Epidemiological models with quadratic equation for endemic equilibria—A bifurcation atlas

The existence and occurrence, especially by a backward bifurcation, of endemic equilibria is of utmost importance in determining the spread and persistence of a disease. In many epidemiological models, the equation for the endemic equilibria is quadratic, with the coefficients determined by the parameters of the model. Despite its apparent simplicity, such an equation can describe an amazing number of dynamical behaviors. In this paper, we shall provide a comprehensive survey of possible bifurcation patterns, deriving explicit conditions on the equation's parameters for the occurrence of each of them, and discuss illustrative examples.     

Atomic Hydrogen Induced Chemical Vapor Deposition of Silicon Oxycarbide Thin Films Derived from Diethoxymethylsilane Precursor

Amorphous silicon oxycarbide (a-SiOC:H) films produced by remote plasma RPCVD from diethoxymethylsilane (DEMS) were characterized in terms of their basic properties related to the coatings deposited using conventional plasma enhanced PECVD method. The effect of substrate temperature (T_S) on the growth rate, chemical composition, structure, and properties of resulting a-SiOC:H films is reported. Film growth is an adsorption-controlled process, wherein two mechanisms can be distinguished with a transition at about T_S=70°C. Depending on the temperature, films of different nature can be obtained, from polymer-like to highly crosslinked material with C-Si-O network. The chemical structure of a-SiOC:H films was characterized by FTIR, ¹³C and ²⁹Si solid-state NMR, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopes. The a-SiOC:H films were also characterized in terms of their density, refractive index, surface morphology, conformality of coverage, hardness, adhesion to a substrate, and friction coefficient. The films were found to be morphologically homogeneous materials exhibiting good conformality of coverage and small surface roughness. Their refractive index exhibits anomalous effect revealing a minimum value at T_S=125°C. Due to their exceptional physical properties a-SiOC:H films produced by RPCVD from DEMS precursor seems to be useful as potential dielectric materials or coatings for various encapsulation applications.     

Hamel‐isomorphic images of the unit ball

In this article we consider linear isomorphisms over the field of rational numbers between the linear spaces ?² and ?. We prove that if f is such an isomorphism, then the image by f of the unit disk is a strictly nonmeasurable subset of the real line, which has different properties than classical non‐measurable subsets of reals. We shall also consider the question whether all images of bounded measurable subsets of the plane via a such mapping are non‐measurable (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)     

Towards uniqueness of degenerate axially symmetric Killing horizon

For near horizon geometry we examine the linearized equations around extremal Kerr horizon (which is a unique axially symmetric near horizon geometry) and give some arguments towards stability of this horizon with respect to generic (non-symmetric) linear perturbation of near horizon geometry. The result is also applicable for other situations like Kundt’s class spacetimes or isolated horizons.     

Heat kernel estimates for the Bessel differential operator in half‐line

In the paper we consider the Bessel differential operator in half‐line , , and its Dirichlet heat kernel . For , by combining analytical and probabilistic methods, we provide sharp two‐sided estimates of the heat kernel for the whole range of the space parameters and every , which complements the recent results given in 1 , where the case was considered.     

Xe对NO(X)微分截面和非弹性散射中的碰撞诱导旋转准直

本文对NO(X)-Xe碰撞系统在碰撞能量为519 cm^-1,测量了完全?-双峰分解的微分截面和碰撞引起的旋转准直力矩. 同时结合初始量子态选择,使用六极杆的非均质电场,借助量子态分辨的测量,利用(1+1'')共振增强的多光子电离和速度离子成像. 结果显示,微分截面以及偏振相关的微分截面均显示与从头算势能面上进行的量子力学散射计算[J. K?os etal. J. Chem. Phys. 137, 014312 (2012)]一致. 通过与准经典轨迹、硬壳势能的量子力学散射以及运动近端模型的比较,评估了势能对所测微分截面和碰撞引起的旋转准直力矩的影响.     

Yang-Mills and Dirac Fields with Inhomogeneous Boundary Conditions

Finite time existence and uniqueness of solutions of the evolution equations of minimally coupled Yang-Mills and Dirac systems are proved for inhomogeneous boundary conditions. A characterization of the space of solutions of minimally coupled Yang-Mills and Dirac equations is obtained in terms of the boundary data and the Cauchy data satisfying the constraint equation. The proof is based on a special gauge fixing and a singular perturbation result for the existence of continuous semigroups. Received: 18 April 1996 / Accepted: 3 March 1997
