We present a practical method for calculating the gravitational self-force, as well as the electromagnetic and scalar self-forces, for a particle in a generic orbit around a Kerr black hole. In particular, we provide the values of all the regularization parameters needed for implementing the (previously introduced) mode-sum regularization method. We also address the gauge-regularization problem, as well as a few other issues involved in the calculation of gravitational radiation reaction in Kerr spacetime.  相似文献

A (FA)(2)PF(6) crystal from the family of the quasi-one-dimensional organic conductors was selectively damaged by a beam of Helium ions with a slitted mask placed in the beam's trajectory. Pulsed ESR density weighted imaging of the damaged crystal revealed the appearance of regions where the ESR signal was absent. The one-dimensional motion of the charge carriers was thus restricted to the undamaged sections. The local charge carrier spin dynamics in these restricted areas was probed by combined k-space q-space pulsed ESR imaging. The local expected appearance of the restricted pulsed gradient spin echo (PGSE) "diffusive diffraction" effect is shown. The position of the diffraction minima is compatible with the density imaging results.  相似文献

We report a one‐pot ligation/cyclization technology for the rapid and clean conversion of linear peptides into tricyclic peptides that is based on using tetravalent scaffolds containing two benzyl bromide and two alkyne moieties. These react via CLIPS/CuAAC reactions with cysteines and azides in the peptide. Flexibility in the scaffolds is key to the formation of isomerically pure products as the flexible scaffolds T4 1 and T4 2 mostly promote the formation of single isomeric tricycles while the rigid scaffolds T4 3 and T4 4 do not yield clean products. There seems to be no limitation to the number and types of amino acids present as 18 canonical amino acids were successfully implemented. We also observed that azides at the peptide termini and cysteine residues in the center gave better results than compounds with the functional groups placed the other way round.  相似文献

We show that a self-similar general relativistic spherical collapse of a perfect fluid with an adiabatic equation of statep=(–1) and low enough values, results in a naked singularity. The singularity is tangent to an event horizon which surrounds a massive singularity and the redshift along a null geodesic from the singularity to an external observer is infinite. We believe that this is the most serious counter example to cosmic censorship obtained so far.This Essay received the fifth award from the Gravity Research Foundation for 1987-Ed.  相似文献

We present a new experimental approach, in which anion photodetachment spectroscopy is recorded with electrons of fixed kinetic energy. This approach circumvents some shortcomings of the zero electron kinetic energy method. Our method is based on a modified magnetic bottle photoelectron spectrometer (MBPES). A tunable laser is used to detach electrons from mass selected anions, drifting collinearly with the 40 cm MBPES drift tube. To avoid Doppler broadening, a low voltage pulse removes the velocity component of anions from the detached electrons. Spectra are recorded by collecting the wavelength dependence of electron-signal at a predetermined TOF window, corresponding to a specific electron-kinetic energy. We call this approach PEACE, denoting photoelectron action spectroscopy at constant kinetic energy. Our best resolution is 0.65 meV for 1.5 meV electrons. We present a PEACE spectrum of HgCl(-) together with the corresponding simulated theoretical spectrum. The method is similar in resolution and data collection rates to the slow electron velocity map imaging technique recently introduced by Neumark and co-workers.  相似文献

The thionation and cyclization of N‐(ω‐halogenoalkyl)‐substituted amides (and related compounds) with Lawesson's reagent (LR=2,4‐bis(4‐methoxyphenyl)‐1,3,2,4‐dithiadiphosphetane 2,4‐disulfide) has been investigated. Treatment of the amides 1 with LR gave the corresponding thioamides 2 in moderate to good yields (Table). The latter, upon treatment with base, afforded, either in a separate step or in a one‐pot procedure, the cyclized title compounds, i.e., the 4,5‐dihydro‐1,3‐thiazoles 3 or the corresponding 5‐6‐dihydro‐4H‐thiazines 4 via dehydrohalogenation.  相似文献
