A novel two color infrared (IR) device that allows fast electrical switching between the short wavelength IR (SWIR) band (0.9–1.6 μm) and the long wavelength IR (LWIR) band (8–12 μm) is presented. The integrated sensor is based on MOCVD grown, lattice matched (to InP substrate) epilayers of InGaAs/InP and consists of two, monolithically integrated sections of heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) and quantum well infrared photodetector (QWIP).  相似文献

In recent years, much effort has been made to increase our ability to infer nerve fiber direction through the use of diffusion MR. The present study examines the effect of the rotational angle (alpha), i.e. the angle between the diffusion sensitizing gradients and the main axis of the fibers in the nerves, on different NMR indices. The indices examined were the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), extracted from low b-values (b(max) approximately 1200 s/mm(2)), and the root mean square (rms) displacement of the fast and the slow-diffusing components extracted from high b-value q-space diffusion MR data. In addition, the effect of both the diffusion time and myelination was evaluated. We found that the most sensitive index to the rotational angle is the rms displacement of the slow-diffusing component extracted from the high b-value q-space diffusion MR experiment. For this component the rms displacement was nearly constant for alpha values ranging from -10 degrees to +80 degrees (where alpha=0 degrees is the z direction), but it changed dramatically when diffusion was measured nearly perpendicular to the nerve fiber direction, i.e., for alpha=90+/-10 degrees. The ADC and the rms displacement of the fast-diffusing component exhibited only gradual changes, with a maximal change at alpha=45+/-15 degrees. The sensitivity of the rms displacement of the slow-diffusing component to the rotational angle was found to be higher at longer diffusion times and in mature fully myelinated nerves. The relevance of these observations for determining the fiber direction is briefly discussed.  相似文献

In recent years, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and its variants have been used to describe fiber orientations and q-space diffusion MR was proposed as a means to obtain structural information on a micron scale. Therefore, there is an increasing need for complex phantoms with predictable microcharacteristics to challenge different indices extracted from the different diffusion MR techniques used. The present study examines the effect of diffusion pulse sequence on the signal decay and diffraction patterns observed in q-space diffusion MR performed on micron-scale phantoms of different geometries and homogeneities. We evaluated the effect of the pulse gradient stimulated-echo, the longitudinal eddy current delay (LED) and the bipolar LED (BPLED) pulse sequences. Interestingly, in the less homogeneous samples, the expected diffraction patterns were observed only when diffusion was measured with the BPLED sequence. We demonstrated the correction ability of bipolar diffusion gradients and showed that more accurate physical parameters are obtained when such a diffusion gradient scheme is used. These results suggest that bipolar gradient pulses may result in more accurate data if incorporated into conventional diffusion-weighted imaging and DTI.  相似文献

The general relativistic Dirac equation is formulated in an arbitrary curved space-time using differential forms. These equations are applied to spherically symmetric systems with arbitrary charge and mass. For the case of a black hole (with event horizon) it is shown that the Dirac Hamiltonian is self-adjoint, has essential spectrum the whole real line and no bound states. Although rigorous results are obtained only for a spherically symmetric system, it is argued that, in the presence of any event horizon there will be no bound states. The case of a naked singularity is investigated with the results that the Dirac Hamiltonian is not self-adjoint. The self-adjoint extensions preserving angular momentum are studied and their spectrum is found to consist of an essential spectrum corresponding to that of a free electron plus eigenvalues in the gap (–mc 2, +mc 2). It is shown that, for certain boundary conditions, neutrino bound states exist.Supported in part by the National Science Foundation  相似文献

Using Monte Carlo molecular dynamics, a new, careful study is made of the approach of the trajectory of a typical particle in a hard sphere fluid to that of a Brownian particle, discussed before by Powles and Quirke and Rapaport. The apparent fractal dimension of the trajectory, as a function of reduced length scale,(), characterizes the transition from mechanical to Brownian motion and differs markedly from 2 in all present computer simulations.  相似文献

Direct photon production has been studied by an experiment performed with the NA3 spectrometer at CERN, using incident negative and positive beams at 200 GeV/c interacting with an isoscalar Carbon target. Two different triggers have been used; one of them requires the photon conversion. The experiment is sensitive to direct photons produced with 3.0≦P T ≦6 GeV/c and center-of-mass rapidity ?0.4≦y *≦1.2. Inclusive cross sections are given for incident π± and protons, and compared with second order QCD predictions; finally an estimation of the gluon structure function of the nucleon is given.  相似文献

A new framework is introduced for kinetic simulation of laser–plasma interactions in an inhomogeneous plasma motivated by the goal of performing integrated kinetic simulations of fast-ignition laser fusion. The algorithm addresses the propagation and absorption of an intense electromagnetic wave in an ionized plasma leading to the generation and transport of an energetic electron component. The energetic electrons propagate farther into the plasma to much higher densities where Coulomb collisions become important. The high-density plasma supports an energetic electron current, return currents, self-consistent electric fields associated with maintaining quasi-neutrality, and self-consistent magnetic fields due to the currents. Collisions of the electrons and ions are calculated accurately to track the energetic electrons and model their interactions with the background plasma. Up to a density well above critical density, where the laser electromagnetic field is evanescent, Maxwell’s equations are solved with a conventional particle-based, finite-difference scheme. In the higher-density plasma, Maxwell’s equations are solved using an Ohm’s law neglecting the inertia of the background electrons with the option of omitting the displacement current in Ampere’s law. Particle equations of motion with binary collisions are solved for all electrons and ions throughout the system using weighted particles to resolve the density gradient efficiently. The algorithm is analyzed and demonstrated in simulation examples. The simulation scheme introduced here achieves significantly improved efficiencies.  相似文献

Odd-parity rotating magnetic fields (RMFo) applied to mirror-configuration plasmas have produced average electron energies exceeding 200 eV at line-averaged electron densities of approximately 10(12) cm-3. These plasmas, sustained for over 10(3)tauAlfven, have low Coulomb collisionality, vc* triple bond L/lambdaC approximately 10(-3), where lambdaC is the Coulomb scattering mean free path and L is the plasma's characteristic half length. Divertors allow reduction of the electron-neutral collision frequency to values where the RMFo coupling indicates full penetration of the RMFo to the major axis.  相似文献

We study the stability of network communication after removal of a fraction q=1-p of links under the assumption that communication is effective only if the shortest path between nodes i and j after removal is shorter than al(ij)(a> or =1) where l(ij) is the shortest path before removal. For a large class of networks, we find analytically and numerically a new percolation transition at p(c)=(kappa(0)-1)((1-a)/a), where kappa(0) [triple bond] / and k is the node degree. Above p(c), order N nodes can communicate within the limited path length al(ij), while below p(c), N(delta) (delta<1) nodes can communicate. We expect our results to influence network design, routing algorithms, and immunization strategies, where short paths are most relevant.  相似文献
