On Constraint Qualifications in Nonsmooth Optimization

We introduce extensions of the Mangasarian-Fromovitz and Abadie constraint qualifications to nonsmooth optimization problems with feasibility given by means of lower-level sets. We do not assume directional differentiability, but only upper semicontinuity of the defining functions. By deriving and reviewing primal first-order optimality conditions for nonsmooth problems, we motivate the formulations of the constraint qualifications. Then, we study their interrelation, and we show how they are related to the Slater condition for nonsmooth convex problems, to nonsmooth reverse-convex problems, to the stability of parametric feasible set mappings, and to alternative theorems for the derivation of dual first-order optimality conditions.In the literature on general semi-infinite programming problems, a number of formally different extensions of the Mangasarian-Fromovitz constraint qualification have been introduced recently under different structural assumptions. We show that all these extensions are unified by the constraint qualification presented here.     

Constructions of economic functions and calculations of marginal rates in DEA using parametric optimization methods

The aim of the paper is to present and substantiate a technique to visualize DEA modelling results without any loss of mathematical rigour. The proposed family of parametric optimization methods allows one to construct an intersection of the multidimensional frontier with a two-dimensional plane determined by any pair of given directions. This approach reduces the efficiency analysis of production units to the investigation of well-known functions in economics. We also propose constructive methods to calculate marginal rates of substitution, marginal rates of transformation and so on.     

BMAP/G/1 queue with correlated arrivals of customers and disasters

We consider a single server queue with disasters where the arrivals of customers and disasters are correlated. When a disaster occurs, it removes all the customers in the system and there requires repair time for the system to be operated normally. The stationary queue length distribution at the embedded points and at an arbitrary time are presented.     

Continuous dependence on modelling for a complex Ginzburg–Landau equation with complex coefficients

Continuous dependence on a modelling parameter is established for solutions of a problem for a complex Ginzburg–Landau equation. A homogenizing boundary condition is also used to discuss the continuous dependence results. We derive a priori estimates that indicate that solutions depend continuously on a parameter in the governing differential equation. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Ion source with a cold magnetron cathode and magnetic plasma compression

The operating principles, design, and characteristics of an ion source with a cold magnetron cathode and magnetic plasma compression are described. The source is intended for the injector of a linear proton accelerator.     

Spectra Analysis of a Novel Ti-Doped LiAlO2 Single Crystal

LiAlO2 single crvstals doped with Ti at concentration 0.2at.% are grown by the Czochralskl technique with dimensions φ42×55mm. Ti ions in the crystal are quadrivalence proven by comparing the absorption and fluorescence spectra of pure LiAlO2 and Ti： LiAlO2. After air and Li-rich atmosphere annealing, the absorption peaks in the range of 600-800nm disappear. We conclude that 682 and 756nm absorption peaks are attributed to the VLi and Vo absorptions, respectively： The peaks at 716nm and 798nm may stem from the VLi^＋ and absorptions. The colour-centre model can be applied to explain the experimental phenomena. Ti^4＋-doping produces more lithium vacancies in the LiAlO2 crystal. The intensities of [LiO4] and the associated bonds remain unchanged, which improves the anti-hydrolyzation and thermal stability of LiAlO2 crystals.

Boundedness of Multilinear Operators on Herz Type Spaces： Extreme Cases

In this paper, two classes of closely related multilinear singular and fractional integrals,which include the commutators as special cases, are studied and their boundedness on Herz type spaces is discussed. In fact, it is proved that these operators are actually not bounded in certain extreme cases.
