Estimate for the Best Approximation of Summable Functions of Several Variables with a Certain Symmetry of Fourier Coefficients

An upper bound for the best approximation of summable functions of several variables by trigonometric polynomials in the metric of L is determined in terms of Fourier coefficients. We consider functions representable by trigonometric series with certain symmetry of coefficients satisfying a multiple analog of the Sidon–Telyakovskii conditions.     

Magnetic poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) microspheres by dispersion and inverse emulsion polymerization

The aim of this study was to develop novel thermally responsive polymer microspheres with magnetic properties. Dispersion and inverse emulsion copolymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) and N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide (MBAAm) was investigated in the presence of γ‐Fe₂O₃ nanoparticles. The resulting microspheres were characterized in terms of morphology, size, polydispersity, iron content, and temperature‐dependent swelling using optical microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, QELS, and AAS. The effects of several variables, such as the concentration of γ‐Fe₂O₃, MBAAm crosslinking agent, Span 80 surfactant, 2,2′‐azobis(2‐methyloctanenitrile) (AMON) initiator, and polymerization temperature on the properties of the microspheres were studied. Swelling and thermoresponsive behavior of the microspheres containing γ‐Fe₂O₃ nanoparticles were also investigated. The microspheres contained about 8 wt % of iron. The presence of magnetic nanoparticles and their concentration changes did not have any significant effect on the temperature sensitivity of the composites. The particles gradually shrink into an increasingly collapsed state when the temperature is raised to 40 °C since the increase in temperature weakens the hydration and PNIPAAm chains gradually become more hydrophobic, which leads to the collapse of the particles. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An analysis of migration paths of Li+ cations in ternary oxygen-containing compounds Li p X q O r

A new method was developed for studying voids and channels in crystal structures based on the Voronoi-Dirichlet partition of crystal space, and 822 structurally characterized ternary compounds Li ^p X ^q O ^r were analyzed for the first time. For these compounds, the dimensionality was determined and the migration patterns of channel systems capable of providing lithium-ion transport were constructed. The calculated coordinates of lithium atoms in the centers of the voids are consistent (within 0.4 ?) with the known structural data. Among these compounds, 113 compounds have infinite channel systems, 60 compounds (18 structural types, STs) have been described earlier in the literature as solid electrolytes, and 53 compounds (23 STs) can be considered as potential one-, two-, or three-dimensional ionic conductors (13, 3, and 7 STs, respectively). Dislocation model of a nanotwin

We propose a dislocation model of a nanotwin, which is used to calculate the stress fields in the nanotwin. We consider the role of these stresses in the process of interdislocation interaction and nanotwin growth.     

A quality criterion for visual tracking during nystagmus

The aim of this study is to construct a quantitative characteristic for the degree of gaze stabilization on a visual target with consideration of physiological constraints. A quality criterion for visual tracking during optokinetic vestibulocervical nystagmus is proposed. The index of imaginary tracking during rotation in the dark allows one to speak of a difference in the image stabilization quality between a healthy person and a patient. Experimental nystagmus data are used to calculate the quality index of visual tracking and the index of imaginary tracking.     

On Coercive Estimates for Solutions of Linear Systems of Hydrodynamic Type

Local and nonlocal coercive estimates in Lebesgue, Hölder, and Morrey–Campanato spaces are proved for solutions of linear stationary systems of hydrodynamic type. For this purpose, the technique proposed by Italian mathematicians for the study of solutions to equations and systems of elliptic and parabolic types is developed. Bibliography: 14 titles.     

Time structure of iodine laser pulse in the free running mode of operation

Time structure of iodine laser pulse in the free running mode of operation was studied using the power amplifier of laser system PERUN as the laser oscillator. Two characteristic shapes of laser pulse correspond to different regimes of laser operation, the existence of which is ascribed to the critical concentration of I₂ molecules. Simultaneously an additional chemical pumping was proved at least in the initial phase of photodissociation and in a late-time lasing after the end of flashlamps pumping light.
