons at the carbon center. The trend in HOMO energy levels, estimated by cyclic voltammetry measurements, for the carbones and CDS follows the order of 2 > 1 >CDS. Analysis of a doubly protonated dication and trication complex revealed that the central carbon atom of 2 behaves as a four‐electron donor. 相似文献

Titania–silica composite have been prepared using polyethylene glycol (PEG) with different molecular weights (M
w), PEG20000, PEG10000, and PEG2000, as template in supercritical carbon dioxide (SC CO2). The composite precursors were dissolved in SC CO2 and impregnated into PEG templates using SC CO2 as swelling agent and carrier. After removing the template by calcination at suitable temperature, the titania–silica composite
were obtained. The composite were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and nitrogen
sorption–desorption experiment. Photocatalytic activity of the samples has been investigated by photodegradation of methyl
orange. Results indicate that there are many Si–O–Ti linkages in the TiO2/SiO2 composite; the PEG template has a significant influence on the structure of TiO2/SiO2. In addition, the TiO2/SiO2 prepared with PEG10000 exhibited high photocatalytic efficiency. So this work supplies a clue to control and obtain the TiO2/SiO2 composite with different photocatalytic reactivity with the aid of suitable PEG template in supercritical CO2. 相似文献

The thermal reaction of C(60) with five- and six-membered morpholinocycloalkenes in refluxing toluene exclusively gave the [2+2] cycloadducts in high yields. However, a seven-membered homologue sluggishly reacted with C(60) because of the increasing steric hindrance. This cycloaddition reaction is likely to proceed via a single electron transfer (SET), a radical-coupling, and subsequent ion cyclization rather than the prior proton transfer between the radical ions. 相似文献

The catalytic enantioselective reaction of α‐phenylthioacetonitriles with imines has been developed. The reaction of various imines proceeds in good yields and diastereo‐ and enantioselectivities in the presence of chiral bis(imidazoline)–palladium catalysts. The obtained products can be converted into β‐aminonitrile or β‐aminoamide compounds without loss of enantiopurity. 相似文献
