Spectral and temporal characteristics of metallic nanoparticles produced by femtosecond laser pulses
We study the time of flight optical emission from titanium and tungsten nanosized particles, generated through femtosecond laser-matter interaction in vacuum, in the wavelength spectral range from 300 to 900 nm. Typical spectra consist of broadband structureless signals similar to black body emission from a macroscopic object. Nanoparticles temperature, deduced from their emission spectra, decreases drastically as a function of their time of arrival at a given distance from the target. This behaviour is seen to be independent of individual particle velocities. 相似文献

Various methods for describing the distribution of water in the H2O-tributyl phosphate (TBP) system were considered. An equation for describing the deviations from the Henry law was proposed. A three-parameter equation for calculating the distribution of water in H2O-TBP-solvent systems was derived. It is based on the additive solubility model and allows for the dependence of the activity coefficients on the TBP concentration. The aim of this work is the experimental observation of and research into a rare neutron mode, the radiative beta decay, where
a new particle, the radiative gamma quantum, is formed along with the expected decay products: a beta electron, a recoil proton,
and an antineutrino. The discovery of this rare neutron decay mode was conducted through identification of triple-coincidence
events: simultaneous registration of a beta electron, a proton, and a radiative gamma quantum. The ordinary neutron decay
was registered by double coincidences of a beta electron and a recoil proton. The statistics collected allow one to deduce
the branching ratio (BR) BR = (3.2 ± 1.6) × 10−3 (90% C.L.) in the gamma energy region greater than 35 keV. This value of BR is consistent with standard electroweak theory.

In this work, the natural convection in a concentric annulus between a cold outer square cylinder and a heated inner circular cylinder is simulated using the differential quadrature (DQ) method. The vorticity‐stream function formulation is used as the governing equation, and the coordinate transformation technique is introduced in the DQ computation. It is shown in this paper that the outer square boundary can be approximated by a super elliptic function. As a result, the coordinate transformation from the physical domain to the computational domain is set up by an analytical expression, and all the geometrical parameters can be computed exactly. Numerical results for Rayleigh numbers range from 104 to 106 and aspect ratios between 1.67 and 5.0 are presented, which are in a good agreement with available data in the literature. It is found that both the aspect ratio and the Rayleigh number are critical to the patterns of flow and thermal fields. The present study suggests that a critical aspect ratio may exist at high Rayleigh number to distinguish the flow and thermal patterns. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

The injection of positrons into crystalline adamantane results in the formation of positronium (Ps). At temperatures T> 400 K the mean lifetime of the long-lived ortho-positronium exhibits a sigmoidal increase with temperature characteristic of the trapping of this species in thermally created defects. The variation is well described by the trapping model usually applied to the trapping of positrons in defects in metals. The formation energy of the defects which trap ortho-Ps is estimated at Efv = 70 ± 10 kJ mol-1 (0.73 ± 0.1 eV). This value is in good agreement with estimates of the formation energy of lattice vacancies in adamantane derived from self-diffusion studies. 相似文献

The timing relationship between a synchronously pumped mode-locked dye laser and its pump laser is explored experimentally and theoretically. The experimental data is in quantitative agreement with numerical solutions of a semiclassical model that includes no free parameters. The data also agrees qualitatively with an approximate, analytic distillation of this model which is presented here for the first time. Our study has a direct bearing on the jitter and the long term stability of these important ultrashort pulse lasers. 相似文献

Electron mobility has been calculated in a number of binary II–VI compound semiconductors using a displaced Maxwellian distribution function and taking the various scattering mechanisms into consideration at different lattice temperatures and for various amounts of ionized impurity concentrations. It is observed that the low field mobility values can be expressed by a cubic power relationship with lattice temperature and with ionized impurity concentration using a least mean square fit technique with an accuracy better than 5 per cent. Similarly, the field dependence of mobility can also be expressed as a power series of the applied electric field. It is suggested that these equations can be profitably used for a quick estimation of mobility values as a check on experiments and also as sufficiently accurate formulae for simulation and modelling purposes. 相似文献
