Synthesis of dolichol-type (S)-hexa- and (S)-heptaprenols

Topological analysis of the structure-mesomorphous property ralationship

The use of topological indices to reveal the relationship between molecular structure and mesomorphous properties is discussed. Mathematical models for classification of mesophase types are proposed. The effect of molecular structure and attractive ability on phase transition temperatures is described. Oxidation of theexo- andendo-phenylcyclohexadienyl iron complexes Fe(η5-6-PhC6H6) (η5- C5H5)

The roe of oxidatively induced homolyhc scission a the C(sp³)-H bonds in the iron phenykychhexadienyl complexes Fe(⁵-6-PhC₆H₆)(⁵-C₅H₅) (1) depends on the spatial orientation of the Ph substitutent. In the case of the (1 _endo ⁺) radical cation this process, resulting in the cationic biphenyl complex (Fe(⁶ -C₆H₅C₆H₅)(⁵-C₅H₅)]⁺ (2 ⁺), is fast and proceeds for several minutes. In the case of the more stable radical cation (1 _exo ⁺) the formation of 2⁺ is slow and takes tens minutes to complete.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Synthesis and some properties of phosphorus-substituted azomethines

A series of phosphorus(iii)-substituted azomethines and enamines were synthesized by the reaction of lithium salts of aldimines and ketimines with derivatives of phosphorus(iii) acids. Substituent effects in donor-acceptor complexes with D→A coordination bonds (D = N, O, S; A = B, Al, Ga, Sn, Sb) and related systems

The effect of substituent on the enthalpy ΔH ⁰ and free energy ΔG ⁰ of complexation, on the dipole moments of complexes μ_C and coordination bonds μ_DA, and on the degree of charge transfer Δq was analyzed for 20 series of complexes with D→A coordination bonds (D = N, O, S; A = B, Al, Ga, Sn, Sb), hydrogen bonds, and charge transfer. It was found that ΔH ⁰, ΔG ⁰, μ_C, μ_DA, and Δq depend not only on the inductive and resonance effects, but also on the polarization effect of substituents; its contribution varies in a wide range and can exceed 50%.     

Conjugates of polyhedral boron compounds with carbohydrates

Conjugates of β-lactosylamine derivatives bearing terminal amino groups in aglycon with ortho-carboranylacetic acid were synthesized. Five glycoconjugates with spacers of different length (from 9 to 18 atoms) and hydrophilicity containing di-, tri-, and pentapeptide fragments constructed of glycine and serine residues and spacers incorporating ethylenediamine and tartaric acid or tertiary amine residues were prepared Dedicated to the memory of outstanding chemist and biochemist V. PMR spectra of azacinnolines

An analysis of the PMR spectra (using double resonance) of the isomeric 3-, 6-, 7-, and 8-methyl and 7-ethyl-5-azacinnolines, and also of 7-methyl-8-azacinno-line has shown the presence in these structures of a considerable localization of the C₅-C₆ and C₇-C₈ bonds, which has been confirmed by the results of a quantum-chemical calculation by the PPP method.Deceased.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 4, pp. 541–543, April, 1980.     

Preparation of arylphosphonates by the reaction of aryl halides with tris(trimethylsilyl) phosphite under homogeneous catalysis conditions

The reaction of tris(trimethylsilyl) phosphite with aryl bromides under homogeneous catalysis conditions gives bis(trimethylsilyl)arylphosphonates.
