Compact Fourier-transform volume holographic spectrometer for diffuse source spectroscopy

We present a new idea for diffuse source spectroscopy using a Fourier-transform volume holographic spectrometer formed by a Fourier-transform lens, a volume hologram, and a CCD. We show that this spectrometer can operate well under spatially incoherent light illumination. Furthermore, this spectrometer is less bulky, less sensitive to input alignment, and potentially more appropriate for implementation of highly sensitive spectrometers than conventional spectrometers.     

Unbounded absolute weak convergence in Banach lattices

Several recent papers investigated unbounded versions of order and norm convergences in Banach lattices. In this paper, we study the unbounded variant of weak convergence and its relationship with other convergences. In particular, we characterize order continuous Banach lattices and reflexive Banach lattices in terms of this convergence.     

Soft lithography microfabrication of functionalized thermoplastics by solvent casting

A soft lithographic method is described for casting functional thermoplastic devices with microscale features without the need for specialized tools or equipment. In the thermoplastic soft lithography process, termed solvent casting, low temperature supersaturated solutions of thermoplastic are poured over solvent permeable PDMS molds which allow omnidirectional solvent removal as they template functional microstructures into the thermoplastic layers. Rapid gelation of supersaturated solutions enables the deposition of multiple patterned layers of varying composition, with self‐adhesion of the solvent‐laden thermoplastic ensuring intimate bonding between adjacent layers. This latter feature is further used in this work to realize sealed thermoplastic microfluidic devices with high fidelity replication of microchannel features with negligible channel deformation. The incorporation of functional dopants into patterned thermoplastic layers allows the fabrication of thermoplastic devices with embedded fluorescent sensors and integrated conductive elements. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cyclotron production and parameters calculation of <Superscript>48</Superscript>V Nitinol stent for renal arteries in brachytherapy

The Nitinol stent was bombarded in a cyclotron at a flux rate of 4 μA/cm² to produce ⁴⁸V via ⁴⁸Ti (p, n) ⁴⁸V reaction. In this study dose distribution of ⁴⁸V radioactive stent was investigated for renal arteries. Version X-2.6 of the MCNP Monte Carlo radiation transport system code was employed to calculate dose distribution around the stent. As ⁴⁸V is a mixed gamma and beta particle emitter, two separate runs of MCNP for both beta and gamma particles were performed and the total deposited dose was acquired by adding the two mentioned values. In order to verify the simulation, the calculated results have been compared with previous published data for the source. Calculated results show high dose gradient near the stent and the maximum amount of dose deposits at the vessel wall. According to (AAPM) TG-60/149 protocol, the dosimetric parameters, including geometry function, G(ρ,z), radial dose function, g _L (ρ), and anisotropy function, F(ρ,z), were also determined.
