Coulomb Sturmian amplitude functions are derived in prolate spheroidal coordinates and are presented in a closed algebraic form. Spheroidal Sturnian functions are revealed to be related to the polynomial solutions of Heun's confluent equation. A reduction of symmetry from spherical to axial leads to the coupling of spherical polar orbitals and the formation of hybrid orbitals. The contribution of each spherical orbital into a hybrid orbital depends strongly on distance R from a nucleus to the dummy centre, and substantially alters when R varies. At two limiting cases R = 0 and R → ∞ spheroidal Sturmians are purely atomic orbitals, whereas at intermediate R they contain many features intrinsic to diatomic molecular orbitals. Applications of spheroidal Sturmian basis are discussed; Coulomb spheroidal Sturmians are asserted to be the most appropriate basis functions for diatomic molecular calculations.  相似文献

A paper by G. Gerald Stoney [Gerald Stoney, The Tension of Metallic Films Deposited by Electrolysis, Proc. R. Soc. Lond. A 82 (1909) 172–175], entitled “The Tension of Metallic Films deposited by Electrolysis,” was presented to the Royal Society of London by the Hon. C. A. Parsons. It was well known at that time that films deposited electrolytically were liable to peel off when exceeding a certain thickness. After examining many thin Steel rules of thickness d which have a thin, t, deposit of Nickel, which curved the Rule to a radius r. Taking the moments about the point b for the steel, Stoney then arrived at the following equation where the integral must be equal to zero;

From the solution of Eq. (1), we obtain the important fact that the neutral plane is at 2/3 the thickness of the rule from film surface. This also implies that the absolute value of the stress on the film side is twice that on the opposite side of the steel rule. The important point is that if the absolute stress in the silicon on the film side is twice that on the opposite side then the position of the neutral plane must be at 2/3 d. The purpose of this paper is to show that the neutral plane in silicon wafers, which have a thin film (~ 3 μm) of tungsten or Si3N4 is indeed at 2/3 the thickness of the wafer.  相似文献

The understanding of electronic and lattice properties of graphite intercalation compounds depends critically on the model describing the structural properties. We report here results showing that well-staged as-grown samples do not exhibit the expected in-plane intercalant density, and that careful analysis of the 00? x-ray diffractograms reveals important information on the in-plane occupation probability.  相似文献

Radial matrix elements 〈vJ|xk|vJ′〉 for k = 0–5, v = 0–12, |v′- v| = 0–4, and J up to 150 have been calculated for CO using accurate wavefunctions obtained from the numerical solution of the Schrödinger equation with a second-order RKR potential curve. These are used in conjunction with a model dipole moment function (a Padé approximant which has the correct united and separated atom limits and R?4 long-range behavior) to analyze the experimental intensity data. For all the levels considered, we conclude that an adequate representation of the dipole moment function is provided by a five-term power series expansion. This simplifies the computation of dipole moment matrix elements, typical results of which are presented to illustrate the dependence on the rotational and vibrational quantum numbers.  相似文献

Abstract— The decomposition of diazomethane by photolytic means has been studied both in inert gas matrices near 4°K and in the gas phase near 295°K. The direct detection of the diazomethyl radical, HCNN and DCNN, and evidence for the participation of methanal azine, H2C=‐N=CH2, by vibrational spectroscopy proved that both species play a significant role in the decomposition schemes under the conditions of investigation. The present results make possible the reinterpretation of the data from earlier published experiments to conform to these schemes. The isomerisation of diazomethane is also discussed, and evidence is presented for the production of both diazirine and isodiazomethane under certain photolytic conditions, the former by an intramolecular process and the latter by the recombination of the diazomethyl radical with a hydrogen atom. The vibronic absorption spectra of gaseous diazomethane at 295°K are presented, and deductions concerning photochemical processes are drawn.  相似文献
