Dust-Acoustic Nonlinear Waves in a Nanoparticle Fraction of Ultracold (2K) Multicomponent Dusty Plasma

The nonlinear dust-acoustic instability in the condensed submicron fraction of dust particles in the low-pressure glow discharge at ultra-low temperatures is experimentally and theoretically investigated. The main discharge parameters are estimated on the basisof the dust-acoustic wave analysis. In particular, the temperature and density of ions, as well as the Debye radius, are determined. It is shown that the ion temperature exceeds the temperature of the neutral gas. The drift characteristics of all plasma fractions are estimated. The reasons for the instability excitation are considered.     

Comparison of Proton Acceptor and Proton Donor Properties of H2O and H2O2 in Organic Crystals of Drug-like Compounds: Peroxosolvates vs. Crystallohydrates

Two new peroxosolvates of drug-like compounds were synthesized and studied by a combination of X-ray crystallographic, Raman spectroscopic methods, and periodic DFT computations. The enthalpies of H-bonds formed by hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) as a donor and an acceptor of protons were compared with the enthalpies of analogous H-bonds formed by water (H₂O) in isomorphic (isostructural) hydrates. The enthalpies of H-bonds formed by H₂O₂ as a proton donor turned out to be higher than the values of the corresponding H-bonds formed by H₂O. In the case of H₂O₂ as a proton acceptor in H-bonds, the ratio appeared reversed. The neutral O∙∙∙H-O/O∙∙∙H-N bonds formed by the lone electron pair of the oxygen atom of water were the strongest H-bonds in the considered crystals. In the paper, it was found out that the low-frequency Raman spectra of isomorphous crystalline hydrate and peroxosolvate of N-(5-Nitro-2-furfurylidene)-1-aminohydantoin are similar. As for the isostructural hydrate and peroxosolvate of the salt of protonated 2-amino-nicotinic acid and maleic acid monoanion, the Raman spectra are different.     

Investigation of the mechanism of reaction of S-ethyl-N,N′-tetraethyldiamidothio-phosphite with [C5H 5Mn(CO)2NO]+BF by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy

FT-IR spectroscopy and a special mathematical program were used for the real-time monitoring of the mechanistic path of the reaction of S-ethyl-N,N-tetraethyldiamidothiophosphite with [CpMn(CO)-₂NO]⁺BFequation/tex2gif-stack-3.gif. The formation of a few intermediates is described.     

DATA PREORDERING IN GENERALIZED PAV ALGORITHM FOR MONOTONIC REGRESSION

Monotonic regression （MR） is a least distance problem with monotonicity constraints induced by a partiaily ordered data set of observations. In our recent publication [In Ser. Nonconvex Optimization and Its Applications, Springer-Verlag, （2006） 83, pp. 25-33], the Pool-Adjazent-Violators algorithm （PAV） was generalized from completely to partially ordered data sets （posets）. The new algorithm, called CPAV, is characterized by the very low computational complexity, which is of second order in the number of observations. It treats the observations in a consecutive order, and it can follow any arbitrarily chosen topological order of the poset of observations. The CPAV algorithm produces a sufficiently accurate solution to the MR problem, but the accuracy depends on the chosen topological order. Here we prove that there exists a topological order for which the resulted CPAV solution is optimal. Furthermore, we present results of extensive numerical experiments, from which we draw conclusions about the most and the least preferable topological orders.     

Synthesis of Phosphonoindoprofen

Two synthetic routes to phosphonic analogues of indoprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, were developed by the cyclization of aniline 2 (method A) and by the Arbuzov reaction of corresponding alkylchloride 3 with triethylphosphite (method B).     

Model-independent constraints on spin observables

We discuss model-independent constraints on spin observables in exclusive and inclusive reactions, with special attention to the case of photoproduction.
